Chapter 121: Disciplinary Committee

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Disciplinary Committee

Lia stepped forward, taking a deep breath as she stood in the center of the classroom, her hands trembling. Around her, everyone was eager to see what the "monster’s" girlfriend was capable of.

She raised her hand, closed her eyes, and channeled her mana with all her might. Ten seconds passed, and then a spark appeared... but it dissipated immediately. She tried again, but only managed to generate another spark. On the third attempt, she only managed to ignite a faint flame in her palm before it vanished like a candle extinguished by the wind.

Laughter began to echo in the room; the nobles couldn’t contain themselves and started to mock her.

"Not even a fireball? Seriously?"

"Maybe she’s trying to heat water for tea."

"Hey, Lia, when’s the fire coming?"

The emboldened nobles started to mock Lia even more while the teacher did nothing to stop them.

Lia lowered her gaze, her face completely red, her hands clenched, her eyes shining. She didn’t even dare to look at Dreya, much less William, as she thought she had disappointed him, especially after William had just given a masterful demonstration of magic control.

Dreya clicked her tongue.

"Ridiculous. Even a wild child with a fever can cast a more stable spell. What are you doing here? As far as I know, these spells were given to you during your journey, so you’ve had months to practice. Even the worst child can cast a damned fireball after three days. How do you expect to graduate like this?"

The laughter grew, but Dreya continued to speak with a scathing tone: "Sometimes I wonder how people like you even managed to get into Black Rock. Not everyone is born to be a mage. Perhaps you should consider retiring before you continue to embarrass yourself."

William clenched his fists.

"Enough," William said in a firm voice as he stood up.

"Excuse me?" Dreya slowly turned around.

"I said enough. I won’t allow you to speak about her like that."

"And who are you to tell me how to conduct my class, you arrogant brat? If you have something to say, you’d better save it for the committee," Dreya said, glaring at him.

"Committee? For telling an arrogant teacher she’s trash as an instructor? You don’t need magic to see that."

The room fell silent.

"Get out of my class!" Dreya shouted furiously.

"Why don’t you kick me out yourself?" William challenged, not backing down.

Dreya raised her hand to cast a spell at him, but before she could even finish her incantation, William vanished in a blink using Instant Steps. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of her, so close their breaths mingled.

"Unlike a certain bitch who’s just a hothouse flower and has clearly never seen a drop of blood, I’ve forged my path in a sea of corpses. If you want to face someone, come for me. But if you try to mess with Lia again... I’ll kill you," he whispered with a cold voice and a lethal gaze.

Dreya paled, took a step back... and fell to the ground. She had no doubt that the brat in front of her was capable of carrying out his words.

"What...?! HELP! HE WANTS TO KILL ME! HELP MEEEE!" Dreya began to scream hysterically, backing away, pale as a corpse. Her steps were clumsy, causing her to trip and fall to the ground, screaming even louder as if she were being stabbed, while William simply returned to his spot.

Five figures rushed into the room. They wore black armor decorated with the academy’s symbol: they were the mages of the Disciplinary Committee, all Level 1, and their mere presence exuded power. These mages had a dense smell of blood. William, who had lived on the edge of death since he arrived in this world, was very sensitive to this sensation.

"Student William, you must come with us. You are accused of assaulting a professor, based on Article 6, Paragraph 12 of the regulations," one of them said.

William crossed his arms.

"Under what evidence? Under what charges? I never touched her."

The professor, still hysterical, activated her collar and showed the recording: it clearly showed her casting a spell, and William simply dodging it with instant steps without touching her at any point.

One of the committee members raised an eyebrow.

"According to Article 12, Paragraph 33, if a teacher attacks without justification, the student has the right to defend themselves... even to demand the aggressor’s expulsion."

The professor’s expression turned to terror. She had fallen into her own trap. William had not been impulsive. He had followed the rules, in the midst of the chaos he had remained calm. Even in such a short time, he had a legal alibi prepared to prevent them from punishing him, and with the evidence she herself had shown, she had dug her own grave.

"You damned bastard! You planned this! You and that trashy girl! The Vaylen and Valhem told me to do it! They paid me! They...!"

Dreya couldn’t finish her words because in her outburst of anger, she had admitted to attacking a student while being a professor, which was considered a serious crime. The committee members needed nothing more; in the blink of an eye, the five mages pounced on her. Their movements were perfectly synchronized, giving her not the slightest chance to retaliate. As they seized her, they threw her to the ground, chaining her with magical shackles that closed with sparks of yellow light.

"For conspiracy, corruption, and unjustified aggression, you will be placed under investigation," said the leader of the disciplinary team.

Under normal circumstances, they would have been much kinder and more polite, but the captain was extremely angry at that moment. He had been assigned to come to this place at this exact time and stay outside listening, with the excuse that something would happen. The director of the disciplinary department had forced them, so despite opposing these types of actions, he had to do his job.

Without looking back, they dragged Dreya out of the classroom. William turned to Lia, who was still paralyzed by shock. Bending down in front of her, he extended his hand, caressing her cheeks.

"No one is going to treat you like that again. I promise you."

At that moment, he looked up and turned to face everyone before adding, "Or I’ll kill them."

His words resonated in the minds of all present who knew they had offended someone they shouldn’t have.
