Chapter 56: Who is behind the voice?
Chapter 56: Who is behind the voice?
Chapter-56
"Hello? Hello?" Madeline looked at the black screen of her phone, and her hands trembled along with her heart.
Who was this person? Why did they make it sound like they would destroy everything that would come to harm Elliana? Was that even true? Did she hear something wrong?
This wasn’t the first time they were bullying Elliana or trying to do something like this to her. Why was it that after she got married, things were suddenly different?
It doesn’t make any sense at all. Could it be that someone was playing some kind of trick on her?
She hurriedly dialed her lackey’s number to enquire about the boys so her mind could be out at ease. If this person is real and had the audacity to threaten her like this, they must surely have done something.
Now she just needs to find out if there was anyone else who came to enquire about the boys apart from those two vampires that she mentioned.
"Hello? Why did it take forever to pick up your call? Yes, I am with Aditya in a restaurant to dine. Yes, that too. Would you let me come to the point? First, tell me where the hell are you," Madeline looked around before she walked to the corner so that no one would overhear her conversation.
"I am at one of the clubs. Wait. Let me get to the backdoor before we talk," Madeline’s lackey said before she rolled her eyes and showed her friends the middle finger to let them know who was on the call.
Everyone around laughed before they urged her to go and the lacky moved to the backdoor with a bored look.
"Yes, what is it, Madeline? You sound strangely worried about something. Did something happen? Have you heard anything about those boys that you had sent to punish your stepsister?" The lacky asked.
Apart from Aditya, she was the only one who knew that Elliana was Madeline’s step-sister. She has no idea why her step sister moved out of the house, but judging from how jealous Madeline is most of the time, it was pretty clear that it was something Madeline couldn’t get her hands on.
Besides, from the number of vampires that the stepsister involves, she knew it was something to do with vampires.
Maybe they sent Elliana to the vampire kingdom as a maid to improve their relationships but now that girl has won their hearts and they are helping her?
Besides, if that girl is really a vampire’s maid, things are bound to get messy. They are very possessive of their toys and take it as a challenge when someone other than them messes with their toys.
"That’s what I have called you for. You tell me. Have you heard anything about those boys? Did anyone else come to meet them apart from the vampires? Are they in their dorms or are they out? Has anyone suspicious been seen in the dorms or anywhere near it?" Madeline released the questions one after the other, and the lacky raised her brows.
Well, it was the first time she was hearing this kind of tone from the ’cool and collected’ Madeline. Was the matter really that serious? Her step-sister was a regular human who was hated by all and Madeline was the loved princess, no?
Or is there something that Madeline has kept hidden from her?
"Geez, calm down, babe. Why are you so stressed about it? Do you even hear yourself? Why are you making it sound like your stepsister is some big shot? She is just a regular human being, right? Your tone sounds like she is some mafia’s protected girl and everyone is out there to marry her. I think you are just exaggerating the matter -"
"Did I ask for your opinion, Camille? I asked you a few questions and I expect simple and easy answers to them. Is it too hard?" Madeline’s voice was full of urgency and Camille sighed.
"I am not sure. From what I have heard from the boy who is mad over me, the boys were called out to the dean’s office. No one knows what happened there, but they returned very scared. They refused to talk to anyone and kept their doors locked," Camille said and Madeline hummed to tell her to continue.
"He said they left at night. Everyone watched them sitting in a black Sedan and leave. Maybe they went for a routine check-up. Two of them have cousins who own black Sedans. So we can’t assume anything. Now will you tell me if something really happened? If I know I would be able to dig deeper into the matter. Your happiness and peace are all I want as a true friend," Camille smiled at her evil thoughts.
Peace, her foot. She just wanted to see the princess in deep sh*t so she could laugh about it. It fills her with pleasure when she sees Madeline losing her mind.
"I am not sure. A few minutes ago, I called one of the boys who I hired to hurt Elliana, but in his place, some weird woman picked up the call and threatened me. She said I would regret getting to know and messing with her. I can’t help but mull over who that is. Who would want to protect Elliana apart from -"
Madeline paused at this critical time.
She can’t tell anyone who her step-sister is and what position she holds in the vampire world now. No. This will snatch everything from her.
"I will talk to you later. Call me if you find anything," Madeline ended the call and was about to turn around when she heard a voice, making her freeze in her place.
"Madeline,"
The hair on Madeline’s neck stood and she gulped.
"Mom?" Madeline turned to look at the queen and Marla looked back at her with a glare.
"What did you do?" She asked and Madeline knew she was gone for.
While Madeline was losing her mind over who picked up the phone and why there was such a weird chill to their voice and what would she answer her mom now, Elliana stood on the balcony of her room as she looked at the forest.
She looked at her phone that had the message from a private number that was familiar to her.
"The work is done," the message said and Elliana deleted the message before sighing.
It was a close call today. If she hadn’t pulled her hand down at the right time while enjoying herself on the terrace, the chances of the prince seeing the blue glow in her hands were more prominent.
Though the glow was not visible to the naked eye of the others, he was one of the strongest princes, regardless of his age, and the chances of him being able to see it were the most among anyone around her.
One thing was for sure, whatever was going on with her was more than just a chakra control. She doesn’t know what that is, but she has this gut feeling that if she doesn’t get it under control, things would turn worse than before and it might lead to problems between Prince and her.
She is not a fool. She sees how the prince, though acts polite, has this suspicious gaze on her all the time. If he found out something was wrong with her, and she was more powerful than any average human being because she has unlocked her chakra control, what would he do?
Will he think she is a threat to him and has come to destroy him? That this is also a conspiracy of the hunter’s bloodline against him?
Elliana gazed at her phone and dialed one number that she had been thinking of dialing for a really long time.
She waited for the person to pick up the call. However, no one picked and she sighed before tossing her phone on the bed.
This was the number that G had given her before she walked out of that prison when she was bailed. According to her, this person knows what to do and how to tackle this problem with chakra control before it gets out of hand and starts hurting people around her.
The prince had left earlier after they had dinner. He said he had some business and needed to deal with someone and she shouldn’t wait for him. It was the perfect time for her to meditate and gain a little control over her chakras and unstable mind with no one’s interruption.
Elliana looked at the moon that was directly shining at her and sat on the ground with her eyes closed, ready to increase her psychic abilities so she could control her chakra powers even more.
She took a deep breath and concentrated on everything around her. Even things as small as the sound of the clock in her room, the sound of the cicadas, her even breathing form, the slight movement of her hair with the soft breeze, and how it felt on her skin, she started noticing everything.
After a few minutes passed and she got lost in the sound around her, she heard a soft whisper from deep within her.
’Don’t run away. Confront your demons, my love,’
Elliana opened her eyes with a jerk and heard the sound of her phone going off.
What was that? She thought before shaking her head and walking to the phone.
The person she had called was calling her back. Was it really okay to just talk to anyone about this condition of hers? What if the person on the other side isn’t really a good person?
She trusted G because she is the one who told her everything about what was going on, but what’s the probability that this person on the other hand was worth trusting?
Rather than mulling over it, she should just pick up her phone and ask who this person was, no? It’s not like they would force their help on her even if she doesn’t want it, right?
Elliana picked up the call and placed it near her ear to hear the voice of the person on the other side with a little tremble in her heart and thoughts.
A/N- What do you guys think? Who was the person who threatened Madeline? And whose message did Elliana receive ?
