Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Truth Revealed -1

With a smile he wished,

"Then brother, I will hope that you will achieve your dream."

However, Long Yeiling’s eyes flashed, and a plan was forming in his mind.

As long as he can hook up with the true daughter of the Gu Family, Long Yifan’s heart will be shattered.

What can be more satisfying than that?

Long Yifan nodded at Long Yeiling, as if completely unaware of the mischievous plan forming in his brother’s head.

He adjusted his cuffs and stood straighter, his eyes glued to the entrance of the hall.

Jasmine rolled her eyes, tugging at Long Yifan’s arm again.

"Brother, relax! You’re acting like some lovesick teenager."

"I’m not lovesick," Long Yifan said with a smirk. "I’m just determined."

Meanwhile, Gu Jin and her family arrived outside the banquet hall.

The grand building sparkled with golden lights, and the sound of soft classical music floated through the air.

Gu Jin stepped out of the car, her black gown flowing elegantly as she adjusted the strands of hair framing her face.

Gu Jichun took out a black veil and helped Gu Jin wear it.

"Jin, wear it. We can’t let others see your face till you reach the stage."

"Hm." Gu Jin nodded.

Seeing the obedient expression on Gu Jin’s face, Gu Jichun’s heart melted and she extended her hand to pull Gu Jin’s cheeks.

A pale bony hand held Gu Jichun’s hand and Gu Jichun heard the familiar gentlemanly yet stern voice,

"Don’t, her makeup will be ruined."

Gu Jichun stared at Gu Jihu’s hand and for a moment she wanted nothing more than to bite it.

At first, she was only a bit suspicious, but now she was sure. Her second brother doesn’t want her to pull Gu Jin’s cheeks just because he didn’t have the chance to do so.

Gu Jichun stared at Gu Jihu for a few seconds, before a smirk appeared on her face.

"Okay~"

Before Long Yeiling could respond, a hush fell over the crowd. Heads turned toward the grand entrance.

The Gu Family was about to arrive.

Long Yifan’s phone started to ring. When he saw the caller’s name, his expression changed.

It was the call from his subordinate who was reporting to him on where Gu Jin was.

Just then loud background music was started. Not wanting it to interrupt his conversation, Long Yifan went outside through the back doors.

Meanwhile, Jasmine was curious as to whom the true daughter was staring intently.

The hall, already buzzing with chatter, fell completely silent.

Leading the group was Mr. Gu, walking confidently in a tailored suit, his sharp eyes scanning the room. Beside him was Mrs. Gu.

Behind them walked Gu Jihu and Gu Jichun, both looking polished and charismatic.

But what captured everyone’s attention was the woman in the black gown walking at the center of the group.

A thin, mysterious black veil covered her face, making it impossible to see her features clearly.

The shimmer of her dress caught the light, and the delicate embroidery on its hem hinted at an otherworldly elegance.

A hushed murmur rippled through the crowd.

"Who is she?" whispered one guest.

"That must be the true daughter of the Gu family," another replied.

"The Gu family has been keeping her identity a secret for so long. I wonder why?"

All eyes were on the veiled woman.

She walked gracefully, her head held high, her movements calm and controlled.

Jasmine, standing by the side, watched the scene with wide eyes.

She couldn’t take her gaze off the veiled figure.

There was something hauntingly familiar about the way she walked, the way her gown flowed around her.

"Why do I feel like I’ve seen her before?" Jasmine murmured to herself.

Her heart thudded in her chest as she tried to piece together her thoughts.

Suddenly, the veiled woman turned her head slightly, her gaze sweeping over the crowd. For a brief moment, their eyes met.

Jasmine froze.

Beneath the veil, a pair of piercing red eyes glimmered, their intensity burning into her soul. Jasmine gasped softly, her heart skipping a beat.

She knew those eyes. She had seen them before.

"Red eyes..." Jasmine whispered, her voice barely audible. Images from her past flashed in her mind—of Gu Jin.

Gu Jin had always been distant and cold, but there was no mistaking her striking red eyes. Jasmine had never seen anyone else with such a gaze.

The more she thought about it, the more the pieces fell into place.

The figure, the posture, the way she held herself—it was all too similar to Gu Jin.

"Could it be?" Jasmine’s mind raced. "Is the true daughter of the Gu family... Gu Jin?"

The idea sounded absurd at first, but the more Jasmine considered it, the more it made sense.

Jasmine’s hands trembled slightly as she clutched the fabric of her dress. If this was true, it would explain so much.

Such as...why her brother fell for Gu Jin.

Such as why Gu Aihan was so desperately targeting Gu Jin.

She wanted to say something, but her voice wouldn’t come out.

Her throat felt dry, her mind spinning with this wild revelation.

Just then, the veiled woman’s gaze lingered on Jasmine for a moment longer before turning away, as if she hadn’t noticed Jasmine’s reaction.

But for Jasmine, that brief connection was enough to leave her shaken.

As the Gu family continued walking toward the main seating area, the whispers around the hall grew louder.

"Do you think she’s as beautiful as they say?"

"She must be. Look at the way she carries herself."

"I wonder what her real name is. Surely the Gu family wouldn’t keep it hidden for long?"

Jasmine suddenly felt sympathetic towards her brother.

Her brother ignored Gu Jin, for Gu Aihan because of his mother’s last wish that he has to treat the Gu Family’s second daughter kindly and be married to her.

When his brother finally figured everything out, it was too late, Gu Jin was already heartbroken.

Now that her brother had come to the banquet to break off the engagement to prove his sincerity to Gu Jin... Gu Jin became the true daughter of the Gu Family.

Mess!

Everything is everything is a mess!

Suddenly Jasmine’s eyes widened.

Sh*t! She will have to stop her brother from breaking off the engagement.

Jasmine clenched her fists, panic spreading through her chest. "What should I do?" she whispered to herself, glancing around nervously.

Her gaze darted toward the back doors where Long Yifan had disappeared earlier. She needed to find him before he made a move.

"Jasmine, are you alright?" a familiar voice asked, pulling her out of her thoughts.

She turned to see Long Yeiling standing nearby, a curious look on his face.

"I’m fine," Jasmine replied quickly, forcing a smile.

What a joke.

Long Yifan already messed up by telling all the bullsh*t to Long Yeiling, which now has become the truth.

God!

Knowing she had to clear this mess, Jasmine immediately put on a troubled expression, hesitantly glanced at the back door, and hurriedly rushed there.

Long Yeiling feeling as if something was amiss followed behind.

Though the true daughter of the Gu Family was beautiful and he truly wanted to see the beautiful face behind the mask, for now, it was important to see what Jasmine was worried about.

Maybe Long Yifan was in danger.

If Long Yifan was in danger, then he, Long Yeiling could use the opportunity to completely destroy Long Yifan.

With that thought he followed behind.

Jasmine took out her phone and once she was sure that Long Yeiling was following behind, she immediately asked on her phone in a small voice,

"Hello? Have you found Gu Aihan? Great! My brother would be so happy! Huh? Gu Jin? Don’t worry, my brother doesn’t love her, he just said so, so that he can mislead Long Yeiling."

Long Yeiling’s steps slowed when he heard Jasmine’s words.

His sharp ears caught every word she said into the phone.

His lips curled into a sly smile as he thought, Interesting... so my dear brother has no real feelings for Gu Jin after all. This changes everything.

Jasmine, pretending to be deeply engrossed in her conversation, stole a glance over her shoulder.

Good. He’s buying it.

She raised her voice just enough for Long Yeiling to hear clearly,

"Yeah, yeah, Gu Aihan is all he cares about. He’s been waiting to break the engagement with Gu Jin just so he can be free to chase after her. Isn’t that sweet?"

Her tone was light, but her heart pounded.

She was playing a risky game, but if it meant throwing Long Yeiling off, it was worth it.

Meanwhile, outside near the banquet’s back door, Long Yifan was pacing as he talked on the phone with his subordinate.

"What do you mean you can’t confirm Gu Jin’s location?" he snapped.

The subordinate stammered, "S-Sir, it’s hard to track her movements."
