Chapter 581: Something more than they can imagine
"Leila, you are making no sense to me. Why is it problematic that Arizona asked for Elliana’s help? Are they planning something again? If that’s the case, I won’t allow my daughter to go anywhere near those evil b*tches," Azura said, and Leila gulped.
"It’s not that they are planning something together. Arizona isn’t conspiring with Azrael either. It’s that Azrael is -" Leila gasped, immediately clutching her neck.
Azura stood from her place, the jug of herbal tea falling down on the carpet as she looked at the blood coming out of Leila’s mouth.
"N-no. Leila, what is it? You can’t die on me like this without telling me the truth. You said you would help me and my daughter because of everything. Tell me the truth. Azrael did what?" Azura gripped Leila’s shoulders, shaking the woman violently.
Tears flowed down Leila’s eyes as she fell to her knees in utter pain.
Her insides were churning, and it was almost as if someone was cutting her veins one by one.
Her throat was clogged, and no matter how hard she tried, even thinking of performing any kind of magic to tell Azura or give her a hint was making her condition even worse.
"Double," Leila spat the word with great difficulty before she fell on the ground in a cocoon shape to ease the pain.
Leila knew she wouldn’t be able to do anything to protect herself anymore. Her entire life flashed right in front of her eyes as she gasped for every breath she took.
Azura clenched her fists and placed her hand on Leila’s heart. She didn’t want to use her magna to save Leila because she wanted to give this Magna to her daughter.
But saving Leila was more important when she knew something that might be able to save them from something tragic that her sister was planning.
"Nathaniel -" Azura whispered to call Nathaniel, who immediately appeared right in front of her.
The guy scooted on his knees and looked at Azura, placing his hand on hers to help Leila without being asked.
"What exactly happened?" Nathaniel asked, feeling a dominating power pushing them back.
Nathaniel felt his skin starting to tear up as they fought back the dominating power with all they had.
Leila coughed more blood, pieces of her flesh coming out of her mouth, making the man disgusted as he closed his eyes to concentrate on the pushing back of the powers.
There was no doubt it was related to Azrael even when Azura didn’t tell him anything.
Why? Because she was the only witch in the world right now who was going ahead without her emotions with all the energies collected together.
Nathaniel opened his eyes and looked at the woman who was turning pale with each second.
It wasn’t enough.
"Queen Azura," Nathaniel looked at Azura in an indication.
Azura pressed her lips into a thin line.
She didn’t want to resort to this method but now that they were not left with any choice, she rose from her place and raised her hand, forming an invisible chakra circle in the air. She whispered the chant of sealing before pushing the circle straight into Leila’s chest, making the woman scream in pure horror and agony as it almost felt like someone shredded her heart into tiny pieces.
"This was the only way," Nathaniel said to Azura, who hummed.
This was the most painful of resurrections. Only two people mastered this technique in history. One was their ancestor, Samira, and the second one was Azura.
It was only possible if the person was alive.
If the person you want to free from an evil witch’s clutches is still alive, you have to chant this spell and pour a few years of Magna into the circle, ensuring that the star becomes right. And as soon as the star molds into the shape of a small flame, you have to put that flame into the person’s heart to protect them from the witch’s clutches and burn the hold of that other witch.
The method was extremely painful because the person on whom this method is used would almost feel like their heart is burned while still inside them. However, if the person is able to get through this pain, they will get to live too.
Azura looked at Leila screaming in pain and leaned on the wall.
Deep down, even after everything Leila did to her and her daughter, her heart ached for the witch. After all, wasn’t she abandoned and betrayed too? Just like all of them?
Now that she thinks about it, weren’t all these abandoned people after coming together looking like a cult?
"By the way, Sebastian got one more clan in their favor. Elliana has woken up and judging from how she was looking, I think she handled it pretty well. She bled quite a lot too, but Sebastian kept giving her his blood, and it protected her from going into extreme blood loss. But what about the tenth lock?" Nathaniel asked.
Azura, who was tired after performing an ancient spell and was resting on the couch now, sighed.
"I don’t know, Nathaniel. I used to be a proud queen before everything unfolded because I used to think I knew it all. That there is nothing in this world, no dark magic that I haven’t practiced or heard of, but now after everything has been revealed, I feel like, do I even know anything? Wasn’t I living in delusions?" Azura said, looking at the door when she felt her daughter’s presence.
She looked at Leila’s screaming form, the voice being blocked because of the shield they formed in the room.
"Elliana is here," Nathaniel said.
"I know that too. What are we supposed to do? What if Elliana tries to help Leila by giving her magna to her? She is already weak, but she won’t think about herself," Azura whispered, clearing her throat when she saw her daughter entering.
As soon as Elliana opened the door, she was greeted by Leila’s screams, and her gaze shifted to the screaming lady on the ground.
"What happened to her?" Elliana walked inside the room, her eyes a little concerned.
Azura explained everything to her, and Elliana pressed her lips into a thin line.
"That’s why I am here too. Arizona visited Sebastian and me when we were having some quality time in the clouds," Elliana said before she sat on the ground near Leila, making Azura look at Nathaniel.
"Elliana, don’t use your magna-" Nathaniel started, but before he could complete his sentence, Elliana held Leila’s hand.
"I am calling you, all the ghosts you see are walking away from you. Just relax and think about the moment you were born. Go back in time and think about the moment you first smiled. Just give in. You shall find peace," Elliana whispered softly, and Leila who was screaming earlier, started to go into a deep slumber.
Once she had fallen asleep, she stood from her place and looked at her mother.
"Was this how you had calmed me too when Arizona was stabbed and I was in pain?" Azura asked Elliana, who shook her head.
"No. I had used my Magna and Siren powers on you to make your pain lessen and have you think of it as a nightmare. Here, I just used my siren voice to help her forget about the pain and concentrate on positive things. She would still be in the same pain in her dreams, but she would be happy too," Elliana explained, making Nathaniel sigh.
"That’s some complicated stuff," Nathaniel said.
"Anyway, as I was saying, Arizona came to visit me again. She said something about not having enough time because Azrael has started to send her witches everywhere and is trying to find a hole to get into her magical realism and steal Father from there.
Arizona said Azrael is capable of that because she has always gotten what she wanted. What should we do? I don’t want my father to suffer anymore," Elliana said and Azura sighed.
"Same thing, my baby. I have the same thoughts too but -" Azura stopped.
"But?"
"But we still don’t know what Leila wanted to say. It can’t be just a mere coincidence that she was on the verge of dying just because she started to mention Arizona. It only means that whatever Azrael is planning, it’s bigger than we can imagine and Azrael doesn’t want us to know about it," Azura said.
Nathaniel nodded and stepped ahead.
"I agree. Probably that’s why she hurt Leila right at the moment when she was trying to tell the Queen everything about what was going on. And for her to choose the right moment, I won’t be surprised if she is keeping a gaze on us through some means. It’s not a witch spy anymore. She is probably using some kind of spell or technique," Nathaniel said, making Elliana look at her mother, worried.
Meanwhile, Azrael, who was eating ice cream while looking at what was unfolding in the room in her crystal ball, put another spoonful of ice cream in her mouth.
"Seriously, why are you guys so tactful and intelligent? Can’t you guys give me a break?" Azrael scoffed before smiling.
"Then again, what fun would it be if I didn’t have a strong opponent? Leila, dear, it looks like you have become a bigger hindrance in my life. You have to leave," Azrael smiled with no emotions on her face, closing her eyes as she played the music, moving her body along with it while enjoying her ice cream.
She was so ready to destroy her sisters.
