"Fire blast!" Tang Guan cast the spell. He threw a ball of fire toward the red-eyed deer who was running in Gu Jin’s direction.

Gu Jin broke from the daze and realized that she had fallen into an illusion.

Looking at the red-eyed deer that was gazing at her with hostility, Gu Jin realized how stupid she was.

If Tang Guan had not saved her, she would have died for sure!

Gu Jin nodded at Tang Guan who warned her,

"Be careful. If you stare into their eyes too much you would fall under their spell."

After advising Gu Jin, Tang Guan turned and focused on fighting other red-eyed deer.

Gu Jin took a deep breath and cast her primary spell,

"Plant Vines!"

She was closer to Tang Guan, so she used her plant vines to hold the red-eyed deer that was going to attack Tang Guan from the back.

"Plant Spikes!" Gu Jin cast.

The red-eyed deer which was held by Gu Jin’s plant vines died when a sharp plant spike pierced its heart. Gu Jin’s quick thinking and precise spellcasting saved Tang Guan from being attacked from behind.

Zhang Wei who was observing the situation, heaved a sigh of relief and was surprised too.

Gu Jin falling under one of the illusions was an expected thing considering this was her first time facing a smart and agile beast like red eyed deer.

Hence he had asked Tang Guan to look after Gu Jin while fighting.

"Leader are you not going scold little Jin?" Liu Sunhao asked with a pout as he attacked one of the red-eyed deer.

Zhang Wei gritted his teeth.

"Of course he won’t! He only loves to pick on us since we are more beautiful and handsome." Xu Mingtao snorted.

The other members of the group exchanged worried glances, realizing the gravity of the situation.

"If they keep multiplying like this, we won’t be able to hold them off for much longer," Tang Guan remarked, his voice tinged with urgency.

Zhang Wei nodded grimly, his mind racing as he tried to come up with a plan to stem the tide of incoming creatures.

"We need to find out what’s attracting them and put a stop to it," Zhang Wei declared, his voice firm with determination.

But just as he spoke, a low rumbling sound echoed through the forest, causing the ground beneath their feet to tremble.

"What was that?" Gu Jin asked, her eyes wide with alarm.

The area suddenly started to turn red.

"Oh No!" Yi Ran’s eyes widened in horror.

Tang Guan, Xu Mingtao, Liu Sunhao, and Zhang Wei’s expressions stiffened and their body turned tense.

Only Gu Jin who didn’t have much practical experience asked,

"What is happening?"

Yi Ran’s breathing fastened and she muttered,

"A psychic array is going to be activated!"

"What?" Gu Jin felt as if Yi Ran was saying a bunch of nonsensical things.

Tang Guan explained to Gu Jin,

"A psychic array is a powerful magical construct that can manipulate the energies of the mind to achieve various effects.

In this case, it seems like the psychic array is being activated to draw in and control the mutated red-eyed deer.

This also explains why the sweet smell was getting circulated. Mutated Red-Eyed Deer usually emit that sweet fragrance when they feel that danger is near.

If the mutated red-eyed deer enter this psychic array, they would lose their rationality and attack the people in their vicinity.

Not only that...once they enter the psychic array they have a adrenaline rush, which could boost their power 3 times.

This boost is harmful to them and could even result in their death. But yet due to the influence of the psychic array, they would ignore their own pain and attack humans without any concern for their bodies.

That could be very harmful. Usually, we can kill 40 mutated red-eyed deer, and the rest 40 would run away to save their life, saving us from the overwhelming number but..."

"But when they are under adrenaline rush they won’t run away even if they see their peers dying." Gu Jin completed.

"Exactly."

Gu Jin nodded, her mind racing as she tried to process the information.

She had many questions in her mind.

Why would someone create this psychic array? What was that person’s intention?

Many possibilities appeared in Gu Jin’s mind however since the situation was critical, Gu Jin kept those thoughts aside.

"If the psychic array is activated, it could spell disaster for everyone in the vicinity," Zhang Wei added, his voice tense with urgency.

"We need to find a way to stop it before it’s too late," Liu Sunhao chimed in, his expression grim.

Yi Ran’s trembling voice stopped their conversation in between,

"Guys....I...know you want to save others...but-but first we should focus on us!"

When Gu Jin, Zhang Wei, Xu Mingtao, Liu Sunhao, and Tang Guan looked in Yi Ran’s direction, they saw her pointing her finger in the ground direction with fear.

The ground was glowing with red light...meaning they were in danger too!

"Sh*t!" Liu Sunhao shouted.

"We need to run away." Zhang Wei said in a hurried tone.

"But how? We are surrounded by these bitchy animals!" Tang Guan couldn’t control himself from cursing.

Gu Jin on the other hand analysed the situation.

They were surrounded and there were only two ways to get out. Either from the ground or from the sky.

An idea appeared in her mind and she said,

"I have an idea." Gu Jin said.

"Say!" Zhang Wei said while fighting.

"Why don’t we climb on trees and I make a path from tree to tree till we reach out of the circle?"

"But how would we climb the tree?" Yi Ran looked at a tall tree that was difficult to reach even with a whirlwind and gritted her teeth.

They don’t know how they ended up in the forest, even though they had met those mutated red-eyed deer at the entrance of the forest!

Gu Jin cast her plant element spell,

"Plant Vines!"

A Vine rose from the ground and wrapped around Yi Ran’s waist. The vine slowly made its way toward the tree.

"No! Jin even if you use plant vines we can’t reach that height!" Yi Ran shouted.

Normal plant vines and whirlwinds had a limit. They can only reach a certain height.

Primary Rank spells of plant element, Plant Vines could only reach 300 cm(somewhere around 9 feet), while Whirlwind could only reach 280 to 310 cm.

Even though Gu Jin was at intermediate rank...that couldn’t help much!
