Chapter 55: A dance
Chapter-55
He was about to walk to her when suddenly it started raining. The prince expected her to rush to him under the roof, but to his surprise, she released a soft giggle and twirled around again.
"It feels so refreshing," Elliana said, raising both her hands in the air as if she was absorbing the energy from around her.
Her hair started sticking to her body as she circled around, jumping in the water and collecting on the floor tiles.
She lifted her skirt a little and jumped into the water, making pit-pat noises.
Sebastian remembered what she said in the living room and looked at her with determination.
He looked at the soft rain and thinned his lips. He didn’t want to walk out and wet himself honestly, but seeing her enjoying herself so much, he couldn’t control himself. Her smile looked so unadulterated and pure that it made his heart want to join her and let loose.
It felt like going and being with her right now would ease some of the pain that he has stored in his heart. Her happiness was contagious, and he could feel it in his bones and emotions.
He was more tolerant of things that he wouldn’t have taken in any situation earlier.
He ruffled his hair with annoyance. She was seriously affecting him. He sighed and was about to walk in the rain when Elliana rushed to him.
"Mr. Marino, come, it feels good," Elliana blinked at him with a vibrant smile, and he hummed.
She walked closer to him so she was standing in the rain while he was standing under the roof.
"This is the best therapy nature can give you. Whenever you feel low, and it’s raining, dancing in it really helps a lot. Try it with me," Elliana grabbed his hand before her gaze fell on his watch.
Sebastian followed her gaze and took off his watch before placing it on the table with his purse and phone.
He then turned to Elliana who was eagerly waiting for him and extended his hand. He would’ve walked into the rain himself, but something in his heart told him that being pulled was another kind of bliss and this feeling didn’t disappoint him.
As soon as the raindrops touched his skin, his heart skipped a beat and he looked at the girl who was running ahead with his hand in her.
"Do you know how to dance?" She asked him, and he raised his brows at her.
"There is no music," Sebastian said, not denying the offer to dance, and Elliana chuckled before wiping the water droplets from her eyes.
"Who needs music to dance, silly? You can dance anywhere without any help. Just feel it here," Elliana placed her hand over his chest.
Did she just call him silly? Did she even realize it?
Sebastian stared at the girl. She was nothing like he had expected humans to be. Was she some special case? A rare case that occurs once in a while? She knew to live through the hardest times. Something, that he has seen many aristocrats battle and struggle with.
She was not cruel and manipulative like the humans he have met, rather she knew to spread happiness through her words and unadulterated actions. She knew how to smile without pretending and faking it, a smile that actually reached her eyes.
Elliana was nothing like he had thought those despicable humans from the hunter bloodline were.
He extended his hand subconsciously towards Elliana and poked her cheeks.
Elliana was confused by his actions, but when she looked into his eyes through the rain, for a second it felt like he was smiling. She imagined his face without the mask, and thought about how handsome he would look if he actually smiled, no?
"Do you know how to dance?" Sebastian asked after a few seconds when she didn’t say anything and just closed her eyes. His hand snaked on her waist softly to pull her close, his heart making him want to do things that his sane self would never recommend.
Elliana was like a ray of sunshine in his life indeed. As much as he didn’t want to accept it, this was what he knew in his heart too.
His mind and heart are always in a battle to think about what is right and wrong. His heart wanted to live in this moment, but his mind told him to not get any closer to this human who was distracting him from his ultimate goal.
"I don’t. Will you teach me?" Elliana’s answer to his previous question brought him out of his thoughts, and he looked at the girl who was blinking at him rapidly to stop the water that was going in her eyes and he sighed.
Just this time. It would be okay if he let loose and enjoyed the rain with her just this time. It won’t hurt anyone. It’s just an innocent dance, right? Sebastian consoled his mind.
"It’s okay if you don’t want to," Elliana smiled at him.
Though she was smiling, she felt a little down, and it was clear in her eyes.
She turned around and was about to walk back to the railing when Sebastian held her hand and pulled her so fast that her body hit him, and she looked at him with wide eyes.
Her chest ached because of the sudden jerk, but she didn’t want to complain because her heart was aching even more at his proximity.
"You are a princess. If this is a beauty and beast scenario, I am the monster here, and only your love can bring me out of this shell that I have around me," Sebastian said to her, without even realizing it because he was lost in her beauty, and Elliana’s eyes dilated a bit before.
She wanted to tell him that she would always be there with him, but Sebastian suddenly held her hand and made her stand on his foot.
Elliana looked down at their feet before looking into Sebastian’s eyes.
"Now watch and learn, okay?" Sebastian said, and she nodded with wide eyes.
Sebastian stepped back before stepping ahead, and Elliana looked at their joined hands and intertwined her fingers with his, making Sebastian look at her with an intense stare that she reciprocated with a happy smile of her own.
"No matter who leaves you or who you need to fight, I will always be by your side," She said, and a dance that started to be fun turned romantic when she placed her head under his neck, letting him feel her fast beating heart as they both drowned their miseries in the rain.
"Prince? Princess? What’s wrong? Why are you both wet? Did something happen?" Miss Zoya asked before she rushed and brought towels for them as soon as they descended the stairs.
"Why are you asking me? You should ask your princess who thought it was a good plan to walk in the rain," Sebastian said before he ruffled his hair, sprinkling water on Elliana accidentally and the latter giggled.
"It was fun," Elliana smiled.
Meanwhile, at the same time in a restaurant, Madeline sat in front of Aditya, trying her best to maintain that fake smile on her face that she had been keeping to hide her disappointment and anger.
She was so happy in the morning because she thought she would get a positive reply from the boys soon, but who would’ve thought that she would hear this instead?
They couldn’t do the job.
Not only that, she heard from her lackie that two vampires came to the university’s human dorms earlier and gone to the men’s building. They asked a few things and left in a fit of anger. Not only that, a few boys were threatened by those vampires because they did something bad to one of their people.
Those could be any random boys not associated with her, and Madeline shouldn’t react so much, but she couldn’t help herself but find the link between both cases.
The vampires said that the boys hurt one of their people. Wasn’t Elliana also considered one of their people after marriage now? The coincidence was a bit too much to ignore it.
Besides, the boys were threatened. The message clearly said that they weren’t able to do what they were told. It means Elliana was left unscathed, and the more she thought about it, the angrier she was becoming.
Thus, it was becoming a task to keep this smile plastered on her face when happiness was the last emotion in her mind.
"I need to take this call," Aditya stood from his place, and Madeline smiled before nodding.
They were actually waiting for their parents to arrive and join them for dinner. Earlier after leaving that showroom, Aditya had taken her to the council’s second base and done the work he needed.
After two hours, he asked her if she was hungry. She wanted to deny his offer because she was really angry about her plans that were ruined terribly but her mom called and said they would be joining them for the dinner so they should directly go there.
Madeline looked at her phone before dialing one of the boy’s numbers.
"Hello? Who is this?" The boy asked, and Madeline gritted her teeth.
"It’s me. I received your message. What is this all about? What exactly happened?" Madeline asked, and she was expecting some kind of excuse from his side, but to her shock, the only thing she heard was a shrill laugh.
"So you are the one who hired them?" the voice said and Madeline felt her heart dropping.
"Who are you? Are you from the vampire team?" Madeline asked and the voice laughed.
"Vampire? Do you mean Sebastian? No, sweetheart. I am not one of them, but I am definitely someone you would have wished you did not meet and mess with," the voice said before the call disconnected.
