Gu Jin took a step forward, her voice cold and controlled,

"This is how you treat thieves? Beating them and detaining them for 2 days straight? As far as I know, usually, thieves are only detained for 2 to 14 days and they aren’t beaten up during the entire time, they stay at the jail until and unless they have committed some serious crime."

In her heart, Gu Jin was seething.

If she had the power she would have killed the police officer and the person who had made members of Shadow Fangs so miserable.

Police Officer Zhang stammered,

"I-I was just following orders. I had no choice."

Justin Lee intervened, his tone sharp, "Following orders is not an excuse for brutality. We will be filing a formal complaint against you and everyone involved in this misconduct."

Tang Wei nodded, his eyes hard,

"And I will make sure this reaches the public. People need to know what happens behind these walls."

Gu Jin turned to her team, her anger giving way to concern.

"Let’s get you all back to the hospital for proper care. This isn’t over."

Once at the hospital, the team was admitted and treated for their injuries.

Gu Jin stayed by their side, making sure they were comfortable and receiving the best care possible.

Justin Lee and Tang Wei worked tirelessly, gathering evidence and preparing their case against the corrupt officials.

The media storm that Tang Wei had predicted came swiftly.

News outlets picked up the story, and soon, the public was outraged by the treatment of the Shadow Fangs.

The pressure on the authorities mounted, leading to a full-scale investigation.

"What should we do?" Police Officer Zhang asked with sweat on his forehead.

In front of him, Captain Si was sitting with a dark face.

After remaining silent for 4 whole minutes, Captain Si said,

"They didn’t see my face when I was beating them, so it shouldn’t be a problem if I ask one of the prisoners to act like they were the one who had beaten up Zhang Wei and his team.

"Then what about the other problem?" Police Officer Zhang asked.

Captain Si held his forehead.

Recently there have been many cases of missing people. Even after investigating it for a long time, no results were found.

Not only the Undercity Division, but the rest of the divisions were too getting the pressure from the higher authority because of this matter.

The head of the police force and many police officers were getting fired one after the other.

This made most of the Captains and police officers wary and constant state of stress.

Hence Captains of each police force decided to conduct a meeting and find a solution.

When they realized that they couldn’t find the real culprit, they decided to find a fake one and for the time being, held him accountable.

They promised to compensate the fake culprit later.

The thing they needed the most now was time and the presence of a fake culprit could give them some time.

Hence they went through the clues and started to find a person who matched those criteria.

Some of the people who were successful in running away claimed that a group of people were behind the missing case.

They also claimed that the other party was a mercenary group, with three men and two women.

All the Captains started to look for such a group that could be framed temporarily to ease the pressure.

The plan was desperate and morally questionable, but they were running out of options.

At that time, Captain Si looked at Officer Zhang with a stern expression.

"Find a group that matches the description. Make sure they are isolated and have no strong connections that can retaliate quickly. We need to do this quietly."

Officer Zhang nodded, his face pale but determined.

"Understood, Captain."

"Mr. Tang I have already said, I won’t be returning to the Tang Clan. Please give up on me and no need to help me and my team. We can manage on our own."

Tang Wei’s face fell and he asked,

"Young master do you really..."

"Yes." Tang Guan said firmly and left.

"Young Master..." Tang Wei was about to follow Tang Guan when Lawyer Justin stopped him and patted his shoulder,

"No need, he was very angry after the last stunt pulled by his parents, the last time."

Tang Wei showed an irritated expression and said,

"Why can’t they see that Young Master has much more potential than his older brother?"

"Does power or potential matter?" Lawyer Justin asked Tang Wei.

Tang Wei instantly turned silent.

Lawyer Justin shook his head and left.

Tang Wei followed behind him after hesitating for a long while.

Tang Guan’s show was hidden behind one of the pillars and couldn’t help but clench his hand.

After the team was healed they returned to the Celestia Division after much hassle.

One of the compensations was to use the teleportation portal. Gu Jin was speechless when she saw the teleportation portal and looked at Zhang Wei who explained to her,

"These things are very expensive and not every place has the teleportation portal. Celestia doesn’t have it.

We will be first teleported to Feywood, then to Arcane from there, we will take transportation vehicle, since the jeep will be transported to the Celestia later."

"How expensive?" Gu Jin asked curiously.

"1 million." Zhang Wei stated the price, and Gu Jin felt that it was cheap.

Six people teleported from Celestia directly to the Undercity division was rather reasonable.

"1 million per person. From Arcane to Feywood, one has to pay 2 million and for Feywoord to Undercity, one has to pay 1 million."

Gu Jin smiled,

"You made the right decision by using a jeep."

No kidding! 2 million+ 1 million just to go from Celestia to Undercity, and that was too for a single person.

Their team had 6 members, so doesn’t that round up to 18 million?

Gu Jin silently swore to learn about portals, so that she could start her own business and earn this huge amount of money!

It will be also convenient for her to travel back and forth once she has a teleportation portal of her own.

When the team reached Arcane it was already the afternoon of the next day.

They hailed a cab and on the way, the team started to chat.

"Does anyone know why that famous Lawyer Justin and Mr. Tang of Peach Corporation were helping us?" Yi Ran asked curiously.

Except for Xu Mingtao and Tang Guan, everyone shook their head.

"Guan you know that Lawyer Justin?" Liu Sunhao asked when he noticed Tang Guan’s stiffened face.

Tang Guan was silent for a moment before replying,

"Yes. My father had done him a favor, so when he knew that I was in trouble he reached out to help."

Liu Sunhao’s eyes shone with brilliant light and said,

"Really? Then why didn’t you introduce him to us? Once we get to know him, no one will look down on us!"

Xu Mingtao rolled her eyes and said,

"His dad had done a favor on Lawyer Justin and hence Justin lee was ready to help. What favor does Justin Lee owe to even consider having a friendship with you?"

Liu Sunhao snorted and said,

"What? I am a favor myself. If he becomes my friend, I can promise to protect him later when I become powerful!"

Xu Mingtao laughed loudly, followed by Yi Ran and Zhnag Wei laughed too.

Tang Guan and Gu Jin too smiled.

They were truly amused by Liu Sunhao’s words.

"According to this, every powerful person should know you then." Xu Mingtao said in between her laughter.

Tang Guan rolled his eyes,

"I am not interested in getting to know everyone."

When the team reached their base, Zhang Wei started to distribute rewards.

"Each person will get 2 million yuan and a defensive artifact."
