Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Truth Revealed-2

Long Yifan was frustrated but he could only hold it in and said,

"Alright. Keep on searching."

He hung up the call. It took him a lot of time to calm down, but he eventually did.

’No! You can’t be frustrated for now, Long Yifan! You have to break off the engagement and..."

"Yifan! Yifan!" Jasmine’s high-pitched voice startled Long Yifan who turned around and stared at Jasmine with a confused expression.

"Sister, why are you shouting? I am here." Long Yifan frowned.

There was a silence for a while before, Jasmine appeared in the corridor. Relief flashed in her eyes and she hurriedly said,

"Yifan you can’t break off the engagement!"

Long Yifan was surprised before determination flashed in his eyes,

"Sister, if you are thinking about Mother’s last wish, then I am sorry...I truly can’t fulfill it. I will apologize to Mother in the netherworld."

Jasmine shook her head with an anxious expression,m

"No! Yifan you don’t know who the true daughter of the Gu Family is!" Jasmine blurted out, her voice trembling as if she was trying to keep calm but failing miserably.

Long Yifan blinked at her, his brows furrowing in confusion.

"Sister it doesn’t matter who the true daughter of the Gu Family is. Even if she is the princess of some royal family, I won’t marry her...."

Jasmine: "..." If she didn’t know her brother’s true identity, she might have thought that her brother was exaggerating stuff.

But her brother did receive a marriage proposal from the princess of a royal family once.

Jasmine grabbed his arm and pulled him closer, lowering her voice as if sharing a big secret.

"Yifan, the true daughter of the Gu family... it’s Gu Jin!"

Long Yifan froze. For a moment, he thought he’d misheard her.

"What? Gu Jin? How is that possible?"

Jasmine nodded quickly, her expression serious. "It’s true! She’s the one under that veil."

Long Yifan stood frozen, Jasmine’s words echoing in his ears.

For a moment, he couldn’t believe it. Then, as the realization hit him, a slow grin spread across his face.

"She’s... Gu Jin," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.

A warm, almost giddy feeling bubbled up in his chest. He felt like the luckiest man alive.

The woman he had fallen for—the woman who had captivated his heart—was the true daughter of the Gu family. And, most importantly, she was his fiancée!

Long Yifan’s grin widened, his mind racing with thoughts of what this meant. He didn’t have to hide his feelings anymore.

He could openly pursue Gu Jin, shower her with the love she deserved, and prove to her how much she meant to him.

He could already imagine their future. He’d make it up to her for everything, treat her like a queen, and...

But then, like a thunderclap, the joy in his heart turned to dread. His grin faded, and his expression darkened as memories came rushing back.

The way he had ignored her. The harsh words he had spoken. The times he had defended Gu Aihan, not knowing the truth.

His chest tightened.

What had he done?

He had pushed her away when she needed him most. He had hurt her, betrayed her trust, and left her to fend for herself.

Now, even if they were engaged, how could he face her? How could he ask for forgiveness when he had been so blind and cruel?

Jasmine noticed the change in his mood. She saw the light leave his eyes and his shoulders slump.

"Yifan," she said softly, touching his arm. "What’s wrong?"

He looked at her, his face pale and full of guilt.

"Jasmine... I hurt her. I hurt her so much. How can I ever make it right?"

Jasmine sighed, squeezing his arm reassuringly.

"Yifan, listen to me. Yes, you made mistakes, and yes, you hurt her. But it’s not too late."

"But what if she doesn’t forgive me?" he whispered, his voice trembling.

"Then you work hard to earn her forgiveness," Jasmine said firmly.

"You don’t give up, Yifan. If you really care about her, you’ll show her. You’ll prove that you’ve changed."

Long Yifan nodded slowly, though his heart still felt heavy.

"I will," he said, determination creeping into his voice.

"I’ll do whatever it takes. I’ll apologize, I’ll kneel if I have to—whatever she asks. I won’t stop until she forgives me."

Jasmine smiled, relieved to see her brother’s resolve returning.

"That’s the spirit. Now, come on. The banquet isn’t over yet. You still have time to show her who you really are."

Long Yifan took a deep breath and straightened his posture.

"You’re right," he said. "I can’t waste any more time. I’ll make it right."

Long Yifan and Jasmine walked back into the brightly lit banquet hall.

The room was buzzing with chatter, laughter, and clinking glasses, but Long Yifan barely noticed any of it.

His mind was a storm of emotions—determination to make things right and anxiety about how Gu Jin would react when he apologized.

"Stay calm," Jasmine whispered, giving his arm a light squeeze.

Her reassuring smile helped settle his nerves, but only a little.

Just as they were about to blend into the crowd, the lights dimmed slightly, and all eyes turned to the stage. Mr. Gu stepped up to the microphone.

His expression was serious, and the room instantly fell silent.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Mr. Gu began, his deep voice carrying through the hall.

"Thank you all for coming tonight to celebrate this special occasion. But before we continue, I have something very important to share with you."

Long Yifan straightened, his heart pounding. He could sense that something significant was about to happen.

Mr. Gu paused for a moment, his gaze sweeping across the room. Then, he continued,

"Tonight, I want to make two announcements that will forever change the Gu family."

A murmur rippled through the crowd, but Mr. Gu raised his hand, silencing them.

"The first announcement is about Gu Aihan," he said, his voice firm.

"For 21 years, we believed she was my daughter. We raised her as part of our family, gave her everything we could, and loved her dearly. But recently, we discovered the truth."

Gasps and whispers broke out among the guests, but Mr. Gu pressed on.

"Gu Aihan is not my biological daughter," he said. "She has no connection to the Gu family. She was mistakenly swapped at birth with my true daughter."

Long Yifan’s eyes widened. Even though he already knew part of the truth, hearing it from Mr. Gu made it feel more real.

"We have confirmed this through thorough investigation and DNA testing," Mr. Gu explained.

"This discovery has been painful, but we cannot ignore the truth."

There was a brief pause as Mr. Gu seemed to gather his emotions.

Then, he lifted his chin and said, "Now, for my second announcement."

The room was so quiet that Long Yifan could hear his own heartbeat.

"My true daughter is here tonight," Mr. Gu declared, his voice filled with pride and emotion.

"She has endured so much because of this mistake, yet she has shown strength and grace. Today, I want to introduce her to the world."

The crowd erupted into shocked whispers and excited murmurs.

Long Yifan felt his breath catch in his throat. He clenched his fists, his heart racing with anticipation.

As Mr. Gu gestured toward the side of the stage, everyone turned their attention there, waiting to see who would step forward.

As Gu Jin walked gracefully to the center of the stage, the room fell into a hushed silence.

All eyes were on her, trying to catch a glimpse of the mysterious woman behind the black veil.

The soft rustle of her gown was the only sound in the vast banquet hall.

Long Yifan stood rooted to his spot, his heart pounding.

It was her. He was certain of it.

The way she moved, the calmness she carried despite the overwhelming attention—it could only be Gu Jin.

His hands balled into fists at his sides as guilt surged through him.

How could he have been so blind? How could he have let her endure so much without even realizing who she truly was?

Mr. Gu stepped forward, his voice steady but filled with emotion.

"Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce my true daughter. She is the one we lost for so many years, and tonight, she has finally taken her rightful place."

Long Yifan felt his chest tighten.

She looked so dignified, so strong—yet all he could think about was the pain she must have endured.

And he... he had been one of the people who made her life harder.

Jasmine nudged him gently. "Yifan," she whispered, "go to her. Say something."

Long Yifan shook his head, his voice low and shaky.

"I... I can’t. Not yet. Look at her, Jasmine. She’s so incredible, and I... I don’t deserve to stand beside her right now."

Jasmine frowned.

"You’re her fiancé, Yifan. She needs to know you’re on her side now. If you keep hesitating, you’ll only make it worse."

Before Long Yifan could respond, Mr. Gu’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
