Before Long Yifan could react the head butler disagreed,

"No! Young Miss will not leave with you!"

How could they leave their Young Miss in Gu Jin’s hand considering the dangers Young Miss is facing?

Gu Jin shifted her gaze to the head butler and chuckled coldly,

"Either this or the treatment stops. You decide."

She can’t possibly cancel her plan to treat Long Yifan’s sister, right?

She took his responsibility so she will do her best to cure her, but if they stop her then she can’t do much.

She was Long Yifan’s sister’s doctor, not a nanny.

The head butler frowned,

"You can’t!"

"You are not the one who calls the shot." Gu Jin coldly said.

The head butler glared at her and then looked at his master with a pleading gaze as if he were telling his master to do justice for him.

Long Yifan came out of his daze and said,

"I can’t agree..."

The head butler almost jumped with happiness. However his happiness didn’t last long when he heard Log Yifan say,

"...without you telling me how you are going to take her with you."

The head butler almost fell.

What?

Is his Young Master crazy?

How can he let an unknown girl take away his Young Miss?

Was it because of love?

The head butler warned Long Yifan,

"Young Master you can’t put Young Miss’s life in danger just because you have some feelings for this girl."

He had used telepathy to convey this message.

The head butler was an Advance Rank Mage with Psychic and Water as his elements.

Long Yifan leaned on his table and said loudly,

"As far as I know Miss Gu, she would never propose something that she isn’t sure of. Am I right?"

Gu Jin leaned on her chair and smirked,

"I must praise Mr. Long for his intelligence."

In her heart though she was surprised by the fact that Long Yifan could grasp her nature so quickly.

"No need! Just tell me the method." Long Yifan waved his hand.

"I have a special...spell, using which even if I carry your sister..."

"Jasmine." Long Yifan said softly.

"Huh?" Gu Jin was confused by the sudden interference.

"Her name is Jasmine." Long Yifan continued.

"Oh. So I have a special spell using which I can make your sister invisible." Gu Jin said.

Invisible spells weren’t unheard of in the magic world.

But...

Long Yifan asked with a frown,

"That is all?"

Gu Jin smirked,

"Of course, there is something more..."

The head butler who was dissatisfied and about to interrupt her, shut his mouth.

Long Yifan motioned her to tell it but Gu Jin remained silent.

When even after 2 minutes, Gu Jin didn’t say anything, Long Yifan asked,

"And what is that?"

Gu Jin dramatically pulled one finger out and shook it,

"No! I won’t tell you. It’s my secret."

Long Yifan stared at Gu Jin for a minute, before finally saying.

"Alright. You can take her with you."

Gu Jin was a bit taken aback but she feigned calmness in front of Long Yifan.

Long Yifan walked across the table and stopped a few meters away from Gu Jin. He bent down and leaned near her.

Gu Jin didn’t back down, this entire time her eyes kept on staring into Long Yifan’s eyes.

Long Yifan placed his hands on the arm of the chair and said in a low voice,

"Listen, Miss Gu. I don’t care what method you are using, if by chance my sister is hurt even a bit, or you dare to betray me, I will make your life hell when I catch you."

Gu Jin narrowed her eyes,

"Oh? How interesting. Don’t worry, I never betray people."

A glint flashed past Gu Jin’s eyes but it was so fast that Long Yifan couldn’t see it.

Gu Jin suddenly smirked and asked,

"You are leaning so close to me, aren’t you afraid that if your fiance by chance comes here, she will misunderstand you."

’I don’t care.’ That was what Long Yifan wanted to say but he instead said,

"You are right."

And with reluctance in his heart, he moved away.

Before leaving the dining room, Long Yifan threw a compass to Gu Jin and said,

"This a special artifact. Unlike normal compasses that show the wrong direction due to magnetic fields, it will still be able to show the right direction.

It can also detect the most dangerous path. So before making any decision use it."

"Thank you," Gu Jin said, catching the compass deftly.

She examined it briefly before tucking it away into her pocket. "I appreciate it."

She didn’t act pretentiously. It was her first time going to a dangerous place, so it was better to prepare some of the trump cards.

Once she returns from the trip, she will return the compass to him.

"I have given it for my sister’s safety." Long Yifan said coldly.

Gu Jin nodded. She didn’t want to accept but in her heart, she was feeling a bit disappointed.

Long Yifan was a good brother. He was a good fiance too who wasn’t swayed by others.

If only...she had met him earlier...

Gu Jin closed her eyes.

The slight twist in her heart was making it a little unbearable for her to breathe.

She closed her eyes and finally felt a bit better.

It’s alright. In life, we can’t always have everything that we want, right?

Long Yifan on the other hand had completely different thought.

He went to his study and sat on one of the chairs.

Gu Jin returned to her room, made some pills, and went to the night market to prepare some emergency supplies.

Along the way, she also bought some(many!) vegetable seeds.

The space’s asked in its baby voice,

"Master, are you planning to open a farm?"

Gu Jin rolled her eyes,

"I just want to prepare some emergency supplies."

The space sensed the 20 bags of seeds and was speechless.

Tomatoes, Peppers (bell peppers, chili peppers), Cucumbers, Carrots, Lettuce, Radishes, Beans (green beans, snap beans), Peas, Spinach, Squash (zucchini, summer squash), Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Kale, Onions, Beets, Turnips, Corn, Pumpkins, Eggplant.

Gu Jin chuckled at the space’s reaction, but she was serious about her intentions.

With the potential dangers ahead, having a variety of vegetable seeds could provide her with a sustainable source of food if needed.

After stocking up on seeds, Gu Jin continued to gather other emergency supplies, including non-perishable food items, and medical supplies.

On the way she also bought some useful artifacts.

As she was exploring the market, Gu Jin heard a small weak voice,

"Good artifact just for 200,000 yuan!"

Gu Jin’s lips twitched.

200,000 yuan?

So expensive?

Gu Jin looked toward the source of the voice and saw a small petite girl with unique silver hair and blue eyes.

The girl was of a similar age as Si Kai. The only difference was...that the girl’s condition was much worse than Si Kai’s.

She was wearing a piece of ragged cloth and her face was covered with dust. Her hair was messy and from the looks of it, she had been hungry for the past 3 days.

Gu Jin looked at the 3 artifacts in front of the girl that were laid on a blue cloth.

"What artifact are you selling, little one?" Gu Jin asked in a gentle tone, crouching down to the girl’s level.

The girl looked up at Gu Jin with tired eyes, but there was a glimmer of hope in them as she held up a small pendant.

"It’s a healing pendant," the girl whispered weakly.

"It has the power to cure any ailment or injury."

Gu Jin examined the pendant closely, noting its intricate design and faint magical aura.

"It seems like a powerful artifact," Gu Jin remarked, impressed despite herself.

"But 200,000 yuan is quite expensive. Are you sure it’s worth that much?"

The girl nodded earnestly, her eyes pleading.

"I promise, it’s worth every penny. Please, I need the money to buy medicine for my sick grandmother. If I don’t sell this pendant, she won’t survive."

"What happened to your grandmother?" Gu Jin asked with a frown.

The girl bit her lips and lowered her head. Finally, she asked,

"Will you or will you not buy it?"

Her tone was filled with harshness.

However, Gu Jin could hear some different emotions hidden in her sentence.

Fear. Loneliness. Emptiness.

How come the children of the Magic World are so broken?

Gu Jin said softly,

"Okay. I will buy the necklace."
