The Mighty Mage
Chapter 89: Message

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Message

The receptionist quickly transferred the call to Elder Wu’s assistant.

"Hello, this is Elder Wu’s assistant speaking. How may I assist you?" came a polite voice over the line.

Gu Jin wasted no time. "Hello, this is Su Jin. I need to speak with Elder Wu urgently regarding a matter of great importance."

The assistant seemed to take note of the urgency in Gu Jin’s voice. "I’ll see if he’s available. Please hold for a moment."

Gu Jin waited anxiously, tapping her foot as seconds ticked by. Finally, the assistant returned to the line.

"I’m sorry, but Elder Wu is currently unavailable. However, if it’s urgent, you can leave a message with me, and I’ll make sure he receives it as soon as possible."

Gu Jin frowned and asked,

"What about Elder Fan and Elder Xiang?"

"Ma’am they are inside too." The assistant replied.

"Can you ask them to hurry up a bit?" Gu Jin asked.

"Ma’am I don’t have enough rights to enter the meeting room." The assistant said.

Gu Jin was in a dilemma. She didn’t know the assistant and hence didn’t know whether he was being perfunctory or didn’t have any rights...

Finally, Gu Jin said,

"Alright please leave a message on my behalf...I need their help to protect a girl named Gu Jin. Please ask them to send someone strong to Magic School Academy."

"Okay, ma’am." The assistant said and after giving the assistant a few more instructions Gu Jin hung up the call.

The anxiety that she was feeling earlier was heightened.

Gu Jin thought of distracting herself and hence entered the classroom to attend the lecture after changing her disguise.

It was the class teacher’s lecture.

Gu Jin expected to be scolded but the class teacher didn’t even bother to glance at her.

Maybe he learned his lesson from the previous incidents...

Gu Jin attended the lectures and at 4 pm the lectures were over.

Gu Jin remained seated.

Various ideas were forming in her mind.

Should she hide in her space?

Or should she remain in the school?

As she saw students leaving the classroom, Gu Jin averted her gaze.

A sense of unease was slowly building up in her heart.

Suddenly her phone rang and Gu Jin cursed at the suddenness of the call.

When she looked at the caller ID, she visibly relaxed.

Alchemy tower.

Gu Jin received the call and heard Old Wu’s kind voice,

"Child, where are you?"

Gu Jin suddenly felt the unease rising and revealed,

"I am in the Magic School Academy could you send some strong mage to protect me...hello? Hello?"

No response.

Was the network interrupted?

Gu Jin looked around and found that she was the only one in the entire classroom.

Not safe.

Gu Jin thought and packed her bag.

As she exited the classroom she saw a few students who were either going to another classroom to attend lectures or leaving for their home.

It is better to stay in a crowded place, Gu Jin thought and stood in the hallway.

Gu Jin dialed Old Wu’s number but the call didn’t go through.

"Hey, what is happening? Why am I not able to call?"

"Oh, that? The watchman said that maybe there was some problem with the network tower."

"Ohh. So did they say how much time will be required to fix the problem?"

"Nope. Maybe 10 or 12 hours. I don’t know."

Gu Jin frowned and suddenly thought of a satellite phone.

If only this world has a satellite phone.

Gu Jin was wondering whether she should leave the Magic Academy or should she stay.

"Gu Jin?"

Gu Jin turned around and saw Teacher Fu. He was looking at her with a frown.

Teacher Fu asked,

"What are you doing? Lectures are over you should leave."

Gu Jin said in nonchalant tone,

"I want to explore the Academy today."

Teacher Fu gave her a weird look and said,

"Anyways, leave before dawn."

Saying so he turned to leave.

"Teacher Fu." Gu Jin suddenly called out.

"Yes?" Teacher Fu turned around.

Even though Gu Jin didn’t want to ask there was no other way and hence she asked,

"Where is the principal?"

Teacher Fu looked at vigilantly and asked,

"Why are you asking about that?"

"I don’t want to complain about you. I just have some personal matter to discuss."

Teacher Fu looked relived,

"Principal has gone to Capital to participate in some meeting."

Gu Jin nodded,

"When is he going to return?"

"Maybe in 2 to 3 days. Why are you asking about him though?"

"No, nothing. Thank you. One last question. Why is your nature so changed?" Gu Jin asked.

Teacher Fu lowered his eyes to the ground,

"I...I am sorry for all the things I have done. I did it just so I could impress Young Miss Chu...I didn’t want to harm you in the first place."

So honest?

Gu Jin turned even more alert.

Teacher Fu chuckled bitterly when he saw Gu Jin’s guarded look,

"Anyways I will leave. For some reason, I can sense that you are quite alert, if I continue to stay you will only feel unease.

However, I do want to tell you, in Magic School academy no one can harm you so stay here if you have any problem."

Syaing so Teacher Fu left.

Gu Jin relaxed a bit at Teacher Fu’s departure and stood in the hallway.

If her message was properly reached to the Elders..then the help was on her way.

For some reason Gu Jin didn’t want to enter her space...she had an instinct that the moment she entered the space...something wrong would happen.

Gu Jin stood there waiting for help which was never going to come because the assistant never delivered her message...

At 9 pm in the night, Gu Jin having no choice entered the self-study room.

There were many students in the classroom.

Gu Jin stayed there till noon and it was only when she felt hungry that she made her way to the cafeteria and bought a meal.

She ate her dinner and returned to the self-study.

Just when she reached her seat, a boy with blue hair and cute looks made his way to Gu Jin and said,

"Hii."

Gu Jin didn’t even look at the boy but she was disgusted by the strong perfume scent he had.

The boy wasn’t discouraged and said,

"Are you Gu Jin?"

Gu Jin finally looked at the boy and said in a cold tone,

"Scram."

The boy smirked,

"Oh my god, you are just like your element fire!"

Gu Jin felt irritated and she suddenly produced a small fireball,

"You..."

But before she could do anything, an alarm went off.

The boy with the blue hair looked around with awe in his eyes and muttered,

"So it’s true...Whenever someone tries to use their magic in the self-study room, the alarm goes off."

Gu Jin’s irritation turned to confusion as she looked at the boy with blue hair. "What do you mean it’s true?"

The boy grinned mischievously.

"Oh, you haven’t heard? This self-study room is enchanted to prevent students from using magic inside. It’s supposed to encourage us to focus on our studies without distractions."

"Who used magic in the self-study?" A shrill voice sounded and Gu Jin held her forehead.

A fat woman with red spectacle and black hair with a fair skin tone came inside the study room. From her expression, it was clear that she was very angry.

God.

She was doomed.

Yet Gu Jin raised her hand.

The woman who was in her late 30’s looked at Gu Jin with a frown and asked in a harsh tone,

"Why did you use your magic? Don’t you know the rules? Come with me!"

Gu Jin was about to say something when she suddenly felt dizzy.

Her eyes turned wary and Gu Jin bit her lips to prevent herself from fainting.

She suddenly stood up and said,

"I have remembered some work, I will receive my punishment later..."

But the fat woman didn’t listen and held Gu Jin’s hand,

"Come with me."

Gu Jin tried to slap away the fate woman’s hands but her movements felt sluggish and weak.

She stumbled as the woman dragged her out of the self-study room, her vision blurring and her head spinning.

The boy with blue hair said,

"Ma’am it was me who instigated her please don’t

The boy’s voice trailed off as Gu Jin’s senses began to fade. Everything around her became hazy, and she struggled to keep herself upright as the woman continued to pull her along.

"What’s happening to me?" Gu Jin thought desperately, her mind racing with fear and confusion.

Looking at the fat woman, a possibility came into her mind and her heart sank.

As they moved through the corridors, Gu Jin’s vision blurred even further, and she felt herself slipping further into unconsciousness.

The sounds around her became muffled, and she could barely register the sensation of being dragged along.
