Gu Jin exited the lodge and saw Zhang Wei and Liu Sunhao discussing something.

They were staring at the forest and whispering something.

When Gu Jin went near them, she coughed.

The lean man was instantly furious,

"Then I would wait for your body part."

"Pfft." Liu Sunhao laughed, followed by Yi Ran and then Tang Guan. Yi Ran giggled and Zhang Wei was amused.

This new little brother of theirs has a dark sense of humor.

"Why did he keep on cursing us to die?"

Gu Jin shifted her gaze to the forest,

"He thinks that we will bring misfortune to them and wants to save his ass, hence he wants us dead, so the misfortune won’t be shifted to him."

Xu Mingtao smiled,

Zhang Wei coughed to stop Xu Mingtao,

"Okay! Okay! Let’s focus on the task at hand. If we are lucky we could get useful material!"

Everyone nodded and started to venture into the forest.

But even before they could take a step inside the forest, a few red eyes started popping out in the dark.

"Stay alert! They are here!" Zhang Wei shouted and started to connect his star path.

The group immediately went into combat mode, their senses heightened as they prepared to face the mutated Red-eyed Deer.

Gu Jin, her instincts sharp as ever, scanned their surroundings for any signs of danger.

She could feel the tension in the air as the group braced themselves for the impending confrontation.

The red eyes in the darkness seemed to multiply, their eerie glow casting an ominous shadow over the forest.

Zhang Wei was the first to cast the spell and chanted,

"Rock projectiles."

Rock projectile was an earth element intermediate rank attack that could hurl rocks or boulders at their enemies with great force and accuracy, causing blunt force trauma upon impact.

As Zhang Wei’s spell took effect, large rocks soared through the air, crashing into the advancing mutated Red-eyed Deer with powerful force.

The impact staggered the beasts, but they quickly regained their footing and continued their relentless charge.

Liu Sunhao signalled Xu Mingtao who nodded.

"Water whip."

Water whip was forming water into a whip-like shape to strike opponents at close range.

"Lightning bolt."

The lightning bolt was a primary rank attack which is a straightforward attack where the mage conjures a bolt of lightning and directs it towards their target.

The lightning bolt was directed into the water whip, which increased the force and speed of the attack.

The electrified water whip crackled with energy as it lashed out at the mutated Red-eyed Deer, striking them with a powerful surge of electricity.

Bzzz.

The mutated red-eyed deer who was about to reach the team, fell due to impact and twitched a little before completely stopping.

"Good Work Mingtao!" Liu Sunhao praised.

Xu Mingtao smiled.

Gu Jin was surprised. They were indeed smart.

The red-eyed deer were larger and more menacing than their unmutated counterparts. Their fur was a dark, mottled red, and their eyes glowed with an unnatural light.

As they approached, Gu Jin could see the muscles ripple beneath their thick hides, evidence of their enhanced strength and agility.

Suddenly Gu Jin looked into one of the deer’s eyes and was mesmerized.

Even though she has red eyes, Gu Jin doesn’t feel that her red eyes are as beautiful as hers.

The red-eyed deer’s hostility suddenly decreased. It was still running in Gu Jin’s direction but Gu Jin felt it wouldn’t harm her.
