Chapter 144: 143: I only dress up for you to see.
"I’m really not—"
"Mmm..." Before the girl could finish her words, the man sealed her lips.
The hair dryer fell to the ground, forgotten.
In the guest room, Yu Zhi stood with swollen lips, holding a soft measuring tape by the fabric-strewn table.
She brushed her lower lip, then threw a vexed glare at the man across from her. Seeing his enchanting smile in response, she chose to ignore him completely.
Shi Wei, in a cheery mood, poured himself a glass of red wine, propped his long legs on the coffee table, rested one arm against the back of the sofa, and leisurely sipped as he admired the girl working.
Her hair was tied up in a half-bun, exposing her smooth and full forehead. Her arched brows resembled willow leaves, her downcast eyes framed by butterfly-wing-like lashes fluttering faintly at the edges—stunningly beautiful.
When his gaze landed on her crimson lips, his Adam’s apple bobbed twice; hurriedly, he brought the wine glass to his lips, sipping the rich, aromatic liquid.
About half an hour passed. Yu Zhi set down what she was holding, picked up a white shirt, and walked over to him.
"Try it on." Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she grabbed his hand, attempting to pull him up from the sofa.
Shi Wei stood up smoothly. Right in front of her, he untied the belt of his bathrobe.
His movements were deliberate—slow, with calculated pauses—clearly teasing her.
Yu Zhi’s gaze instinctively slid from his collarbone to his abdomen. She stared for a long moment before snapping back to reality and urging him.
"Patience, my dear." He slipped one arm into the sleeve, encircled her waist, kissed her lips, and step by step retreated to stand before a full-length mirror.
He leaned down, resting his forehead against hers, his tone laced with gentle coaxing: "Help me get dressed."
The girl gave his shoulder a few weak pushes, her earlobes tinged red, before skirting behind him. Standing on tiptoes, she grabbed the collar to help him insert his other arm into the sleeve.
After tidying the collar and hem, he once again wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her to stand in front of him.
This time, without needing his instruction, she reached out and fastened every button for him, one by one.
"You look amazing." Yu Zhi offered genuine praise, stepping to her right to reveal the full-length mirror behind them so he could take in his reflection.
The man in the mirror wore a slightly loose silk shirt, the collar’s arc and outline tailored differently from his usual preferences.
The first button of the collar was positioned just below his collarbone, perfectly displaying two smooth, pale stretches of his clavicles.
Shi Wei lowered his gaze to glance at the exposed collarbone and arched a brow slightly, his smile carefree. "Zhizhi, aren’t you worried someone else might take a peek?"
The words stumped Yu Zhi. Her gaze paused for two seconds on the exact spot his fingertip pointed to, her lips pursing tightly in frustration. "I’ll fix it."
Just as the words left her, she made to undo the buttons, but before her hand reached the collar, her wrist was caught.
"Zhizhi, it’s fine not to fix it." Shi Wei kissed her fingertips, placing them on his collarbone. "I’ll only wear it for you."
Before she could reply, he leaned in close to her ear and murmured, "And I’ll only let you take it off."
The girl’s cheeks visibly blushed to a vivid pink, her lashes fluttering uncontrollably in response.
She cast the man a sidelong glance, pulling her wrist free from his palm. "I’m going to bed."
Shi Wei watched as the girl’s steps grew increasingly scattered, a pleasing laugh escaping his throat, the corners of his eyes crinkling in joy.

At Xingye Group.
Inside the CEO’s office, two men stood trembling with two reports in hand before the man seated at the desk.
They bowed their heads as low as possible, trying to minimize their presence while awaiting an eruption of fury.
Yet as the seconds ticked by, the man seated in the swivel chair maintained his silence. The room was so quiet, even the fall of a pin would have been audible.
"President Shi, this...?" One of the men finally couldn’t endure the suffocating atmosphere and lifted his head to glance at him.
But that single glance stunned him so entirely that he couldn’t finish speaking.
Xingye’s boss, Shi Family’s eldest son Shi Wei—the notoriously cold and aloof man with an ice-sculpted demeanor—was at this moment holding a phone, his face alight with springtime warmth as he smiled.
"What is it?" Shi Wei, mid-typing, turned to glance at the man, his gaze suddenly frosty. "You think standing here will magically produce solutions?"
The dramatic switch prompted the man to doubt his previous observations, considering them mere illusions.
Hurriedly, he shook his head. "I’ll go right now to revise it."
"Mm." Shi Wei responded without much emotion, failing to meet their expectations of fiery rage.
The two glanced at each other in confusion before quickly exiting, still befuddled.
In the hallway, the younger one patted the older man’s shoulder, speaking in a hushed tone: "Old Li, I just saw President Shi smiling."
"I saw it too."
"Do you think he’s in love?"
"He brought his girlfriend to the company a while back. You didn’t hear?" The older man looked at him in surprise.
Shi Wei’s rumored romance had circulated widely since the very day he introduced her at the office. How could someone still not know?
"Really? What does she look like? Have you seen her?"
"I don’t know, but I heard she’s very beautiful."
"..."
Standing at the corner, Meng Han listened to their conversation clearly. Her face twisted as she dug her nails into her forearm, suppressing the resentment and envy she felt towards that woman.
Only once her forearm was covered in crescent-shaped marks did she gradually calm down. Plastering on her usual smile as if nothing had happened, she stepped forward.
"Knock knock knock—"
A soft knock sounded on the door, and Shi Wei momentarily paused his grip on the phone. He frowned, casting a glance at the doorway. "Come in."
"Mr. Shi." Meng Han swayed her hips as she walked unhurriedly to the seat opposite him.
She set down her purse, propped her chin in her hand, and smiled bewitchingly at him. "Have you eaten?"
Shi Wei, repelled by her infatuated gaze, immediately shifted his chair to face another direction, texting Chen Cai while pretending she didn’t exist.
"I’m here today because there’s something I want to ask you." Unperturbed by his attitude, Meng Han even sweetened her voice further.
She fixated on his flawless profile, revealing an unabashed greed in her gaze.
"You have one minute." Without even glancing up, Shi Wei pulled out a cigarette from its pack, his voice growing increasingly impatient.
"Actually, it’s very simple to ask, but—"
"Get out." Shi Wei’s cutting ice-cold tone snapped like a whip as he slammed the lighter onto the desk.
