Chapter 61: The message

"Thank you for the -" Elliana paused in her sentence when she spotted Aditya walking inside the canteen, looking as dashing as ever, and she narrowed her eyes.

"I will catch up with you guys later. I have to talk to him," Elliana rushed without waiting for their answers, and they turned to look at her.

Aditya got a phone call from someone, and he walked out of the canteen again.

"Aditya, wait!" Elliana said behind him, and he paused before turning around, his quirked gaze on her with his attention on the call.

Elliana looked into his familiar brown eyes that looked curious but serious. His hair was styled back. He wasn’t wearing something outstanding. Just loose jeans and a T-shirt below a jacket. He looked like your everyday teenager, just a bit handsome for sure.

"Yes, I need you to look at those files. I will do that. Don’t worry," Aditya said.

Elliana’s gaze fell to his pink moving lips before she gazed back into his eyes, making him quirk his brows.

As Elliana kept looking at him, she was reminded of the first day she had seen Aditya, and her heart had skipped a beat for him.

He was a handsome human. There was no doubt about it.

And if she hadn’t been married to an even more handsome man like Mr. Marino, she might have had a tiny crush on Aditya that she wasn’t embarrassed about.

"I will get back to you on the progress when I return. Okay, I will read those files. Also, ask Dad if I should case study the blue project or if I should drop it since we haven’t been able to find anything so far," Aditya said over the phone before ending the call.

"You wanted to talk to me, Elliana?" Aditya had his sole attention on the girl, who looked like she had something important to talk about.

Elliana nodded.

"Would you like to talk over a cup of coffee? Cold coffee in your case," Aditya asked, and Elliana looked inside the canteen where Madeline was talking with her friends and shook her head.

"Would it be okay if I ask for some privacy? I actually want to talk to you alone," Elliana said, and Aditya smiled before nodding.

"Sure. Let’s go to the back of the university near the forest. It’s your favorite spot, no?" Aditya suggested, and Elliana was about to follow him but stopped abruptly.

"How do you know that the forest is my favorite spot? Were you the one who ordered those boys to attack me?" Elliana asked, and Aditya chuckled.

"You will see,"

Elliana followed Aditya to the backyard of the college before stopping when he did.

"Look at that window. That’s the cultural seminar room. This place can be easily seen from there, and I have seen you here during lunch and your free period quite several times in the last couple of days. So I can only think this is your favorite place," Aditya explained, and Elliana hummed.

"Does Madeline have the same classes?" Elliana’s question made him raise his brows.

"What are you implying, Elliana? You know it’s not good to accuse someone uselessly, right? And what did you mean the boys attacked you? What is this all about?" He asked, and Elliana hummed.

"What if I am not accusing someone uselessly but am serious?" Elliana asked, and Aditya raised his brows.

"Tell me everything, from the beginning," Aditya said, and Elliana sighed.

Meanwhile, Blue, who was sitting on the tree, looking straight at Elliana and Aditya took out her vape and smoked a bit to concentrate.

She felt her phone ringing and took it out to see who it was. With a sigh, she picked up the call, immediately going into professional mode.

"Is the Princess in front of you?" Sebastian’s question made Blue look back at the princess who was sitting on the bench with Aditya. She thinned her lips.

"Yes, sir. The princess is in front of me,"

"It should be her lunchtime. What is she doing?" Sebastian played with his paper weight and looked at the chart displayed on his table that has a new blueprint of all the hideouts of human camps that they have been able to discover so far.

"She is talking with the council head’s son of the human species," Blue said, and Sebastian’s movements paused.

He walked to the balcony and looked at the forests with a dazed look.

"What are they talking about?" He asked.

"It looks like Aditya was our princess’s first crush," Blue’s words made Sebastian quirk his brows.

"Is that so?" He asked, and she hummed.

"What else are they talking about? Are they discussing anything about the Blue project? I heard that’s what they are calling this handout project," Sebastian said.

"No, sir. The princess is kind of angry? Her expressions don’t look good. She is telling him about what happened in the forest with her and how a group of boys attacked her. The princess is asking him to look into the matter if they want to keep the peace treaty intact," Blue paused.

Though they weren’t talking and conspiring about what Sebastian had guessed, it doesn’t mean he felt relieved. He was angry that she had the heart to tell this council’s head’s son about what happened to her but has still not come clean with him, her husband, who is supposed to know everything.

Does she think he is incapable of avenging her humiliation? Or is it that she doesn’t trust him?

Then again, even when he had decided to punish those boys, he wasn’t able to do anything because they were ambushed and kidnapped in the middle.

It still irks him. How is that possible? Someone dared to take away the hostages from the youngest vampire prince, and his best guards weren’t able to do anything. What is even worse is that they don’t even know who this person might be.

The only thing they could get hold of was the similar black biker outfits they were wearing along with black angel wings on their jackets.

They dared to cross him. And now he was hellbent on finding who this person could be.

"What else are they talking about?" Sebastian asked, shaking himself out of his thoughts.

"Aditya is holding the princess’ hands and telling her he would do everything in his power to find out about those boys and who might have attacked her. He will ensure they are punished severely," Blue said, and Sebastian scoffed.

"Keep a keen gaze on her. They might secretly talk about the project," Sebastian ended the call before clenching his hand around the paperweight that he had picked earlier.

His gaze and expression were unreadable. It was hard to depict if he was angry because she wasn’t talking about the Blue project and he wasn’t getting any further information from her, or because she was complaining about those boys to that jerk and not him.

"Sir, the spies are here. They have some intel on the royal family. It looks like Prince Vincenzo is helping Sir Stephano in looking into the princess’ information. We all know how good Vincenzo’s skills are when it comes to information. Do you think we should intervene?" Harry asked, and Sebastian sighed.

"So now everyone is searching for my wife? I bet none of them would’ve come forward to marry her in my place, and suddenly she is the most interesting topic for the entire Kingdom just because she is a replacement and not the one they had decided?" Sebastian scoffed.

"Bring them to the meeting hall. I will be there in a minute. Also, tell them to prepare their answers beforehand. I have to go and pick the princess too. She is getting too wild these days," Sebastian pinched the bridge of his nose.

Though Harry didn’t understand what the prince was talking about, he nodded nonetheless and left the room.

"So Aditya was your first crush, hmm?" Sebastian rolled the paperweight on the table before chuckling at his wife.

It’s funny how she always attracts stronger men to herself. She doesn’t even know the entire royal Kingdom is intrigued about her. She has the famous strong vampire teenagers at her whim and the elders are no better, no?

Now should he look out for the humans she is interacting with or for the vampires who strangely want to be close to her? Sebastian thought looking at the photo of Aditya holding Elliana’s hand blinking on his messenger.

"Let’s start with the vampires for now and see what exactly they want from you, yeah?" Sebastian smirked, his gaze turning darker as his primal predatory instinct started to become strong.

It’s been a long time since he fed on a fresh source too. It looks like he needs to go to the blood slaves before he goes and meets the princess or he would end up doing something that he might later regret.

"What are you talking about?" Aditya looked at Elliana with scrunched brows.

"You know exactly what I am talking about, Aditya. No one apart from Madeline knows me or even has any problem with me. I don’t know why you can’t see it but apart from her, there is literally no one who wants me out of this world right now. Unless you are now working against me too -"

"Are you out of your mind? I would never do anything like that against you! You have no idea what I feel towards you so you better -" Aditya, who had held Elliana’s shoulders in anguish, cleared his throat when he realized what he was doing and sighed.

Elliana looked into his enraging brown eyes that looked like they wanted to say more but were afraid of something and sighed.

She wanted to ask him what was it, but now it felt like she didn’t have the right to.

"I am sorry. I said it at the spur of the moment, but I hope you also realize where I am coming from. Look, Aditya, -" Elliana held his hand between hers again.

"- I am not telling you to suspect Madeline uselessly and get her behind bars or punished without proof. All I am asking for you is to keep her in the cage of suspicion with everyone else. Don’t neglect her just because she is a Princess, and well, my stepsister. You can do that, right?" Elliana looked at Aditya.

He gazed into her beautiful amber eyes that were looking at him with so much hope and found himself nodding.

"Okay. I will look into the matter without being biased against anyone. My opinions would be open to all. I assure you, Elliana, I will get to the roots of the matter, no matter how much time it takes," Aditya said, and Elliana smiled at him genuinely.

"Thank you. You have made me realize I still have a friend here, among humans who I can look up to,"

"You can always look up to me, Ana," Aditya tuck her hair behind her ears, his hand stopping around her neck.

Seeing him dazed and sensing his emotions, Elliana stepped away a bit, and Aditya snapped out of it before apologizing.

"I am sorry for this. I should be get going now. My dad needed me to talk to the dean about something,’ Aditya excused himself and left.

Elliana was about to stand from her place when she remembered the message she received from the private number.

[I am waiting for you by the pond.] The message said, and Elliana felt her heart race.
