Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Prank?

Gu Jin on the other hand put away the box.

After an hour or so, Zhang Wei said,

"Guys be alert, we are now exiting the safe zone and soon we might encounter so beast."

As the team journeyed through the dense foliage of the Moonshadow forest, an eerie silence seemed to envelop their surroundings.

The air felt heavy, and a sense of foreboding lingered in their hearts.

Gu Jin couldn’t shake off the feeling of being watched.

It was as if unseen eyes were tracking their every move, sending shivers down her spine.

Tang Guan, ever vigilant, tightened his grip on his weapon, his senses on high alert.

He glanced around warily, searching for any signs of danger lurking in the shadows.

Suddenly, a faint rustling sound broke the silence, causing the team to halt the car.

"You heard it, right?" Liu Sunhao asked solemnly to Tang Guan, who nodded his head.

Their gazes darted in all directions, but there was nothing visible amidst the thick underbrush.

Unease settled over them like a suffocating blanket as they continued forward, each kilometer weighed down by the heavy atmosphere.

It wasn’t long before strange occurrences began to unfold around them.

Trees seemed to twist and contort, their branches forming grotesque shapes that loomed menacingly overhead.

Shadows danced in the corners of their vision, flickering and shifting in an unsettling manner.

The atmosphere inside the car grew increasingly tense as the team navigated through the eerie surroundings of the Moonshadow forest.

Each member remained on high alert, their senses strained for any sign of danger.

Suddenly, a low growl echoed through the dense foliage, sending a chill down Zhang Wei’s spine.

He exchanged a worried glance with Tang Guan, who gripped his weapon tighter, prepared for whatever threat might emerge.

As the car pressed forward, the rustling sounds grew louder, accompanied by the occasional snapping of twigs underfoot.

It was as if the forest itself was alive, watching their every move with malicious intent.

Without warning, a shadowy figure darted across their path, disappearing into the darkness before they could get a clear look at it.

Gu Jin’s heart raced with adrenaline as she braced herself for the unknown danger lurking in the shadows.

Zhang Wei, at the wheel, remained focused, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger.

He muttered a curse under his breath, realizing they had entered a perilous territory far beyond the safety of the city walls.

"Uh...ohhhh." Liu Sunhao said.

"What happened?" Xu Mingtao asked with some fear.

"I feel as if some dangerous aura of a beast nearing us." Liu Sunhao said with uncertainty.

"Sunhao if this is your one of the pranks, I won’t entertain it." Zhang Wei said in an angry tone.

"Boss I don’t lie about such matters." Liu Sunhao tried to sound like a genuine person, but all he got in return was a disdainful gaze from Zhang Wei.

Suddenly, a shadowy figure darted across their path, causing everyone to startle in alarm.

"Did you see that?" Xu Mingtao exclaimed, her voice tinged with fear.

Before anyone could respond, a deafening roar reverberated through the forest, sending chills down their spines.

Gu Jin gritted her teeth and said,

"A Catalope."

"You saw it clearly?" Xu Mingtao asked with surprise.

"We need to..." Gu Jin began, her voice trailing off as three swift ’whoosh’ sounds cut through the air, followed by a continuous onslaught of noise.

Zhang Wei’s expression darkened as he grasped the severity of the situation.

"We’re surrounded," he stated grimly, his eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement.

Liu Sunhao didn’t believe it and turned to look around only to be greeted by the red eyes of Catalopes.

His soul almost left his body.

And why was he fearful?

Well, they could at least reason with mutated red-eyed deers, but these Catalopes are different. They only attack and don’t get frightened easily.

Even though they can be defeated easily, it still costs them to lose either their arms or their eyes.

Tang Guan’s grip tightened on his weapon, his muscles tense with anticipation.

"What do we do now?" he asked, his voice laced with urgency.

"We fight," Zhang Wei replied, his tone resolute. "Prepare yourselves."

The team braced themselves for the impending battle, their hearts pounding in their chests as they awaited the onslaught of the Catalopes.

Suddenly, the shadows around them began to shift and writhe, as the massive forms of the beasts emerged from the darkness, their red eyes glowing with malevolent intent.

Gu Jin’s breath caught in her throat as she counted at least a dozen Catalopes encircling their car, their razor-sharp claws poised to strike.

"We’re outnumbered," Liu Sunhao exclaimed, his voice tinged with panic.

"We can’t let fear cloud our judgment," Zhang Wei replied, his voice steady despite the rising tension. "

Stay focused and follow my lead."

With a nod of determination, the team prepared to defend themselves against the ferocious beasts closing in on them.

The Catalopes lunged forward with a deafening roar, their claws slashing through the air as they descended upon the car with deadly precision.

Zhang Wei, the leader of the group, wasted no time in issuing commands.

"Xu Mingtao, create a barrier of water around the car. Liu Sunhao, use your lightning magic to electrocute any Catalopes that come too close.

Tang Guan, cover our flanks with your fire and ice magic. Yi Ran focus on healing any injuries. Gu Jin, provide support with your plant element."

The team moved swiftly, each member taking up their assigned roles with practiced precision.

Xu Mingtao summoned a swirling vortex of water, creating a protective barrier around the car to shield them from the Catalopes’ attacks.

Liu Sunhao crackled with energy as he unleashed bolts of lightning, sending arcs of electricity sizzling through the air and striking down the advancing Catalopes. He also focused on driving the car.

Tang Guan conjured flames and ice shards, forming a deadly combination of fire and frost to keep the Catalopes at bay.
