Chapter 368: Mana Testing

Chapter 368: Chapter 368: Mana Testing

Once the team combat was over, Long Yifan gave each person a personalized set of exercises and asked them to go over it.

The students were surprised to find that the note in their hands was filled with the mistakes they had committed during the individual and team combat.

They thought Long Yifan was solely focused on Gu Jin, but in reality, he took in everything and made a perfect workout plan for them.

Gu Jin stared at the workout plan in her plan with mixed emotions.

"Feeling touched?" A slightly amused voice sounded near her ears.

Gu Jin coldly chuckled, "Nope. Did you forget the warning I have given you earlier?"

Long Yifan paused for a brief moment before saying,

"I remember. And I am willing. Even if you break my heart, I won’t give up."

Before Gu Jin could reply to him, Luo Meng’s voice sounded,

"Master! Let’s go and watch a movie."

Long Yifan turned to look at the young man who had a joyful smile on his face.

Luo Meng sensing Long Yifan’s gaze, quickly looked away.

The conversation they had just a few minutes ago flashed in his mind.

"How much do you know." He had asked.

"Everything. Everything about how you claimed to be the person who saved Gu Jin and how you have taken all of my credit and now using it to gain Gu Jin’s favor." Long Yifan answered nonchalantly.

Luo Meng’s chest pounded with fear. He could feel his whole body turned cold.

For a moment he wanted to rush over and tell Gu Jin everything. He didn’t want to give Long Yifan a chance to snitch on him.

But his greed and fear didn’t let him.

His fear of how Gu Jin will react once she knows the truth and greed of not being able to let Gu Jin go.

Yet he asked the question bugging him,

"So why? Why didn’t you tell her the truth?"

Long Yifan calmly wrote on the paper, as if indifferent to his surroundings, yet he replied to Luo Meng,

"Because I don’t want to break her heart anymore. You are her friend. The person she trusts the most and she will definitely not want to hear your dirty secret from someone else.

I will give you 1 week. Go and tell her. If you admit it now, she will not hold it against you. "

Luo Meng gulped,

"You will tell her the truth after 1 week if I didn’t?"

Long Yifan nodded.

"I am giving you a chance. Don’t waste it. I wasted a golden opportunity and I don’t want you to repeat the same mistake again."

Luo Meng’s eyes flashed with complex emotions.

He did dislike Long Yifan. After all Long Yifan had rejected his goddess.

But now...seeing how Long Yifan didn’t use the leverage against him to gain Gu Jin’s favor, he couldn’t bring himself to dislike Long Yifan anymore.

If Long Yifan wanted...he could have told everything to Gu Jin and used the credits from earlier to ask Gu Jin to forgive him, but he didn’t...

Just because he didn’t want to hurt Gu Jin again.

Earlier Luo Meng didn’t feel any remorse for stealing Long Yifan’s credit, because he thought it would be better. After all Long Yifan didn’t like Gu Jin.

But now that he thinks about everything...if Long Yifan didn’t love Gu Jin...why did he even save her in the first place?

Luo Meng left without giving any answer to Long Yifan.

"Sure." Gu Jin’s cold voice, helped Luo Meng snap out of his daze and he nodded.

Even after leaving the training field, he could still feel the gaze of Long Yifan.

Gu Jin and Luo Meng watched a movie together. But during the entire time, Luo Meng’s focus wasn’t on the movie.

Gu Jin was confused.

She agreed to Luo Meng’s suggestion in the first place because Luo Meng had requested it in the first place.

Now, however, it seemed as if...she was the one who was after him.

"Since you are busy, I will leave first." Gu Jin said calmly and before waiting for Luo Meng’s answer left.

Luo Meng felt guilty and didn’t stop Gu Jin right away.

Gu Jin returned to her dorm, and took a shower, before heading to the mana testing room.

She wanted to know if her mana had exceeded 1000. Normally the element is awakened if the mana exceeds 500 points.

At the high school level, the scale to measure the mana could only be up to 1000, but universities were different.

Some geniuses, don’t awaken their second element till they reach Emperor Rank. Reason? They want to become proficient in one element before starting to cultivate others.

Even Gu Jin was thinking of the same thing.

She had 5 five elements now. Mutated Plant, Fire, Dark fire, Necromancy, and Thunder.

Her cultivation in thunder was almost zero.

Due to the constant troubles and the breaks she had taken, she didn’t have the time to cultivate her thunder element.

Heck, even if she assigns two hours to each of her elements and two hours to her minor subjects, Gu Jin doubted if she could make any progress.

To be honest Gu Jin didn’t want to awaken any new elements now.

But to her dismay, if she didn’t she would have to face the consequences.

Does her body listen to her advice? F*cking no!

It would randomly start to awaken elements.

Gu Jin shivered when she remembered the pain she suffered on each self-awakening. This time she vowed not to self-awaken.

Instead, it would be better to awaken an element using elemental stone.

But first, she needs to see what her mana level is and how many elements she can awaken.

’It has to be three.’ Gu Jin thought. However, to confirm, she went to the mana testing room. Compared to the bustling training field, the room was empty.

However, she noticed she wasn’t alone.

Standing off to the side was a blue-haired girl with a nervous expression.

The girl turned her head at the sound of footsteps.

The moment her eyes landed on Gu Jin, her face twisted with unmistakable dislike.

Gu Jin recognized her immediately.

It was Nan Bei, one of Gu Aihan’s loyal lackeys.

Nan Bei’s lips curled into a sneer, but Gu Jin paid her no attention.

Instead, she moved to stand in line, waiting for her turn at the crystal.

Nan Bei’s gaze followed her like a hawk.

Then, as if suddenly inspired, she left her spot in line, walking away with exaggerated indifference.

Gu Jin smirked inwardly, immediately understanding what Nan Bei was up to.

Ah, so she wants me to go first. Clever, but predictable.

Nan Bei’s plan was simple: she wanted to see Gu Jin’s mana reading.

If it was high, she’d quietly leave. But if it was low, she’d have a perfect opportunity to mock her.

Gu Jin wasn’t annoyed by the petty tactic. In fact, she welcomed it.

Why not take advantage of this little trick? At least I don’t have to wait long.

With her usual composure, Gu Jin stepped forward, taking Nan Bei’s vacated spot in line.

Nan Bei’s expression darkened, her eyes narrowing as she whispered to a few others nearby.

"Did you hear? Gu Aihan awakened four elements at just 22. What a genius."

"Yeah," another chimed in, loud enough for Gu Jin to hear.

"Unlike some people who only have two elements and still think they’re impressive."

The whispers and giggles were obviously meant to provoke her, but Gu Jin didn’t so much as flinch.

She stood tall, ignoring them completely.

Finally, it was her turn.

She approached the crystal with measured steps, her face calm and unreadable.

The blue crystal sat on a pedestal, glowing faintly. Its surface was smooth, reflecting the faint light of the room.

Gu Jin placed her hand on the crystal and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath, steadying her energy.

Then, she began channeling her mana into the crystal.

At first, the glow was faint.

Then it grew stronger, and brighter until the entire room was bathed in a brilliant light. Gasps filled the air as the crystal’s glow intensified, almost too bright to look at.

And then, the number appeared.

1700.

The room fell into complete silence.

Every single person stared at the crystal, their mouths hanging open in shock.

Even Nan Bei, who had been watching closely, looked like she had seen a ghost.

"Seventeen hundred...?" someone muttered, barely able to believe it.

"That’s... that’s more than triple the threshold for awakening an element!"

"How is that even possible?"

Nan Bei’s face turned pale, her earlier smugness replaced by disbelief and panic.

She opened her mouth to say something but couldn’t form any words.

Gu Jin slowly pulled her hand back from the crystal, her expression calm, almost bored.

She turned and glanced at Nan Bei, whose face had turned red with embarrassment.

Nan Bei tried to recover, stammering,

"I-It’s just numbers. It doesn’t mean anything. Gu Aihan still awakened four elements at 22!"
