The Mighty Mage -
Chapter 243: Three Forces
Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Three Forces
The leader of the group furrowed his brow, realizing that things had just gotten more complicated.
Fei Hanzhu crossed his arms and looked directly at the officer in charge.
"Before you take anyone into custody, you’ll need to clear a few things with the Magic Association. Especially when it comes to someone under my protection."
The officer seemed to hesitate but then replied,
"We have our orders. This is a military matter, Captain Fei, and you have no jurisdiction here."
Fei Hanzhu smirked, stepping closer, his blue eyes flashing with a dangerous glint.
"You’d be surprised how much influence I have when it comes to international matters, especially when they’re as absurd as the charges you’ve written here."
He pointed at the paper Gu Jin held, where the fabricated charges against Lu Siyao were listed.
"Leaking confidential information? To a neighboring country?" Fei Hanzhu scoffed. "And how did you reach this conclusion? Not to mention, how did an orphan who rarely had contact with any higher authorities, can leak information to the neighboring country when she had lived in this nation since her birth?"
The officer’s face turned red with frustration, but before he could say anything, Gu Jin stepped in again.
"Look, we’re not refusing an investigation. But if you think we’re going to let you take her away based on false charges, without any oversight, you’re mistaken. Captain Fei is now officially involved."
The officers exchanged nervous glances.
They hadn’t expected someone from the Magic Association to intervene, especially not someone with Fei Hanzhu’s reputation.
Who was Fei Hanzhu? He was the heir of the Fei Family, had connections in the military, was related to the Magic Association, and was a special force officer himself.
As long as Fei Hanzhu makes a call, he will know that these charges are fabricated.
Then he will press some other charges and punish them. At worst, they might even lose their jobs!
It would be better if they stopped this matter for now.
"Fine," the officer finally conceded. "We’ll report this back but don’t think this is over."
Fei Hanzhu smiled confidently. "Oh, I’m counting on it."
As the soldiers reluctantly left the room, Lu Siyao let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding.
Her knees buckled slightly, and she slumped into the nearest chair.
"I thought they were really going to take me."
Gu Jin chuckled,
"Even if he wasn’t here, I could have dealt with this matter on my own. You haven’t done anything and they can’t take you away."
Fei Hanzhu couldn’t help but nod his head.
For some reason, more than three different forces had asked the top authorities of the Magic Association to look after Gu Jin and deal with any trouble she might face.
He knew Gu Jin was talking about the alchemy association, but what Gu Jin didn’t know was the people of the Magic Association were also backing her up.
Thinking about the identities of those three forces, Fei Hanzhu broke out in cold sweat.
The first force was the Ma Family. He didn’t know as to why they were protecting Gu Jin, but they were doing their best.
The second force was the newly emerged force named Dark Knight. It was one of the forces that helped the Magic Association to collect information and investigate related matters.
The third force was a mysterious organization named Moonlight.
If Moonlight announced them to be second in terms of power and influence, no one would dare to call themselves first.
Even the government wouldn’t dare to provoke them.
Then there was an alchemy association and a few more forces who made the same request to the Magic Association.
Just thinking about how ignorant Gu Jin was of her position in the Magic Association and the powerful forces backing her, Fei Hanzhu couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and concern.
It wasn’t just the fact that these forces were involved—it was the way they protected her, almost as if Gu Jin was at the center of something far larger than she realized.
Gu Jin, completely unaware of these powerful entities moving behind the scenes, continued in her usual calm manner.
She had no idea that the protection she assumed was her own strength was actually a combination of high-level individuals and organizations working quietly in her favor.
"Well, regardless," Fei Hanzhu said, pushing the thoughts aside for the moment, "Can you tell me whom do you provoke?"
Lu Siyao wasn’t the type of person who would commit such things and the military would never fabricate any evidence until and unless the person is truly a criminal or they have received orders from the higher-ups.
"I don’t know." Lu Siyao shook her head.
Fei Hanzhu sighed and suddenly said,
"I think I know who is behind all of these things."
"You do?" All three of them were curious.
"Hm. But before that Gu Jin, I would like to ask you some questions and I would appreciate it if you could answer me truly."
"Please go ahead."
"How have you offended the 1% group?" Fei Hanzhu asked.
Gu Jin frowned. Before remembering who the 1% group was.
Anger started to appear in Gu Jin’s eyes.
If a chance was given she would definitely kill all the members of the 1% group. Those b*stards used numbers to overwhelm her.
If they weren’t 4 and she wasn’t so injured and her space was active, she could have easily dealt with them.
(She is talking about the 2 girls and 2 boys group she had met after killing a master rank beast in the mistwood.)
Though each of them was at the peak Super Rank, she was powerful enough to hold 2 Super Rank Mage on her own.
Her dark fire elements and other elements were much more powerful than some other mage’s elements.
Hence she wanted to meet them again and even out the grudge between them.
But who would have thought that even after trying for so long she won’t be able to find them?
At last, she concluded that they might have left due to some urgent work or maybe because they were scared of something.
Now hearing the name of the 1% group, Gu Jin suspected that they were the ones who were behind this mess.
Gu Jin didn’t shy away and told Fei Hanzhu everything. At last, she asked,
"Are those 4 the ones who are trying to seek revenge?"
Fei Hanzhu stared at Gu Jin with a complex expression.
"Hmm? Did something happen?" Gu Jin asked in a soft tone when she sensed Fei Hanzhu’s silence.
"All 4 of them are dead." Fei Hanzhu said with a gloomy face.
"Huh?" Gu Jin was surprised and repeated, "All of them are dead...but how?"
"I don’t know. But one thing that I know for sure is...now they want to kill you and people around you." Fei Hanzhu sighed when he finished his sentence.
"Why me?" Gu Jin asked with confusion.
"Because they think you have murdered them." Fei Hanzhu answered.
Lu Siyao stood up and asked,
"Wait! Jin’er you have murdered someone?"
"Yes but not them." Gu Jin shook her head with confidence.
Lu Siyao: "..." Wow...your confidence is truly amazing!
Liang Bao: "...." Sister can you not be so casual?
Fei Hanzhu: "..." Why do her words sound so similar to his best friends?
Gu Jin explained,
"I did kill the first guy who claimed that he was from some 1% group, but I don’t know about the rest of 4 people. But...from your words, it is clear that they don’t have any proof that I was one the who had killed those 4, right ?"
Gu Jin wished that Fei Hanzhu would give the answer ’yes’
She doesn’t remember what happened after she lost her memory and how she ended up in a tent.
She didn’t want to think that she had some other power or person or personality hidden in her deep consciousness which gets activated when she is in danger...
"Yes." Fei Hanzhu nodded. "In fact, they only have one video. In the video, you were killing a guy with your plant vines and you were the last person in the scene with those 4 people before they disappeared," Fei Hanzhu continued, his tone cautious.
"That’s the only evidence they have. It’s shaky at best, but it’s enough to fuel their accusations."
Gu Jin let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding.
"So they don’t have proof that I killed all of them. Just the first one." She paused, thinking. "Which means someone else might be responsible for the others."
Fei Hanzhu nodded.
"That’s what I believe. Do you think someone was trying to frame you?"
Gu Jin shook her head with certainty,
"No!"
If someone truly wanted to frame her, they wouldn’t have bandaged her wounds.
"So? Who do you think is behind all of this?" Fei Hanzhu asked.
Lu Siyao hesitated and suggested,
"Maybe it is Gu Aihan."
And just like that Gu Aihan had to bear one more black pot on her head.
