Chapter 98: 097: Zhizhi Help me

Her touch was like an oasis appearing in a boundless desert for Shi Wei, bringing his entire being back to life.

He held the back of her head and leaned down to kiss her lips with a punishing intensity.

Standing behind them, Shi Yin awkwardly turned his head away. Only after the two had been wrapped up in their intimacy for quite some time did he cough lightly to draw their attention.

Shi Yin gestured to the man tied up on the ground, "What do we do with him?"

Upon hearing this, Shi Wei walked over slowly. He looked down at Yang Bin’s vacant expression, his dark eyes so frighteningly intense they seemed bottomless.

"You wanted to kill her?" A low chuckle rumbled from his throat, hiding what felt like a furious storm.

Yang Bin gave no response, still staring blankly at the lamp hanging overhead.

"Playing dead?" Shi Wei’s lips curved into a forced sneer, his aura becoming suffocatingly oppressive.

His hand at his side clenched into a fist, and like a wild beast that had lost all reason, he abruptly began throwing punch after punch at Yang Bin’s face.

When Yang Bin’s face had swollen into a mess of bruises, Yu Zhi hurried forward and grabbed Shi Wei’s arm. "Stop hitting him."

At the same time as Yu Zhi pulled Shi Wei away, Shi Yin couldn’t hold back and kicked the man a couple of times.

He couldn’t abide cowards who preyed on the weak like this. If the girl hadn’t had the ability to protect herself, she might already have been a corpse by now.

"Does it hurt?" Yu Zhi gently wiped Shi Wei’s reddened hand with a tissue, her almond-shaped eyes brimming with concern.

Shi Wei’s free hand naturally slid around her waist, his chin resting lightly on her shoulder. "It hurts."

Suddenly hearing this, Shi Yin felt dumbfounded: "??"

He stared incredulously at the man, whose eyes now held a hint of grievance.

In the past, they’d gotten into fights much more brutal than this, and never once had he heard Shi Wei admit to pain. But now...

Shi Yin suddenly felt like the world had changed.

"Let me rub it for you." Yu Zhi’s movements were so gentle, afraid of causing him any discomfort.

Shi Wei smiled faintly. When he turned his head to look at Shi Yin, all traces of grievance in his eyes were gone. "Ask Xu Linchuan where he is."

"Alright." Shi Yin didn’t even have time to marvel at Shi Wei’s rapid change in demeanor before quickly pulling out his phone.

But before he could make the call, a group of people kicked the door open and barged in.

Leading them was Xu Linchuan, who glanced around at the scene inside. Seeing everyone standing there intact, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

First, he made sure they were alright. Then, he asked Yu Zhi about the specifics and recorded everything that had happened.

Since the incident involved a chain of murders, he had to return quickly for interrogations, so he only stayed a few minutes before taking Yang Bin away.

The narrow village road was enveloped in darkness, with only the faint glow of a phone’s flashlight breaking the blackness.

Yu Zhi glanced at Shi Yin, who was walking to her right. Tilting her head, she asked the man beside her, "Which of you is the elder brother?"

As soon as the question left her lips, the atmosphere turned oddly tense.

The hand Shi Yin used to hold his phone trembled slightly, causing the beam of light on the ground to waver back and forth.

His head drooped slightly, the thick night veiling the fleeting emotions in his eyes.

Just when he assumed Shi Wei wouldn’t answer either, a low voice broke the silence.

"I am."

"Then I guessed right." Yu Zhi’s eyes sparkled with laughter, ripples of joy dancing in her gaze.

Shi Wei chuckled softly and changed the subject, "Zhizhi, are you hungry?"

"A little."

"..."

As they exchanged looks, Shi Yin turned his head and stole a glance at Shi Wei. Out of nowhere, he too began laughing.

It seemed that the shadow clouding his heart for years had dispersed significantly the moment Shi Wei acknowledged their brotherhood.

Shi Family residence.

The kitchen was filled with a rich aroma so enticing that even before seeing the dishes, one couldn’t help but crave a hearty meal.

Yu Zhi sat by the dining table for a long while, but eventually gave in and wandered into the kitchen.

Standing behind the man, she tiptoed to peek into the pot filled with simmering soup, swallowing audibly as she did.

"Is it ready yet?" Despite the two small cakes she’d eaten before taking a bath, she was starting to feel hungry again.

As Shi Wei turned his head and saw her wearing the white spaghetti-strap nightgown again, he froze for a moment.

He redirected his gaze from the bow at her chest, reaching out to pat her head. "Ten more minutes. Be good."

Yu Zhi pursed her lips and stepped out from under his long arm, circling around to stand in front of him.

She picked up a ladle and stirred the soup in the pot. "Can I have some soup first?"

If she couldn’t have the meat yet, at least a sip of soup would do, right?

Shi Wei agreed softly, his gaze lowering as he looked at the little figure in his arms. His hand on her side subtly slid to her waist.

When his broad palm brushed against the silky fabric, Shi Wei’s Adam’s apple moved with a swallow, and the darkness in his eyes deepened.

"Zhizhi." Shi Wei rubbed her waist, leaning down to whisper by her ear, "Why did you suddenly change into this dress?"

"The other pajamas are being washed, and they’re not dry yet." Yu Zhi held the bowl in both hands, savoring the soup without noticing his increasingly unusual demeanor.

"I see." Shi Wei pressed his cold lips against her cheek, gently sucking at her skin. "Is the soup good?"

Yu Zhi nodded, her lips now glistening with oil, resembling a shiny, enticing jelly under the light.

"Let me try."

Yu Zhi was about to hand him the bowl, but what Shi Wei wanted to taste wasn’t the soup at all.

He gripped her waist with one hand and lifted her leg with the other, hoisting her up onto the counter.

Their breaths melded together as a long, lingering kiss drowned them in mutual fervor.

"Mmm..." Yu Zhi’s eyes widened in surprise, staring at the man in disbelief.

Noticing that the bow at her chest was askew, her cheeks flushed pink.

"Shi, Shi Wei..." Yu Zhi turned her head aside, her hands instinctively pushing at his shoulders.

Her voice was soft, like a kitten’s, simultaneously scratching at Shi Wei’s heart and pulling him back to his senses.

"Zhizhi, I feel so uncomfortable." Shi Wei, as if it were the most natural action in the world, loosened the bow and wrapped his arm around her waist again.

He buried his chaotic breaths in the crook of her neck, unable to hide the desire in his eyes.

Yu Zhi wasn’t faring much better—her face was red as a tomato, and her almond-shaped eyes sparkled with confusion and tension.

Seeing her silent, Shi Wei gazed at her, his hoarse voice tinged with coaxing seduction. "Zhizhi, will you help me?"

"How... how do I help?" Yu Zhi held her breath, her heart thundering like a drum.

On the second floor, in the master bedroom, Shi Wei carefully placed the soft bundle in his arms onto the bed. He kissed her lips gently, his hand cradling hers, delicate as porcelain.
