Chapter 55: Chapte 55: Deal With Alchemy Tower

With the furnace and after buying herb she could finally start a shop of her own!

She won’t need to worry about money then!

Gu Jin tried her luck and said,

"Purple Lily Herb."

No response.

Gu Jin didn’t give up and said 100 more names, all of which were common herbs.

Yet she didn’t get any.

Gu Jin stopped calling out names and decided to buy herbs for her first pill. At the same time, she decided to pay a visit to the elders of Alchemy Tower.

With a smile, Gu Jin went to her bed and closed her eyes, unaware of the storm she was going to face tomorrow.

Next day.

Gu Jin finished her classes, changed into Su Jin’s disguise, and walked towards the Alchemy Tower.

Once in the Alchemy Tower, the receptionist suddenly stood up and said to her,

"Just give me a minute."

Then she called someone and informed them that Gu Jin had arrived.

It didn’t take Gu Jin much time to realize that the receptionist was informing the elders about her arrival.

After saying ’okay’, the receptionist hung up the call and said in a polite tone,

"This way mister."

Saying so she started leading Gu Jin inside.

Gu Jin followed behind her.

The echoes of her footsteps seemed to reverberate with the weight of her purpose, driving her forward with each step she took.

Finally, Gu Jin reached the chamber where the three elders awaited her.

The atmosphere crackled with tension as she entered, the elders’ keen gazes locking onto her.

Gu Jin expected them to be angry or having an indifferent expression but the three elders still looked at her as if she was some sort of treasure.

Gu Jin looked at Old Wu and apologized,

"I am sorry for my behavior yesterday."

Old Wu shook his hand,

"No need child. You weren’t wrong in the first place. We shouldn’t have forced you so much!"

Old Wu’s words caught Gu Jin by surprise, his unexpected understanding thawing the tension that had lingered between them.

"Thank you, Elder Wu," Gu Jin replied, her voice laced with sincerity.

"I appreciate your understanding."

Old Xiang and Old Fan exchanged a knowing glance, their expressions softening as they observed the interaction between Gu Jin and Old Wu.

Old Wu was right! Even though the girl was cold she wasn’t arrogant. She was only guarding herself.

Old Wu continued,

"As you know, we have invited you here to take you as my disciple...."

"Our!" Old Xiang corrected him while sipping a cup of tea.

"I never thought of talking on your behalves, if you both want to take her as your disciple, dream on!"Old Wu said calmly.

Old Fan and Old Xiang were instantly angered and said,

"You are a cheater!"

"Yeah! You are a liar!"

Gu Jin was amused by their interaction.

Even though these elders in front of her were in an important position for so long their personalities didn’t change at all, which surprised her.

Old Wu coughed,

"Stop accusing me, you should better think of how to convince the genius to accept us as her mentor."

Even though Old Fan and Old Xiang were angry with Old Wu, they felt that he had a point and hence both of them shut their mouth.

"Jin, I have already introduced myself, so I won’t reintroduce myself. I will tell you my level. I am currently at the Black level Peak stage and I have a lot of knowledge on potions, and have inventions of my own, such as..."

Just like that Old Wu started talking about the great things he had done so far.

Hearing him Old Fan and Old Xiang decided to not sit quietly anymore and started talking about themselves.

Gu Jin was surprised to find that all three elders in front of her were Black Rank Peak Stage Alchemists.

Meaning they were much better than Master Qiao. However just because Master Qiao met her in the market and bought the formula from her, he was able to surpass them.

Suddenly Gu Jin had an idea.

She had originally come to Alchemy Tower to inform them that she wasn’t going to accept any of them as her mentor but now...

As Old Wu finished detailing his accomplishments, Gu Jin hesitated for a moment, considering her next words carefully.

She could sense the weight of their expectations resting upon her, their gazes fixed upon her with a mixture of curiosity and anticipation.

"Actually, elders," Gu Jin began, her voice steady but tinged with uncertainty,

"I came here today not to accept any of you as my mentor, but rather... to propose something different."

The three elders exchanged puzzled glances, their brows furrowing in confusion at Gu Jin’s unexpected declaration.

"What do you mean, child?" Old Fan asked, his tone laced with curiosity.

Gu Jin took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts before continuing.

"I want to be your friend," she said simply, her words hanging in the air with a weight that belied their simplicity.

Old Xiang’s eyes widened in surprise, while Old Wu and Old Fan exchanged incredulous glances, clearly taken aback by Gu Jin’s unexpected proposal.

"Friend?" Old Wu repeated, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Old Wu, Old Xiang, and Old Fan felt a bit uncomfortable.

Gu Jin understood their discomfort. After all, even if they acted polite and patient with her, it didn’t mean that they would leave their seniority until she was more talented than them.

Gu Jin nodded, her gaze unwavering as she met Old Wu’s incredulous stare.

She said calmly.

"I believe that true growth comes not only from instruction but from collaboration and mutual support. I want to learn from you, yes, but I also want to learn from you as equals, as friends."

Old Fan and Old Xiang exchanged bemused glances, clearly uncertain of how to respond to Gu Jin’s unconventional proposal.

"What exactly do you mean, child?" Old Xiang asked, his tone tinged with skepticism.

Gu Jin’s lips curved into a confident smile as she met Old Xiang’s questioning gaze.

"I have a way to increase your cultivation," she said, her voice filled with quiet determination.

The three elders exchanged skeptical glances, clearly skeptical of Gu Jin’s bold claim.

"Increase our cultivation?" Old Fan repeated, his tone tinged with incredulity.

"Child, do you truly expect us to believe such a fantastical claim?"

Gu Jin nodded, her expression unwavering as she met Old Fan’s skeptical gaze.

"I know it may sound unbelievable, elders," she said calmly.

"But I assure you, I have a method that can help unlock your latent potential and elevate your cultivation to new heights."

Old Wu, Old Xiang, and Old Fan exchanged skeptical glances, clearly uncertain of how to respond to Gu Jin’s bold assertion.

"Child, forgive our skepticism," Old Wu said, his tone tinged with doubt.

"But such claims are not to be taken lightly. What evidence do you have to support your assertion?"

He was trying his best to keep his words polite, yet the disbelief in his voice was visible.

Gu Jin’s smile widened, a spark of determination flickering in her eyes as she met Old Wu’s skeptical gaze.

"I understand your doubts, elders," she said calmly.

"But I assure you, I have seen the results of this method firsthand. What if I give you an ancient formula with its explanation?"

"Ancient pill formulas?" Old Xiang echoed, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Gu Jin nodded, her expression unwavering as she met Old Xiang’s incredulous stare.

"Yes, elders," she replied, her voice steady.

"I possess ancient pill formulas that have been passed down through generations, each imbued with the wisdom of the ages."

Old Fan leaned forward, his curiosity piqued despite his lingering doubts.

"Child, do you truly expect us to believe that you possess such priceless treasures?" he asked, his tone tinged with skepticism.

"I understand your doubts, elders," she said calmly.

"But I assure you, these ancient pill formulas are very much real, and I believe that they hold the key to unlocking your full potential and elevating your cultivation to new heights."

Old Wu, Old Xiang, and Old Fan exchanged uncertain glances, their skepticism warring with a flicker of hope at the tantalizing prospect of ancient wisdom.

"But such claims are not to be taken lightly. What evidence do you have to support your assertion?"

Gu Jin’s smile remained unwavering as she reached into her robe, retrieving a weathered scroll bound with ancient seals and inscriptions.

"I present to you, elders, one of the ancient pill formulas," she said, her voice filled with quiet confidence.

Old Wu, Old Xiang, and Old Fan leaned forward, their eyes widening in astonishment as Gu Jin unfurled the scroll, revealing the intricate symbols and diagrams that adorned its surface.

"By the heavens," Old Xiang breathed, his voice filled with awe as he traced the ancient runes with trembling fingers.

"These symbols... they are unlike anything I have ever seen before," Old Fan exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with a newfound sense of wonder.
