The Mighty Mage
Chapter 136: Feng Tian

Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Feng Tian

"Joke? Who said I am joking?" Feng Tian was truly surprised.

He as a good-natured person helped out their little teammate and they are accusing him of passing a joke. Was his image so deteriorated that now even though he is telling the truth, the other party is taking it as a joke?

Zhang Wei’s face darkened a bit but considering Feng Tian’s rank and powers, Zhang Wei could only grit his teeth and say,

"Our teammate is a fine young man, but you are calling him as ’her’, how can it not be considered as a joke?

Also, he is a fine young man who has risked his life to save his teammate’s life, how could I let his effort go in vain by not even trying to look for him one last time?"

Feng Tian frowned.

"That person was a young man? What nonsense! I could clearly see that she..."

Before Feng Tian could finish his sentence, Zhang Wei clasped his hands together and said,

"Please don’t insult such a kind person."

Seeing Zhang Wei’s pale face, Feng Tian gave up, and decided not to expose that young man, instead he said,

"Alright, I won’t say anything else, anyways the reason why I asked you to not enter the crack was because I had caused a spatial rift before your kind comrade could fall inside.

So don’t worry, he is most likely to be in another dimension or place but still alive."

Zhang Wei and the rest of the team stared at Feng Tian in stunned silence.

The thought that Su Jin might still be alive reignited a flicker of hope in their hearts.

"But how can we find him?" Liu Sunhao asked, his voice trembling with a mixture of hope and fear.

Feng Tian adjusted his glasses and said,

"I can track the energy signature of the rift. It will take time, but it’s possible to locate and open a portal to where he might be.

However, you must be prepared. These things are unpredictable."

After all, there might be chances that Gu Jin may be stuck in a time or loop space, or get teleported to some other dimension.

Zhang Wei nodded firmly.

"Do whatever it takes. We’ll be ready."

.....

Gu Jin opened her eyes and felt her body getting twisted. It was as if her body would most likely be ripped apart soon if she didn’t protect it.

Gu Jin tried to enter her space but she wasn’t able to.

At last, she could look open her eyes forcefully.

The view around her was a swirling chaos of colors and shapes, a maelstrom of energy that seemed to stretch and compress her body simultaneously.

The sensation was excruciating, and she struggled to maintain her consciousness.

For an hour or so, Gu Jin remained in that place.

To say she wasn’t anxious would be a lie.

Gu Jin took a deep breath to calm herself down.

No! She can’t panic! She needs to find a way to exit this strange space.

Gu Jin tried to move her body parts and found that she was able to move her body. However, the bad news was there was no gravity in the spatial rift.

Gu Jin was literally floating in the air and if she wanted to move, she had to swim to that place.

Time passed and Gu Jin was getting worried.

She felt as if a day had passed.

Various worries appeared in her mind.

She needs to treat Jasmine and also ensure that she doesn’t get stuck there forever.

As she struggled to think of a solution, she felt a strange, pulsating energy in the spatial rift. It was at least 200 meters away from her.

The energy was strong and Gu Jin felt a strange kind of attachment to the place.

However, Gu Jin didn’t rush to the place.

Just as she was wondering whether she should ’swim’ in that direction or not, the ring on her finger suddenly shone and she heard the space’s voice,

"Master move to that place."

"No." Gu Jin rejected it right away.

She had never seen many movies or TV dramas, but she had read enough novels to know that the obvious path is often a trap.

She needed more information before she could risk moving toward that unknown energy source.

However, the space’s voice was insistent.

"Master, trust me. That energy is the key to stabilizing the rift. It will help you regain control over your magic and possibly lead you to a way out."

Gu Jin hesitated. The voice of the space had never been wrong before, and in this chaotic dimension, any lead was better than none.

Gritting her teeth, she decided to take the chance.

She began to move, using the swimming motions to propel herself through the weightless void towards the pulsating energy.

Gu Jin thought that she would easily reach the area emitting the familiar pulse, however, she soon realized that something was wrong.

With each second that passed Gu Jin felt pressured.

And why did that 200 meters seem as far as 200km?

Gu Jin kept on swimming.

For the next 3 days(at least that was what Gu Jin thought), Gu Jin continuously swam.

Yet the distance seems very far away.

Surprisingly other than feeling tired, Gu Jin didn’t feel hungry.

Gu Jin paused and calculated the distance she had traveled.

Despite her continuous efforts, the distance to the pulsating energy seemed to remain constant, as if it was a mirage taunting her with its unreachability.

"What’s going on?" Gu Jin muttered to herself.

She was no stranger to difficult situations, but this was pushing her endurance and patience to the limit.

She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to focus her thoughts.

She needed a new strategy. Perhaps brute force wasn’t the answer in this strange, otherworldly rift.

Maybe there was a trick to navigating this space that she hadn’t figured out yet.

"Master the reason why the distance seems so large is because of the path you are taking is wrong." The space reminded her.

"What?" Gu Jin didn’t understand what the space meant.

"Master, I can’t reveal to you the heaven’s secret. Please discover it yourself." The space said and turned silent.

Gu Jin almost wanted to curse.

How the f*ck she will know the heaven’s so-called secret?

It has only been 1 year since she has come into this unknown magic world.

However, the space reminder did make Gu Jin understand that she has to think about everything from a logical point of view and can’t just rely on brute force.

.........

"Super Mage Feng did you discover our teammate’s whereabouts?" Zhang Wei asked cautiously.

5 hours had already passed since Gu Jin had gone missing.

Feng Tian lazily closed his eyes and after some time he furrowed his brows and opened his eyes.

"Sh...He is moving too much, I can’t trace him." Feng Tian said.

Zhang Wei and the rest of the members were disappointed.

The earthquake was a disaster for Zhang Wei’s teams but for Undercity Division, it was a blessing in disguise.

After all, all the beasts that were originally attacking section A, suddenly either ran away or stopped attacking.

This made everyone in the Undercity Division heave a sigh of relief.

All the mercenaries that were hired were asked to stay in case of situation reversal, and if everything went well, then they could get their money by tomorrow and leave.

If it was earlier the members of Shadow Fangs would have cheered and even even would have celebrated.

But now none of them were in the mood to celebrate.

"Don’t worry, we will be able to locate him before tomorrow evening." Feng Tian said and waved his hand.

In his heart, he was a bit regretful.

If only he hadn’t helped that girl out of kindness, then he wouldn’t have to deal with such a troublesome aftermath.

The Shadow Fang members could only leave for the time being.

"Leader, what should we do? We can’t sit like this! Not when we know that Su Jin is alive but might be suffering or be in great danger!" Xu Mingtao said anxiously.

Zhang Wei frowned as he looked at the worried faces of his team.

They were right; doing nothing felt wrong.

But without a clear plan, rushing into action could make things worse.

"We need to be smart about this," Zhang Wei said finally.

"Let’s gather more information about spatial rifts. Maybe there’s something we can do to assist Feng Tian’s efforts from our end."

Xu Mingtao nodded, though she still looked tense.

"I understand, but we can’t afford to waste any time. Every minute could be critical."

"Agreed," Zhang Wei said.

"We’ll split up. Xu Mingtao, you, and Liu Sunhao head to the research division and see if they have any insights or tools that could help us stabilize or locate the rift. The rest of us will stay here and monitor any changes."
