Chapter 73: A backup saving Elliana
Chapter-73
"What was this all about?" The lady, the leader of the witch clan, in the room asked, smoking a special kind of herb, and her subordinates, who were lined up in front of her, gulped at the coldness in her voice.
"Pardon, madam," one of the witches dared to speak, and the lady in front of them extinguished her smoke stick before standing from her place and walking to the window.
"Is it hard to understand what I am asking about?" The lady turned to the group of people with a cold smirk before she walked to them, a bit too close then they would’ve preferred.
"If that’s the case, let me ask it more directly. Who is responsible for teaching the new students?" The lady asked, and the young witch, dressed in a violet maxi dress, raised her hand.
"I should’ve known. The young generation is indeed turning disrespectful these days. You tested your students and asked them to turn the environment. Someone was able to do it. It’s been one hour since that happened, and I am yet to be informed of that student who was born with a natural talent?" The lady walked to the youngster.
Everyone’s breath hitched when they felt her infamous golden aura of suppression, and they gulped.
"Do you think just because you’ve gotten a natural talent under your wings, you are above the elders now?" The lady held the witch’s hair and yanked her head backward, making everyone flinch slightly as the witch’s painful wince echoed in the silent room.
"I am sorry, leader, but I have no idea what you are talking about. I didn’t make any students perform the special test. None of them are ready enough to channel their energies. Please spare me," The witch’s words shocked the leader, and she looked at others amazed.
"Is that true?" The lady asked, and all the witches nodded.
"If that’s the case, why did none of you stop me when I was punishing her? You have no sense of companionship, do you?" the lady’s words made everyone sigh in relief in their heart. At least they were free from her wrath.
"All of you are dismissed. All but Marissa," The lady said, and Marissa looked the leader directly in the eye as soon as everyone left.
"We are the only clan in this area. Isn’t this weird that it rained and thundered when it wasn’t supposed to be? This is not normal. It’s the test that every witch goes through. Now the question is, if it isn’t our students, then who is it?" The lady paused.
"These kinds of thunderclaps, I feel like I haven’t heard them in almost an eternity. The last time I heard something like this was when the princess of the witch king of the West got admitted into the normal school and was tested. I was there at that time.
Including me and her, five more students were able to complete the test. The intensity of the thunderclaps was what ensured who was the strongest of us all," the lady remembered with a smile, and Marissa was shocked to see the genuine smile on her face.
She didn’t know her leader was capable of that.
"I would be damned if I don’t find out who this person is who has so much anger bubbling inside him/her. This kind of person shouldn’t be living alone. This person should be brought here, under my wings, so that I can make my clan the strongest. If we have that kind of untamed person, we can actually compete with other clans and even use this person’s energy to strengthen ourselves," the lady said, and Marissa nodded.
"Bring that globe of yours and try to locate this person before it stops raining. These droplets are like our easiest gateway to go to this person because this thunderstorm is caused by their energy and emotions. I can only trust you with this kind of information. Do it," The lady ordered, and Marissa closed her eyes before chanting a spell.
The crystal globe that Marissa chanted the spell for appeared on the table, and she walked to the globe before closing her eyes and placing her hand over it.
She initiated the spell before looking out the window.
It looked like the rain was about to stop. Someone was stopping it. Marissa’s eyes widened, and she quickly rushed to the window before collecting a handful of water in her palm.
She walked to the globe and splashed the globe with the water she collected so that it could locate the person who used their spell on this rainwater.
"I want you to take me to the person who activated your Magna," Marissa said to the rainwater over the globe before placing both of her hands on the globe.
She closed her eyes, letting the globe take her to the destination slowly.
"Is it working? Is it taking you there?" The lady asked, excited, and Marissa nodded.
"It is taking me there slowly," Marissa’s brows scrunched, and she felt herself going through some kind of dimension and time-lapse altogether.
It was really slow. This kind of pace only ensures that the person, whoever it was, was well protected.
Marissa concentrated harder and found herself in some kind of forest. Are these forests near that person? No. These forests were only a kilometer away from their current base.
She was going too slow, but something was better than nothing. As her mind took her to places, she caught a strong whiff of blood, fresh Blood, and flesh.
"Where is it taking you? Keep telling me so that you don’t forget everything when the globe throws you out like last time," The lady said, and Marissa narrowed her eyes.
"It’s taking me to the east of the forest. I am almost at the end. I am nearing civilization. People are talking. These people are special. There is a woman with a black angel wings tattoo on her shoulder. The crystal paused near her.
Her face isn’t clear, but she is not the one. She doesn’t have those vibes. Maybe she is the accomplice of that person? I am moving further close. There are people with fangs and claws everywhere. Some are hiding, and some are walking casually. I am walking further -" A golden and blue flash came out of nowhere and threw Marissa out, making Marissa jerk away from the crystal ball.
"Marissa!" The lady rushed to her and held her hand, helping her up.
"Oh my god, you are bleeding. This is not good for a witch. Don’t you know that you can’t bleed during a spell?" The lady rushed, brought cotton, and placed it over her nose to stop the bleeding.
She looked at Marissa, whose eyes were wide as if she was shocked by something. The lady wanted to ask her what she saw before she was jerked out of the ball, but she knew right now wasn’t the time.
Her gaze moved towards the window, and seeing the rainbow, she gritted her teeth before looking at the witch in her hand. Marissa is one of the strongest witches in the clan, and she uses her only when she wants to track something, all because of her powers and how accurate she is.
Seeing one of the best witches down and bleeding like this, the lady’s eyes turned slightly green, and her fists clenched.
The things her witch mentioned only lead them to the vampire kingdom. But why would a witch be in the vampire kingdom? And what for?
"I don’t know what happened, leader. I was walking further to the destination when out of nowhere, a blinding flashlight came to me, and the force was so powerful that I was jerked out of the area. It almost knocked me out, and if you hadn’t been here, I don’t think I would have been alive or not badly harmed," Marissa said, and the lady sighed.
"It looks like we underestimated this person. How could we consider that someone didn’t get their hands on this person before us?" The lady gritted her teeth, and she was about to walk back to her seat when Yaretzi entered the hall with a distant look.
"Miss Yaretzi, what a pleasant surprise," the leader immediately turned polite.
Though Yaretzi was more than half a century younger than the leader, it was her exceptional powers that made the leader respect her.
"Why is she bleeding? I hope it didn’t occur while performing a spell. If so, you should take her to the doctor," Yaretzi said before sitting and bringing tea, and the leader nodded.
"It’s my fault, actually. We were trying to locate this new person who made this thunderstorm appear. We were sure someone performed the test and Excelled in it. How great would it be if this person was in our group," the lady said, and Yaretzi took a sip of her drink.
There was no doubt they were talking about Elliana. And regarding, what must’ve protected her identity, she doesn’t even need to guess. God knows what kind of backup she has that she got that pendant with her.
"And what makes you think that this girl doesn’t have a group? Look what your greed did. Our witch would’ve lost her life today. Don’t rush into things before judging the severity of things from next time," Yaretzi stood.
"Right. I was here to tell you; I would be busy for the next month. There is something I need to do as part of my duties," Yaretzi said before walking out and heaving a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, in the Himalayas, the witch looked at the witches who had been trying to locate Elliana and rolled her eyes.
"Huh, if this girl was so tameable, we wouldn’t be suffering like this," the witch thought before clicking her fingers to enhance the shield around Elliana from other witches.
