Chapter 224: Entry And Exit Portal
Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Entry And Exit Portal
In the end, they both decided to prepare both spots (the spot decided by them and the spot decided by me). Now that this spot has been ruined, we can only continue in that spot."
Gu Aihan’s heart skipped a beat. She realized that something was off. If they completed the ritual at a different location, her sabotage would be for nothing. She had to act quickly.
But before she could make any move, Professor Jiang’s voice cut through her thoughts, "Gu Aihan, focus on the beasts. If we lose too much time, your hard work might go to waste."
She gritted her teeth, suppressing her frustration, and turned her attention to the approaching beasts. Nan Bei was already in position, ready to fight.
Gu Aihan hurriedly took out her phone and message to the black-cloaked man,
"Start plan B."
"Aihan! Focus!" Nan Bei shouted when she saw Gu Aihan being distracted.
Meanwhile, at the new ritual site, Lu Siyao, Liang Bao, and Pei Ke worked feverishly to set up the magic circle.
The professor watched them closely, ensuring every detail was perfect.
"Professor thank you so much for helping us." Liang Bao bowed and continued with her work.
They had done all the preparation, and now was just touching up.
"No, it’s alright. We had long known something was strange. We were thinking of coming up with some different plan." Professor Jiang said.
"But professor why are you ready to help us?" Liang Bao asked.
If the earlier professor’s action could be defined as doing justice, now their action can be called as biased.
Not to mention, with their action just now, they indicated that they were going against the Gu Family.
Why would they agree to go against the Gu Family?
Professor Jiang frowned and shifted his gaze to Pei Ke,
"Didn’t you tell them?"
"Tell what?" Lu Siyao asked.
Pei Ke lowered his gaze and said,
"The other professor is Mu’er’s maternal uncle. His name is Cai Wulong."
"What?" Lu Siyao and Liang Bao were stunned.
Professor Cai who was listening to their conversation interrupted them and said,
"It’s better if you all focus on your work. We don’t have much time left."
If his niece was not stuck in the portal he wouldn’t have gone against Gu Aihan.
The trio continued and Lu Siyao asked,
"Then Professor Jiang you are helping us because of Professor Cai?"
"Partially yes." Professor Jiang nodded.
"But professor without Gu Aihan can we open the portal?" Lu Siyao asked worriedly.
Professor Jiang chuckled,
"Looks like you have some misconception. The portal can only be opened if there is a person having the blood of a top influential and ancient wealthy family of capital, these types of portals are used to enter the ancient magic world.
Such types of people are called descendants of Ancient Mage. So only with the Ancient Mage Blood by our side could we enter the portal.
However, to open an exit portal we don’t need any descendants of Ancient Mage."
"If what you are saying is true then...I am relieved." Lu Siyao heaved a sigh of relief.
"The preparations are done. We can now begin." Liang Bao announced.
Professor Jiang nodded, stepping forward to inspect the magic circle one last time. "Everything looks in order. Let’s continue."
The other students step inside the magic circle one by one.
"Let’s begin."
As soon as everyone took positions around the magic circle, the runes began to glow brighter and the ritual had officially begun.
Professor Jiang starts to chant spells while Lu Siyao, Liang Bao, and Pei Ke start to pray for Gu Jin and Jin Mu to successfully exit the ancient magic world.
Meanwhile, hidden in the shadows, the black-cloaked man received Gu Aihan’s message.
He was crouched low in the bushes, his presence masked by the dark enchantments surrounding him.
With a slight smirk, he quickly typed a reply: "Understood. Initiating Plan B."
As the ritual site became bathed in a soft, eerie light, the man’s gaze flickered with cold intent.
A swirling vortex began to form in the center, its colors shifting and merging, creating a mesmerizing yet ominous display. The portal was about to open.
"Stay alert, everyone," Professor Jiang warned, his eyes fixed on the center of the circle. "The portal is extremely unstable, and anything could happen once it’s open."
With a sudden burst of light, the portal snapped open, revealing a dark, swirling void that seemed to stretch into infinity.
The energy within the circle spiked, sending a shockwave through the air that made the ground tremble. Everyone tensed, watching the portal with concentration.
Lu Siyao frowned,
"Why is this portal different from the open that had taken away our Jin’er?"
Professor Cai said calmly,
"The entry and exit portals are different."
From his hidden position, the black-cloaked man’s eyes narrowed.
"Now," he whispered to himself, his hands moving swiftly as he began casting the chaos element spell.
Dark tendrils of energy flowed from his fingertips, intertwining with the natural magic of the portal, slowly corrupting it.
At the ritual site, the energy around the portal began to fluctuate erratically, the once-stable vortex now crackling with chaotic power. The professors exchanged worried glances.
"What’s happening?" Lu Siyao asked, panic creeping into her voice as she noticed the portal becoming increasingly unstable.
"Something’s interfering with the portal," Professor Cai said, his voice tense. "But we can’t stop now. We have to trust that it will hold long enough for them to get through."
Just as the situation seemed on the brink of disaster, a figure emerged from the portal.
Jin Mu stumbled through first, her clothes tattered and bloodstained, but she was alive. Relief washed over the group, but there was no time to celebrate.
"Jin Mu!" Pei Ke called out, rushing forward to help her. "Are you okay?"
Jin Mu nodded weakly, trying to catch her breath. "I’m fine... but Gu Jin..."
Before she could finish, a second figure appeared in the portal—a young man, unfamiliar to the group.
His face was pale, and his expression was one of utter exhaustion. He collapsed to the ground the moment he stepped out.
"Hey, is that Nan Roushi?"
"Looks like him!"
"God! Why is his condition so bad?"
"I don’t know. So he was the unlucky guy who had entered the portal by mistake."
"Seriously but how can he enter the portal first? Doesn’t he belong to a poor family?"
A third figure emerged from the portal.
It was Gu Jin, her condition far worse than Jin Mu’s. Her clothes were torn, and her body was covered in cuts and bruises, blood seeping from several wounds.
She stumbled forward, barely able to stand.
"Gu Jin!" Lu Siyao cried out, rushing to her friend’s side.
But before anyone could reach her, the black-cloaked man’s spell took full effect.
The chaotic energy he had injected into the portal surged, and with a sudden, violent pull, Gu Jin was yanked back toward the portal.
Her eyes widened in shock as she felt the force dragging her back.
"No!" Jin Mu screamed, reaching out for her, but it was too late. The portal’s corrupted energy had taken hold, and Gu Jin was pulled back into the swirling void.
In a moment of sheer desperation, Lu Siyao and Liang Bao made a split-second decision.
They both lunged toward the portal, hoping to follow Gu Jin and bring her back, but the portal was closing rapidly.
Just as they reached the edge, the portal snapped shut with a final burst of energy, sending both women crashing to the ground.
"Gu Jin!" Lu Siyao screamed, tears streaming down her face as she pounded the ground in frustration.
"We lost her," Liang Bao whispered, her voice trembling with disbelief. "We were so close..."
Jin Mu stared at the now-empty space where the portal had been, her heart heavy with guilt and despair.
She had survived, but at what cost? Gu Jin, the person they had all risked everything to save, was gone.
As the reality of the situation sank in, the group was left in stunned silence. The black-cloaked man, still hidden in the bushes, watched with satisfaction.
His plan had worked—Gu Jin was back inside the portal, lost in the chaos of its corrupted energy.
But what no one noticed was the faint shadow that had slipped through the portal just before it closed.
"Professor Jiang! Professor Cai, please ask the students to open the portal again! Please! We are ready to give them high-grade resources!" Lu Siyao shouted.
Liang Bao nodded, desperation was written on her face.
Professor Cai shook his head,
"Unlike the entry portal which can be open three times a day, the exit portal can only be opened one time a day. We will have to wait for the next 24 hours."
"But Jin’er looked so injured! How can she survive!" Lu Siyao shouted. Suddenly she said, "We can still open the entry portal right?"
Professor Cai and Professor Jiang nodded.
"Then please open an entry portal! I will go inside."
