Chapter 80: Black Business
Chapter-80
"Fine. I’ll say it. I am sorry for being late and making you go through all this alone," Elliana said, but the ladies still didn’t budge from their places.
"I love you all, and you are still my number one team?" Elliana tried, and they scoffed in unison before standing aside and walking in the direction where Elliana was supposed to go.
"Sometimes, I really think I am not your employer but an employee. You guys have started to throw tantrums now, and as much as cute they are, sometimes they are really scary. Swords? Seriously?" Elliana shook her head in pure amusement.
She looked at the people around her that have become more like her family and smiled contently.
They didn’t know that they weren’t the only ones who needed her; she needed them too.
When she found them two years ago, broken and about to be killed because their caretaker couldn’t take care of the specially-abled people, she had found herself saving them even when it wasn’t in the plan.
She had spent all the money she saved for 10 years on them without a second thought.
"They are here," One of the ladies signaled to her, and Elliana’s expression immediately turned serious.
"Well, what do we have here?" Elliana opened the door and looked at the sight in front of her.
Her expression and her voice took a 180° turn, and she looked at the people in front of her in pure irritation and annoyance, masked by her fake smile.
"Miss Elliana, what a pleasant surprise," The Duke of the vampires looked at Elliana up and down, but her face, her body, everything was hidden.
In fact, it was even hard to judge her original scent because of the heavy disinfectant that was sprayed on her on everyone in this area just to ensure no scents were given away.
"Mr. Marcello," Elliana walked to the man, who looked at the women dressed in black commando dresses, following the girl, a particular woman catching his gaze.
"You have some good security force here. But why are all of them women? And they are quite rude. No matter how many questions we asked them about when you’ll be here, they only glared at us and left with refreshments. This isn’t good business behavior and attitude," The Duke said, looking at the women again.
His gaze settled on the same particular woman in golden locks, who looked at the man and hid behind Elliana.
Elliana noticed this interaction and hummed.
"This is not your first time, is it? That’s what I have told them. You don’t have business with them. You have business with me. They are specially trained not to open their mouth no matter what happens because it’s not part of their job. That’s why they didn’t answer you. And regarding why all of them are women - I guess I never found worthy men to do my work and entrust them with myself," Elliana held an amusement in her tone, and the women looked at her before looking down.
"Anyway, I am sure we are not here to discuss why I have what kind of high security. We are here to talk about the revenue model of the Black Market. I hope I haven’t made a mistake by investing in you," Elliana said, and the Duke sighed.
"Why are you always uptight? Try to live a little. I know we are only business partners, but you don’t need to treat me like I am the last person you want to meet on Earth. I am a man and a very handsome one, as I have been told," Marcello looked at the girl, who forbade everyone from seeing what she looked like.
Elliana looked at the man up and down and looked back into his brown eyes.
He was handsome, no doubt, but none of these people can hold the light to her Mr. Marino, who is the epitome of handsomeness and the dangerous vibes he oozes that she is such a fan of and -
Elliana coughed to hide her emotions that were going haywire.
"Anyway, I wasn’t able to contact you all for one year. What is going on in the black market so far? Are there any new drugs that we can test? I have joined -" Elliana paused.
No. She shouldn’t be doing this. It’s better to hide as much information as she can from these people, or it won’t be long before they find out who she is. Her hidden identity is the biggest weapon she can use against them.
"I have joined a lab where I will be testing new drugs soon. I want something to hide my scent too. A spray in the form of some perfume would be convenient. Also, something to kill vampires," Elliana stated her demands without hesitation, and Marcello chuckled.
"Well, don’t you think you are being a bit too forward by asking the drug to kill vampires from a vampire Duke?" He asked, and she smirked.
"I don’t think so. For me, you are not a Duke. You are my business partner who is handling my business for me. Do you have a problem with my demands? If yes, there’s the door, and you can see yourself out," Elliana bent forward leisurely, her posture screaming power.
"Geez, girl. Learn to take some jokes, will you? Why are you always so uptight with me? I can’t believe that you hate vampires because if that had been the case, you wouldn’t be dealing with all the vampires single-handedly and even helping their females," he paused.
"You are doing something that was our job," Marcello trailed off, his gaze shifting to Glow again and again, and Elliana sighed.
"Eyes here, Marcello," Elliana warned, and he cleared his throat.
"Anyway, as I was saying, I know you are a human and a very good one at that who don’t distinguish between species. So why do you hate me so much?" Marcello asked.
"Don’t you know the reason? Haven’t you been trying to take away my Glow for as long as I can remember? Do you think I don’t notice these seldom stares and adorable gazes you give her?
But let me remind you; we are meeting only for business. You don’t have anything to do with my girls, and I hope it stays that way. Am I clear?" Elliana asked before taking off her shades.
The vampire Duke looked into her beautiful Amber eyes that held nothing but a serious expression, and he gulped before nodding.
"This is the revenue of the entire year from your product. We will be waiting for more of those products. Every time you launch something, it’s a best seller. I don’t know how you come up with these illegal ideas," Marcello said before he nodded at his men in the corner of the room, who had been staying like some invisible dust until he nodded.
Elliana raised her brows at the 10 or so men who had been standing in the corner.
She was losing her game these days. How could she not notice these people? It could’ve been dangerous at so many levels.
She gritted her teeth before looking at the twenty or so briefcases that were slid to her side since Marcello knows the 20 steps rule Elliana has.
He has maintained that rule and respected it ever since he met the young girl one and a half years ago, who seems like she has grown so much in maturity.
"How much is it in total?"
"2 billion," Marcello said, and Elliana looked at her girls, who immediately started taking the briefcase so they could transfer the money to her bank account.
"How much did you keep?" Elliana raised her brows.
"Well -"
"3.5 billion," Elliana’s knowledge was precise for someone who was out of business, and Marcello chuckled awkwardly.
"I wasn’t here to see the business since last year because of some personal issues, but now I am back. The deal will be 60-40 now. I will get the 60% and you 40%. If you have any problems, you can contact me through this number,"
"You have gotten a phone now?" Marcello raised his brows, and Elliana hummed, her mind going to the man who gave the phone to her.
"There is a ball party after a month. Many important Dukes like me would be attending. It’s a good opportunity for you too -"
"I will call you when I have a new product. I don’t trust people easily. Don’t break my trust," Elliana didn’t hear the rest of his sentence, and Marcello didn’t know if he should be proud of her trust or just straight annoyed because she might just be the first human who never gives him any face.
"Will you always treat me like this? I am Duke that people can kill to meet, and I always come to meet you at the first message from your people," Marcello said, and Elliana looked him up and down before standing from her place.
"Thank you for your efforts," she bowed, and Marcello looked at her with a weird gaze.
After saying so much, he was expecting a hug, at least, but that’s okay. Something is better than nothing, right?
"You can leave now," Elliana said, and the smile on Marcello’s face dropped before he sighed.
Of course, wasn’t he expecting a bit too much? He sighed and nodded at her and the women’s team, his gaze lingering on Glow for a second before he left with his men, who all looked and bowed at Elliana in respect, a way to show their happy collaboration.
