Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Green Tea B*tch
"If I can, I will." Long Yifan shouted back.
Gu Jin: "..."
She kept a straight face, but her cheeks slowly heated up.
Yan Mei stared at Gu Jin with a narrowed gaze and asked, "Jin are you blushing?"
"Nope." Gu Jin said with a straight face.
Yan Mei was about to probe more, but Gu Jin quickly turned and asked Luo Meng to practice with her.
Soon she forgot about Long Yifan’s words and was amazed by Luo Meng’s progress. Luo Meng had already reached the advanced rank and was on the verge of a breakthrough.
During one of the attacks, Luo Meng lost his balance and was about to fall when Gu Jin used her plant vines to save him.
"Easy there. Don’t push yourself too hard." Gu Jin warned him.
"Yes, master." Luo Meng flashed a smile. Sensing a gaze, he turned a saw Long Yifan staring at him with an intense gaze.
A glint flashed in his eyes. After a day, he realized Long Yifan’s scheme.
Long Yifan gave him a week to confess the truth to Gu Jin, it wasn’t because he was some kind of saint, he just wanted to torture him(Luo Meng) and distract him for a week, before telling the truth to Gu Jin.
In this way, he will become the saint, who didn’t tell the truth to protect Gu Jin’s happiness, while, he, Luo Meng will be clouded by the guilt of lying to Gu Jin.
Smart move.
But...
Luo Meng smirked at Long Yifan’s direction and the next second he fainted.
The students around Luo Meng were alarmed. Gu Jin rushed to his side and hurriedly patted Luo Meng’s face.
Long Yifan meanwhile remained calm.
Pretending to faint, to gain Gu Jin’s attention? How stupid! Gu Jin was a doctor, so she will know right away that Luo Meng was pretending to faint.
He waited for Gu Jin to check the pulse and Gu Jin didn’t disappoint him. She checked the pulse.
Unexpectedly, Gu Jin frowned and muttered in a soft voice, "Why do you push yourself when you are in so much pain."
Pain?
Long Yifan was stunned, he hurriedly walked up to Luo Meng and checked his pulse. To his surprise, it was clear that Luo Meng had fainted due to overexhaustion.
So he wasn’t pretending? Did he misunderstand Luo Meng?
He stood there awkwardly, watching as Gu Jin quickly took charge of the situation.
"Someone get water!" she ordered, her voice firm but not panicked.
A nearby student ran off, returning moments later with a bottle of water. Gu Jin tilted Luo Meng’s head slightly and poured a few drops on his lips.
"Luo Meng, wake up," she said softly, tapping his cheek.
Slowly, his eyelids fluttered open, and he blinked at her, dazed.
"Master?" he mumbled, his voice hoarse.
"You fainted," Gu Jin said, her tone stern. "I told you not to push yourself too hard."
Luo Meng gave a weak smile. "Sorry... I didn’t mean to worry you."
"You didn’t worry me," Gu Jin shot back, though her tone lacked its usual edge. "You worried everyone else. Now, sit still and rest."
As Luo Meng propped himself up, Gu Jin glanced at Long Yifan, who still looked somewhat perplexed.
"Don’t just stand there," she snapped at him. "Help me get him to the infirmary."
Long Yifan stiffened but quickly moved to Luo Meng’s other side, helping him to his feet.
The walk to the infirmary was quiet, save for Luo Meng’s occasional murmurs of apology. Gu Jin kept her expression neutral, but Long Yifan could see the faint crease of concern in her brow.
Once they arrived, Gu Jin helped Luo Meng onto a bed and turned to the attending medic.
"He fainted due to overexhaustion," she explained.
The healer nodded and cast a healing glance on Luo Meng. He stared at Luo Meng before asking,
"Did you stay up the whole night?"
Luo Meng lowered his gaze to the floor. His silence was the acceptance.
Gu Jin frowned and asked,
"Why? Why did you stay up the whole night?"
"Master...it was nothing."
"Tell me." Gu Jin emphasized.
Long Yifan saw Luo Meng’s pitiful face and suddenly remembered Gu Aihan. He gritted his teeth as an ominous feeling rose in his heart.
Sure enough the next second, Luo Meng tried to hide his hand.
Gu Jin quickly caught his moment, and roughly examined his hand. Seeing the deep gashes on his hand, she frowned and quickly thought of something.
Her expression turned ugly,
"Did you stay up all night just to get me the oranges? And are these deep injuries also caused due to the oranges."
Luo Meng hesitated, avoiding Gu Jin’s piercing gaze. "It’s not a big deal, Master," he said softly, his voice barely audible.
"Not a big deal?" Gu Jin’s tone was icy, her brows furrowing deeper. "You injured yourself and pushed your body to the limit... for oranges?"
Luo Meng shrank under her gaze but nodded hesitantly.
Long Yifan’s jaw tightened. He wanted to step in, but the intensity of Gu Jin’s anger rooted him to the spot.
"Do you have any idea how reckless that was?" Gu Jin continued, her voice rising slightly. "You could’ve seriously hurt yourself. Or worse!"
"I just wanted to make you happy," Luo Meng said, his voice cracking slightly. "You mentioned liking oranges, so I thought—"
"Stop." Gu Jin raised her hand, cutting him off.
"I appreciate the gesture, but this?" She gestured toward his bandaged hand. "This is not how you go about it."
The healer, who had been quietly tending to Luo Meng, cleared his throat. "Miss Gu is right. These injuries aren’t minor. If you’d let them worsen, it could’ve led to an infection or permanent damage."
Luo Meng winced at the admonishment, his shoulders slumping further.
Gu Jin took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
"Luo Meng," she said more softly, "your health is more important than a box of fruit. Promise me you won’t do something like this again."
"I promise, Master," Luo Meng murmured, looking genuinely regretful.
"Good," she said, her tone still firm but less sharp. "Don’t worry I will take care of you."
Long Yifan couldn’t help but panic hearing Gu Jin’s words and said,
"I don’t think oranges can cause such severe injuries..."
Long Yifan’s words hung in the air, drawing a sharp silence that seemed to freeze everyone in the room.
Gu Jin’s head snapped toward him, her eyes blazing with barely restrained fury.
"Insensitive," she said, her voice low but laced with venom.
"That’s the word for someone who stands here questioning the severity of injuries instead of offering a shred of compassion."
Long Yifan blinked, taken aback. "I didn’t mean it like that—"
"Then how did you mean it?" Gu Jin cut him off, stepping closer.
"Do you think he deliberately sliced his hands open for fun? Or are you implying that he’s exaggerating his pain?"
"Master, please," Luo Meng interjected weakly, his tone soft and pitiful.
"Don’t blame Senior Yifan. He’s just looking out for you."
Gu Jin’s frown deepened. "Looking out for me? By belittling someone else’s effort?"
"No, no," Luo Meng said hurriedly, his pale face looking even more delicate under the infirmary’s light.
"Senior Yifan didn’t mean to upset you. He just... He cares too, in his own way."
The words, though seemingly intended to defuse the situation, carried an undertone that twisted the knife further into Long Yifan’s side.
Gu Jin turned back to Long Yifan, her anger undiminished.
"Caring isn’t about making careless remarks. It’s about understanding what someone has been through and offering support, not standing there judging their actions."
Long Yifan clenched his fists, his jaw tight. "I wasn’t judging him. I—"
"Really?" Gu Jin’s voice rose slightly, her emotions bubbling to the surface.
"Because from where I’m standing, it looks like you’re more interested in finding fault than in helping him recover."
Luo Meng reached out a trembling hand toward Gu Jin, his voice soft and frail.
"Please, Master. Don’t be angry. It’s my fault for causing trouble in the first place."
"It is your fault." Long Yifan glared at Luo Meng.
"Instructor Yifan we don’t need you here. Please leave." Gu Jin calmly said.
"Jin, he clearly did everything so that he can gain your sympathy! Why can’t you see!" Long Yifan was anxious.
He was ready to lose Gu Jin as long as Luo Meng won Gu Jin’s affection fair and square, but what Luo Meng was doing right now was pure cheating!
Gu Jin rolled her eyes,
"He has been by my side for 3 years, why would he suddenly do such a stunt to gain my pity? Do you even understand what you are saying?"
’But earlier he didn’t want to compete with me at all!’ Long Yifan wanted to shout, but he could leave under Gu Jin’s cold gaze.
For the first time he realized how Gu Jin might have felt after saving him from the ocean.
