The Mighty Mage
Chapter 205: Massacre

Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Massacre

Gu Jin waited for them to end their bickering before saying,

"I am going to leave for a month due to some work, so I won’t be in contact with you both or any other person. If you have something urgent, use the communication talisman I have given."

Beasts are very sensitive to electronic signals, so during their stay in Feywood forest, her phone would be switched off.

Communication talismans, however, can be used since they don’t emit any signals that the beasts could detect.

The only problem was how costly and rare the talismans were.

Gu Jin only has 10 such talismans and Song Hancheng and Su Qing have 5 each.

"Okay, boss." Song Hancheng nodded.

Gu Jin explained some more matters and left.

Then she went to visit the elders of the alchemy association, before entering her space, taking a small nap and cultivating a bit.

She also prepared some pills for the adventure and left the space.

That night, Gu Jin, Lu Siyao, and Liang Bao gathered at the agreed meeting point just outside the city. Their bags were packed with supplies.

Each of them exchanged items.

What if they get separated for some reason? It is better if each of them has its own set of offensive weapons, defensive weapons, and survival necessities.

Mistwood forest was opposite to Arcane division and beside the Feywood division. Celestia and Arcane were divided by dreamgrove forests.

There was no direct teleportation array between Feywood and Celestia.

To reach Feywood, they first need to reach Arcane.

From Arcane they could teleport to Feywood and after some traveling, they would enter the Mistwood forest.

There was a second option too. They could just use ships to reach Mistwood, but it would waste too much time so they opted for this option.

The team of three hurriedly used the newly built teleportation array to reach the Arcane division.

They reached the Arcane division without much problem but when it came to teleporting from Arcane to Feywood, they realized the line was too long.

"This might take hours," Lu Siyao said, frowning as she looked at the line stretching before them.

Liang Bao sighed. "We don’t any other way."

"Why is a line so big?" Gu Jin asked with narrowed eyes.

Generally, not many people prefer to take the teleportation array since the price is too high...

Liang Bao glanced around, noting the various adventurers and merchants.

"Maybe there’s something special happening in Feywood?"

That was the best-case scenario Liang Bao could think of.

Gu Jin scanned the crowd and noticed a group of official-looking mages managing the teleportation array.

She approached one of them, a tall mage with a stern expression.

"Excuse me," Gu Jin said politely. "Why is the line so long today?"

The mage looked at her, his expression softening slightly.

"There’s a rare magical bloom event in Feywood. It only happens once every fifty years, and many people are traveling to witness it and gather rare resources."

Gu Jin nodded.

"Is there any way we can expedite our travel? We have an urgent mission and can’t afford to wait for hours."

"No." The mage shook his head.

Gu Jin calmly thanked him and returned to where Lu Siyao and Liangh Bao were.

"Let’s go to the washroom."

Liang Bao and Lu Siyao immediately nodded.

After taking their line number, the group walked inside the washroom. Once everyone left, Gu Jin said calmly,

"I am worried that many people already knew the news about Mistwood forest."

"What?" Liang Bao was stunned,

"But didn’t that mage say that the people were interested in watching magic bloom in Feywood?"

Gu Jin shook her head.

"That’s just a convenient excuse. If there’s something valuable in Mistwood, people will find a way to get there, using the magical bloom as a cover. We need to be prepared for more competition and potential dangers."

Lu Siyao crossed her arms, looking thoughtful.

"So what should we do now?"

Gu Jin narrowed her eyes and said,

"We could only raise our guards, as for rest...we can’t stop others from going into mistwood forest."

Liang Bao and Lu Siyao nodded.

Just then the door to the washroom was opened.

Two beautiful women walked in.

One of the women had blue hair and a gentle look on her face. Her body was very slim and with the addition of her delicate face, it was enough to invoke any man’s protective feeling towards her. She had worn a white top with denim jeans.

The other woman had fiery red hair and an air of confidence. She wore a fitted black leather jacket and matching pants, exuding an aura of strength and mystery.

Her sharp eyes scanned the room as if she was constantly evaluating her surroundings.

Lu Siyao and Liang Bao exchanged wary glances, sensing that these newcomers were not ordinary travelers.

Gu Jin reverted her gaze back and said to Liang Bao,

"Anyways this year’s magic bloom is too famous, so try to stick together."

Liang Bao and Lu Siyao understood Gu Jin’s words and nodded.

Gu Jin calmly left the washroom while Liang Bao and Lu Siyao followed behind.

Once the trio left, the blue hair woman’s eyes flashed while the red-haired woman asked with doubt,

"Are you sure she is the golden hen?"

"I am sure." The blue-haired woman said.

"Okay, we will follow them closely."

Soon Gu Jin and her two friends teleported to Feywood. By the time they reached Feywood, it was already morning.

After taking a nap and having breakfast, the group set out and soon reached the entrance of the mistwood forest.

True to its name, the mistwood forest was covered was shrouded in a dense, ethereal mist that gave the entire area an otherworldly feel.

The thick fog obscured their vision, making it difficult to see more than a few feet ahead.

If one looked closely they would see that the mist towards the left was a bit thin but toward the right it was thick.

Unsurprisingly few more adventurers were standing just outside the mistwood forest.

"They..." Liang Bao frowned.

Gu Jin motioned her to keep quiet and listened to the conversations.

Then she closed her eyes and her expressions slowly turned ugly.

Finally, she said,

"Let’s retreat for now."

"Huh? Jin’er what are you saying?" Liang Bao was confused.

"Jin’er if we don’t rush now, we will miss the golden opportunity!"

Lu Siyao argued, frustration evident in her voice.

Gu Jin shook her head firmly.

"No, the forest is too crowded. The risk is too high right now. We need to be patient and find a better time to enter."

"Wait! What risk?" Lu Siyao asked and her tone lowered subconsciously.

Gu Jin blinked and made some hand gestures.

Lu Siyao and Liang Bao instantly understood Gu Jin’s signal and agreed.

Liang Bao sighed but nodded.

"Alright, let’s find a place to observe from a distance. We can wait for the crowd to thin out."

The group retreated to a vantage point, keeping a close eye on the activity around the Mistwood Forest.

They watched as various groups of adventurers entered the forest, their silhouettes disappearing into the mist.

Hours passed, and the number of adventurers gradually decreased.

As the sun began to set, the forest seemed to reclaim its eerie silence, the mist thickening as darkness fell.

"So when will we enter?" Liang Bao asked when she saw the last team moving towards the mist.

"Not to today." Gu Jin said calmly.

"The golden hen is not planning to enter what should we do?" The red-haired woman who along with the blue-haired woman was hiding in the shadow commented.

"Then let’s wait. We will strictly follow that red-eyed girl named Gu Jin." The blue-haired woman said with a glint in her eyes.

"But..." The red-haired woman was about to say something when the blue-haired woman glared at her.

Gu Jin and her team returned to the accommodation place and rest.

For the next 2 days, they didn’t make any move.

Even though Liang Bao and Lu Siyao were anxious they didn’t dare to rush Gu Jin.

On the third day of their wait, Gu Jin, Lu Siyao, and Liang Bao were having breakfast at their accommodation when they heard a commotion outside.

Curious, they stepped out to see what was happening.

A group of adventurers who had recently entered the Mistwood Forest was returning, but something was terribly wrong.

They were in a panic, their faces pale and eyes wide with fear. Some were injured, and others were carrying the lifeless bodies of their fallen comrades.

Liang Bao’s heart sank as she observed the scene. She approached one of the returning adventurers, a man with a deep gash on his arm.

"What happened in the forest?" she asked urgently.

The man looked at her with haunted eyes.

"It was a massacre. We were attacked by beasts...they came out of nowhere, too many to count. Everyone who entered... they’re all dead. We barely escaped with our lives."
