The Mighty Mage
Chapter 231: Jin Mu Acting Strange

Chapter 231: Chapter 231: Jin Mu Acting Strange

While she was stuck in the Ancient Magic World, Gu Jin was constantly worried.

She didn’t know whether Lu Siyao and Liang Bao could open a portal on their own. Especially when Na Roushi told her, the process to open the portal.

He also told her that the group would never open the exit portal, in fact, they would be much more interested in opening an entry portal.

In simpler words, they don’t care whether someone mistakenly entered the Ancient Magic World or deliberately

Gu Jin agreed because instead of getting Nan Roushi out, the group opened two more entry portals resulting in Gu Jin and Jin Mu getting trapped in Ancient Magic World.

So they can forget about getting out of the Ancient Magic World, until and unless someone from the other side tries to open the portal.

Now when she heard Liang Bao’s narration, which Liang Bao ensured to not sound like they didn’t sacrifice a lot, touched Gu Jin.

Liang Bao chuckled,

"Oh my! Don’t say your next words would be, you both are my savior! Hahaha! Jin’er we have long ago passed that formality."

"Yeah. Not to mention, you fell in that damn portal because you were trying to save me. When you didn’t hesitate to save me why would I hesitate to do everything in my power to bring you back?" Lu Siyao added with a smile.

Gu Jin’s heart warmed.

Just then the door of the hospital room was knocked.

When the trio turned to look, they saw Pei Ke and Jin Mu.

Gu Jin and Jin Mu both of them were admitted to the same hospital.

In the past few days, after spending time with Jin Mu, Gu Jin was used to her bubbly and cheerful expression.

However today...Jin Mu’s expression was somewhat off.

Pei Ke whispered something to Jin Mu, making her expression slightly relaxed and she walked toward Gu Jin with a smile,

"Jin’er how are you feeling?"

"Good. What about you?" Gu Jin asked but Jin Mu didn’t reply and continued to stare at Gu Jin.

"Is there something on my face?" Gu Jin asked.

Jin Mu shook her head, bit her lips, and suddenly said with tears in her eyes,

"Jin how can you be so foolish? Do you know how much worried I was when you threw us in the portal?"

The moment Jin Mu finished her words, she hugged Gu Jin tightly.

Gu Jin felt helpless.

Actually, at that time, she wasn’t in her right mind, otherwise, she wouldn’t have ignored her safety and thought about others first.

She patted Jin Mu’s back,

"Calm down."

Jin Mu was hugging her so tightly that Gu Jin’s neck was paining.

When Jin Mu finally pulled away, one of Gu Jin’s hair strands was stuck in Jin Mu’s bracelet. Jin Mu looked at her apologetically.

"It’s alright." Gu Jin nodded and Jin Mu broke Gu Jin’s hair strand.

Pei Ke calmly took out a box from his storage space and said,

"Here. As I promised."

Gu Jin took the box and said,

"I will buy it at market price."

"Huh?" Pei Ke was stunned.

Wasn’t the deal that he would give away the artifact for free?

"I don’t like to take advantage of others." Gu Jin said.

She had mistakenly entered the portal and had no intention of saving Jin Mu in the first place.

Maybe if Jin Mu had not come near her, she would have never taken any initiative to find her on her own.

"But the deal was..." Before Pei Ki could complete his words, Gu Jin interrupted him, "No. I guess the price of the artifact should be around 20 billion, right?"

Liang Bao and Lu Siyao nodded.

Though the artifact may seem simple, however, it had the effect of permanently increasing mana.

The more mana a mage possesses, the longer they can cast spells.

Though there were pills that could temporarily increase mana by some points and there were also pills that could permanently increase mana by some points, they have limitations.

These pills can only be consumed a limited number of times before they become ineffective. On the other hand, an artifact that could permanently increase mana without any side effects was extremely rare and valuable.

If she wasn’t wrong such an artifact shouldn’t have existed. It is too omnipotent.

So such an artifact should have ended up in the hands of wealthy capitalists.

However, due to her luck, Gu Jin was able to obtain it.

"I don’t have 20 billion, but I can pay you 2 billion yuan for the time being." Gu Jin

Gu Jin’s words hung in the air as Pei Ke blinked in surprise.

Pei Ke shook his head firmly.

"No, Miss Gu, you misunderstand. The artifact was never about the money. I didn’t give it to you for profit. We both went through a lot, and this was my promise."

His Mu’er was much more important to him and he never goes back on his words, so he couldn’t take money from Gu Jin.

"Mr. Pei, I like to handle business in business-related matters. If you give away this artifact, I would feel like a beggar." Gu Jin argued.

Jin Mu covered Pei Ke’s mouth and said,

"I will tell you his online ID. Its..."

Pei Ke struggled to say something but he couldn’t. He couldn’t bear to hurt Jin Mu, and without hurting Jin Mu, he couldn’t free himself.

Once the money was transferred, Gu Jin asked Liang Bao to write an IOU and pass it to Jin Mu,

"I will pay the remaining 18 billion later."

"Sure!" Jin Mu said and transferred the money to the hospital in which Pei Ke’s mother was staying.

Now even if Pei Ke wanted he couldn’t transfer back the money.

Jin Mu smiled and passed the phone back to Pei Ke.

She turned to Gu Jin and asked,

"Which university are you planning to join?"

From the conversation they had earlier, Jin Mu came to know that Gu Jin like her just completed high school.

"Beijing Magic University." Gu Jin answered.

"Great! I and Ke’er too planning to enter the Beijing Magic University! Now the fun begins!" Jin Mu was excited.

However, behind those excited eyes, Gu Jin saw something else too.

She couldn’t pinpoint...but she kept on feeling as if Jin Mu’s words had another meaning.

Jin Mu and Pei Ke chatted for some more while before they turned to leave. However, before leaving Jin Mu said,

"Jin’er, next time we meet I will give you a huge surprise."

"Is it bad or good?" Gu Jin asked in a nonchalant tone.

Jin Mu chuckled,

"That you will know later."

Liang Bao frowned,

"Wait a minute...why am I feeling as if we are some mystery plot...and you are like a villain..."

Jin Mu laughed,

"Even if I am a villain, I am sure, I will never be one in your life."

Before the trio could react, Pei Ke and Jin Mu left.

The atmosphere in the room froze for a second. Liang Bao couldn’t help but ask,

"Jin don’t you think something strange is going on..."

"She isn’t hostile." That was all Gu Jin could guess.

Though hostility doesn’t guarantee that Jin Mu would never harm them, it would at least mean she wasn’t actively planning anything malicious — for now.

"I agree with Jin’er. Something does feel... off. But I don’t think Jin Mu has any immediate ill intentions. Jin’er has to stay on guard." Lu Siyao said.

"Anyways, can you complete the discharge process? I am feeling well now. " Gu Jin asked.

Liang Bao disagreed,

"No way, Jin. You’ve been through too much. You need more rest before we think about leaving this place."

Gu Jin frowned slightly but didn’t push the issue.

Lu Siyao went back to the inn, to fetch clothes and other basic necessities, while Liang Bao looked after Gu Jin.

When the fluids in the IV drip were nearly finished, Liang Bao pressed the call button, but even after 5 minutes, no one came.

Worried, Liang Bao walked out and called for a nurse, however, all the nurses and doctors ignored her.

Liang Bao was baffled.

Gu Jin waited for a long time yet Liang Bao didn’t return

The fluids in the IV drip had long been finished, and Gu Jin felt a sharp sting as her blood began to backflow into the tube.

Yet Gu Jin was sitting calmly on the bed.

She decided that if even after 2 minutes, no one came back, she would pull off the IV drip herself.

Just then Liang Bao returned with a nurse.

The Nurse’s forehead was covered with sweat and her face was filled with fear. Just now, when Liang Bao felt no one was going to listen, she picked a low-ranked mage and pulled her over to Gu Jin’s room, threatening the nurse that if she didn’t help, she(Liang Bao) would kill her.

On the other hand, Liang Bao’s eyes widened in panic when she saw the blood flowing backward.
