The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 77: They can’t get along

Chapter 77: They can’t get along

"Are you ready?" Daniel walked to them, and Samantha, who was sitting leisurely with Elliana as the latter was busy taking in Vitamin D, looked at the guy.

"Ready for what?" Samantha knitted her brows.

"I wasn’t asking from you. This question was directed at Elliana. Are you ready to go dress shopping, my princess?" Daniel sat on the grass, mimicking her position, and she looked at him before humming.

"Is there any theme? I have many dresses in my wardrobe that I hardly wear. If you have a color in mind, I might not actually need to -" Elliana couldn’t complete her sentence because Daniel raised his hand in a signal for her to stop.

"Are you kidding me? I am taking you shopping. How can you even think of something like that? I will pay for your dress, and we will wear matching clothes and even masks. Do you understand it?" Daniel asked, and Elliana looked at his serious expression before nodding meekly.

"Why are you forcing her to go shopping? It’s not like some new dress is going to make her look any different. She is going to look like a small rat in all of them," Alcinder walked to them, and Elliana narrowed her eyes.

"At least I won’t be looking like a tall hanger under those three-piece suits," she scoffed.

"A hanger? Can’t you see these muscles and abs?" Alcinder raised his brows.

"Actually, no. I think my eyesight has become very selective. I become blind like some people I meet. Like you couldn’t see my height, I couldn’t see your muscles and so-called abs. Are these even called abs? I have seen way better," Elliana scoffed, and Alcinder raised his brows again.

"You have seen better? Don’t tell me you are the type of girl who would go to a swimming class just to share at the boys’ chest," he mused.

"I am not. Our servants have better figures than you. And mind you, whether I go to a swimming class or a dance class, what does it have to do with you? Don’t tell me you are jealous because you can’t stare at some long legs since you have to maintain your so-called reputation. Do you want me to sign you up there too? Just like I did at that racetrack?" Elliana looked at him with wide eyes.

"Are you indirectly calling me a pervert?" Alcinder narrowed his eyes, and Elliana looked at him with an annoyed scoff.

"Why do I have to call you indirectly? I can always use direct words. I had no intention of calling you a pervert, but it looks like you know exactly who you are. Next time you want to stare at some sexy legs, call me, and I will arrange a show for you at some brothel," Elliana’s mouth ran even more savagely, even shocking Samantha and Daniel.

The more she opened to them, the newer side they were able to see of her.

"What did you say? Do I look like the kind of guy to go to a brothel?" Alcinder stepped toward Elliana, looking down at her as they were almost nose to nose.

If it had been anyone, they would’ve backed up, but Elliana just stared directly into his eyes and scoffed.

"What can I say? We never know what kind of guy you are,"

"You!"

"Yes, me! What about me?!" Elliana stood on her tiptoes to try to go face-to-face with Alcinder, and the latter didn’t know whether to laugh at her attempt or get angry at her words.

Seeing Alcinder almost getting angry, Daniel and Samantha looked at each other in confusion and annoyance.

What do these both have against each other? They can’t have a single conversation or interaction without insulting each other.

"What about you? You are a rabbit," Alcinder said, and Elliana gritted her teeth.

"And what are you? Freaking bottle gourd that no one even likes," Elliana said.

"Hey, I think that’s enough. You guys have insulted each other enough. We were talking about dress shopping. How the hell did it reach animals and vegetables?" Daniel pulled Elliana away from Alcinder, and the latter scoffed.

"If I were you, I would watch my back," Alcinder threatened her, and Elliana smiled sinisterly.

"And if I were you, I would pull up my game," Elliana said.

"Can we go, please? Are you guys coming along?" Daniel asked for formality, hoping they would say no because he didn’t want another session of Rat and Bottle Gourd in some mall and have people make fun of them.

"Why not?? We need to go dress shopping too. Right, Samantha?" Alcinder looked at the girl, and she hummed absentmindedly.

This was the first time Alcinder was stepping ahead and taking the initiative for anything. First, he asked her for the prom, and now he wanted to go dance shopping with her. Who was she to complain?

Maybe it was because he had made some new friends who annoyed him and brought him out of his shell. And Samantha was thankful to Elliana in her heart for it. This was the most interactive she had seen Alcinder out of the council.

Samantha smiled and looked at Daniel, who was scowling hard, and she felt guilty.

She smiled awkwardly before they walked to Alcinder’s car and sat inside.

"I am sitting in the front," Daniel said before taking the shotgun, and Samantha took the window seat, making Elliana bite her lips.

She didn’t want to sit in the middle of Alcinder and Samantha, knowing all too well how much Samantha liked him.

"I want the window seat too. You go inside," Elliana said.

"What?"

"Go," Elliana pushed Alcinder inside the car.

"Okay, fine. Geez, woman! How much energy do you pack there?!" Alcinder said before realizing his mistake as soon as Elliana sat inside.

"And for some reason, none of you could bring your cars?" Alcinder groaned. He was sitting most uncomfortably in his own car.

He was about to complain more when Elliana scooted towards the window after rolling down the window, and he realized how much less space she was occupying.

Was she being considerate of his comfort? He looked at the girl before coughing. What the hell was he thinking? This human is becoming the bane of his existence. There is no way she would think about his comfort.

He scoffed before looking out of the window.

He couldn’t help it. His gaze was moving to this human again and again. The way her bangs were flailing with the wind, and even though she had put her hair in a tight bun, the way they were loosening from it and covering her face, he had the strongest urge to move that hair out of her face slowly.

She looked like a model who was shooting a car commercial.

"Won’t your hair tangle at this rate?" He commented after a few seconds, and Elliana rolled her eyes.

"They won’t. Look," Elliana grabbed his hand and made him run through her hair.

They were smooth. More then smooth than he had anticipated. He looked at her innocent expression and felt his heart skipping a beat. The way that hair was going in her eyes, his hand moved on its own and tucked that hair behind her ear.

Everything happened so quickly, but so him, everything looked so slow, as if everything was stopping and the time was moving really slowly.

"Are you happy now? I pity Samantha, seriously. You nag a lot. You are worse than those aunties," Elliana went back to her gazing out of the window, not even bothering to look at the guy who was still stuck in the smoothness of her hair.

"Alcinder, I didn’t know you nag so much. Aren’t you irritating my partner a bit too much?" Daniel teased, and it was enough to bring him out of his thoughts, and he looked at Daniel, who was still chuckling along with Samantha.

"Shut up, you both," Alcinder rolled his eyes, trying to forget about what he felt.

While Elliana was looking out at the shops, her mind was constantly thinking about how is she going to make up the time and sneak to the base where she needed to meet those people. They have been waiting for her arrival and her answer for some time. The more she would delay, the harder things would become for her and then.

It’s 3 pm right now. Their college usually ends at 5 pm. She was lucky today since one of their lecturers didn’t come today. This gave her the benefit of 2 hours.

She was expecting to end this dress-shopping ordeal in two hours and then go for the meeting and end it in another two hours. That was the plan, and she hoped to make it work, or things would become hard to explain to Mr. Marino. Though he said to call him when she was done with her shopping, he would probably become suspicious if she spent too much time outside.

This was the first time, and she needed to maintain the trust if she wanted to go the next time too. Elliana sighed and closed her eyes.
