The Mighty Mage
Chapter 236: Stopping The Wedding

Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Stopping The Wedding

If Gu Aihan was a loyal woman, she(Jasmine) would have never mentioned Gu Jin in front of Long Yifan.

In the past 3 years, even though she was away, she kept tabs on Gu Aihan.

Though she(Jasmine) doesn’t like to shame any other girl, for Gu Aihan, she could only come up with a single word ’wh*re’

That girl was like a rabbit in heat. And she craved attention and power so much, that she didn’t feel guilty breaking someone’s else relationship.

Though Gu Aihan was powerful, beautiful, alchemy, and had a good background, what is the use if she can’t stay loyal?

Jasmine gritted her teeth in anger when she thought how Gu Aihan had the fun of her life while her brother suffered and could only stay away from his love.

The mere thought of how her brother loved Gu Jin, never mistreated Gu Aihan, and yet that b*tch(Gu Aihan) ignored him just because he was a ’loser’

Thank god her brother wasn’t dumb enough to tell Gu Aihan about his true identity.

But...

Thinking of the upcoming marriage ceremony at the year’s end, Jasmine started to worry. Her good brother may truly... proceed with it. However, if she let it happen then she would never feel relief...

Jasmine bit her lips and took a deep breath.

In fact, she was lying...she was lying when she said she didn’t know about Gu Jin’s appearance.

She knew it. Not only that...

She was also thinking of ways to prove that Gu Jin was the daughter of the Gu family. Her gut feelings told her that Gu Jin was related to the Gu Family.

It was because of what her mother had said. Long’s and Gu’s were destined to be together. They fall in love and will eventually prosper together.

She never knew why but it was true...that her past self did fall in love with one of the young masters of the Gu family.

So it could only mean...that Gu Jin was related to the Gu family.

Not to mention there were too many suspicious points regarding Gu Jin.

Her surname was Gu, her face looked very similar to Gu Aihan’s grandmother, and she even had the aura of one of the Gu family.

Jasmine shook her head.

She would eventually find a lead. For now, it is very important to stop the wedding.

.....

In the Inn of Feywood.

Gu Jin rested for a few days and when she felt better, she thought of checking the artifact.

She entered the space and opened the box.

Inside the box was a beautiful ring. The ring looked like a coiled-up snake. It was made of silver.

The space said,

"Master, I advise you to wear it later. If you wear it now, you will trigger another awakening."

Gu Jin hurriedly closed the box.

No kidding, others only have to worry about 2 elements at advanced rank while she has to worry about 4 elements now...

Why was her life so...hard?

"Master, have you decided?"

Gu Jin shook her head,

"Though I find your explanation very logical that I should opt for the Undead Element as my fifth element can cover up for my fourth element and no one will know that I am a necromancer...I still think...I want to awaken some other element."

"As you wish master." The space said.

Gu Jin walked up to the field of psychomindris, and her eyes lit up.

In her eyes, the psychomindris herbs field was like money. Then her eyes fell on Skeleton herb.

If she could sell a few of these she could earn a few more millions.

She can’t be blamed for constantly thinking about money...after all, she owes someone 18 billion.

Thinking of the 18 billion of debt on her head, Gu Jin’s motivation to earn more money ignited.

Just then the space interrupted her,

"Master, your friend has knocked on the door."

Gu Jin exited the space and opened the door.

Liang Bao and Lu Siyao walked inside.

"Jin was this the orphanage you have grown in?" Liang Bao asked.

Gu Jin looked at the orphanage name and nodded.

"Good. I will book the tickets, you go and get ready. The ticket will be for the evening since we don’t have much time left and many things need to be investigated."

Gu Jin could only nod.

Soon the trio set for the orphanage.

By the time they reached the orphanage, it was already night. They decided to stay in a nearby hotel.

Gu Jin wanted to cultivate for some time, so she entered her space.

At midnight, the space suddenly said,

"Master some shadow assassin has entered the hotel room."

"Shadow assassin? Wait how do you know they are shadow assassins." Gu Jin was confused.

Shadow assassin was like the contracted killer in her previous life. The only difference was, that the shadow assassin had the power to kill a person even before the person realized that a shadow assassin was near him.

Shadow Element was one of the most powerful elements a mage could awaken. Even Gu Jin wanted to awaken a shadow element.

Shadow Element had many powerful attacks. But the thing that attracted Gu Jin the most was...how convenient this element was.

It helps to hide the presence of the user, move undetected, and strike with precision.

It was the perfect element for someone who wished to remain in the shadows, quite literally.

The space responded to Gu Jin’s confusion,

"Their energy is cloaked, but not fully concealed from me. They are here to kill you, master. I can sense their killing intent."

"Wait a minute, what I meant to ask is how can you sense them?"

Earlier though the space could hear the conversation in her surroundings, sense the presence of someone, or even detect the different kinds of attacks, the space could never sense someone’s element.

"Master this is one of the upgrades." The space replied.

Gu Jin was delighted, before exiting the space.

She could stay in the space if she wanted, but she was worried about her friends. What if they attack her friend if they don’t find her...

The moment she returned to her bed, the door of her room was opened slowly.

It was done so slowly and quietly, that Gu Jin might have thought it was done by air.

For the next 30 seconds, nothing changed and it looked as if the door wasn’t opened by any shadow assassins.

Gu Jin lay on her bed and made sure to adjust her breathing.

Suddenly, Gu Jin felt a faint shift in the air, like a whisper moving through the room.

"Master, they are inside now. One is by the door; the other is circling the room, trying to assess your position."

Gu Jin knew that the shadow element was very powerful, however when she didn’t even feel the slightest moment near her, she still felt surprised.

Suddenly Gu Jin felt a slight distortion in the air and she rolled to her left to dodge the attack.

Shadow Assassin 1 was surprised when he saw Gu Jin dodging the attack.

However, within a few seconds, the surprise vanished, replaced by a serious expression, as he said quietly,

"Plan B."

The very next second Shadow Assassin 2 appeared beside Shadow Assassin 1.

"Shadow Cloak."

The next second both the figures vanished.

An unsettling silence ensued in the air, making Gu Jin’s already alert body even more alert.

"Master, they’re preparing to strike. Their movement patterns suggest a synchronized attack from opposite directions."

Before Gu Jin could react, Shadow Assassin 1 emerged on the left side of Gu Jin, while Shadow Assassin 2 emerged on the right side.

"Shadow Strike."

"Shadow Strike."

Two rays of shadow arcs made their way to Gu Jin.

Gu Jin tried to cast a spell, but the Shadow assassins were too fast.

She could only dodge. Yet, she couldn’t dodge all the attacks.

"Master I will cover for you." The space said.

A blue barrier appeared around Gu Jin, protecting her from the two rays of the shadow arcs.

This gave Gu Jin enough time to cast a spell. She used her strongest element, a mutated plant element.

"Poison Vines!"

A few green vines emerged from the floor of the room. The shadow assassins hurriedly dodged the attack.

The shadow assassins barely evaded Gu Jin’s Poison Vines, their movements swift and fluid as they blended back into the shadows.

Gu Jin knew she was still at a disadvantage.

The shadow assassins were experts in their element, and their speed made them nearly impossible to track.

Not to mention, Gu Jin felt that if they continued to fight like this she wouldn’t be able to injure the shadow assassins in the slightest. They were way too fast!

Hence she took out some artifacts.

First, she took out Magic Boots. Magic Boots could significantly increase her speed. This is one of the few items that Gu Jin has asked Liang Bao to make for her.
