Chapter 551: Nothing goes as planned

Chapter-551

Elliana kept walking, not stopping until she reached a small cliff and she padded towards the edge, taking a deep breath as she looked at the serene scene in front of her.

The sound of the birds chirping echoed around her, probably singing the evening song. However, for the first time, she didn’t feel happy hearing them, she didn’t feel the peace in her heart, nor did she feel the happiness that nature gave her all the time.

The storm in her mind was ruining everything inside her. Unfortunately, it was a storm that had no calming. It was the storm that was here to ruin her until nothing inside her was left.

With a soft sigh, she sat on the edge with her legs dangling down.

She kept looking forward, trying her best to keep her emotions in check, but it was really getting hard.

Bottling these emotions that wanted to come out and were creating havoc in her heart, paining her soul, was hard.

She closed her eyes, sniffing softly.

’Elliana,’ Circe whispered, lying down in her mind space as if wanting to hug her, or knowing what to say to their human counterpart, and Elliana smiled at her destiny.

’I don’t know what to say,’ Elliana whispered, a tear rolling down her eyes that she quickly wiped.

She didn’t want to become emotional.

But was it really possible?

’I don’t know what to feel. If I should be getting angry at the moon goddess for writing such destiny for me, should I be feeling thankful to Misha for letting me live these years and experience love with Mr. Marino, should I be sorrowful because my time to leave has already arrived when I haven’t even enjoyed family love, or should I pity myself and Mr. Marino for having this kind of cursed love. I honestly don’t know what to feel,’ Elliana whispered, smiling in self-mockery.

She blinked her eyes repeatedly to keep her tears at bay, but no matter how much she tried, her tears were falling endlessly and she sighed before finally giving up and sobbing.

Elliana tried to wipe her tears when she felt some movement behind her.

"I said I needed some time alone to -" She stopped talking when she recognized the familiarity of the presence.

Her hands immediately wrapped around her body as she hugged herself, consoling her.

"How could I let you have this alone time and cry alone when I know you need someone’s support the most?" Sebastian whispered, blinking away his own tears that were brimming his eyes again and again as he looked at his wife, breaking in front of him.

He took a deep breath before sitting beside her.

"Don’t look away from me, my love," Sebastian whispered when she looked away to wipe her tears.

"I am sorry, Mr. Marino," Elliana whispered after some time.

"For what?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana pressed her lips into a thin line before shaking her head.

"For what happened today," She bit her lower lip, barely controlling her sobs.

Sebastian noticed how she clenched her hand on her dress. He was about to place his hand on hers, but what she said next made him freeze in his place.

"If... If I had known I was dying like this, I wouldn’t have marked you today. I... Please forgive me. I didn’t want to curse you with my love. It’s me... I am your new curse. I... I didn’t want my love to become a curse for you for a lifetime. I know a mark is irreversible and -" Elliana didn’t dare to look him in the eyes.

"What did you say?" Sebastian clenched his hand on the rock, his strength cracking the rock as he barely controlled his anger while looking at his wife in disbelief.

"I... I am sorry for marking -"

"How can you say those words so easily, Princess?" Sebastian asked, holding her hand to catch her attention.

"I... " Elliana started but Sebastian interrupted her.

"How can you say those words so easily and disregard my love for you? Do you realize how hurtful your words are? Do you think I would ever regret what I shared with you? My love for you... The love that I am so proud of, do you think it’s so weak?" Sebastian asked, his own voice breaking as he asked her these questions.

Elliana broke into sobs once again.

"No... You can’t get to cry and make it alright. Tell me, Princess. Would you have regretted our marking if it was me dying?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana shook her head as more tears rolled down her eyes.

"N-never. I would’ve never regretted the moment we shared. It wasn’t just desire or love. I poured my soul and surrendered my heart to you," Elliana hiccupped, making the man nod.

"Then what about me? Do you think I don’t love you enough? Will dying before you prove my love to you?" Sebastian asked.

Elliana immediately placed her hand on his mask over his mouth.

"Please don’t speak about your death so casually. I would die a thousand times rather than see you die in front of me," Elliana whispered before she broke into another hysterics of sobs and threw herself on Sebastian.

She realized her mistake. In her attempt to make herself feel less guilty, she was only hurting Mr. Marino.

"I am sorry, Mr. Marino. I don’t know what I am thinking or speaking anymore. This... I don’t know how to handle this news. This wasn’t what I planned," Elliana whispered, and Sebastian placed his hand on her head, caressing her hair as he placed her head on his chest.

"I know, my love. This wasn’t what we planned," Sebastian whispered before taking a deep breath.

Nothing was going as he had planned.

He had dreamt of marking his Princess, making her his queen. Then he would’ve thrown a big wedding that would’ve become the talk of the town, and let her rule along with him.

He didn’t want to stay in the royal palace with her. Rather, he wanted to enjoy the peace of simple living with his wife.

Then after a couple of months when Elliana would’ve been ready, he would’ve asked her if she wanted to become the mother of their children. He didn’t want one or two, but 5-6 kids, obviously if she agreed to it.

He wanted to have that farmhouse with forest on one side, the Lakeview on the other side with their children playing in the backyard as he loved her and helped her peel fruits while annoying her with his kisses and occasional touch.

That was the kind of image he had in his mind for their future. The kind of image that he wanted to live for the rest of eternity.

Sebastian had even started looking for a way and herbs that he had fed Elliana for her to live for a long time, just like he, as a vampire, would. In fact, he had asked Marcus to do a study about it.

He wanted to spend his eternity with her because he knew no amount of time was enough to be with her, to love her.

However, who would have thought life would throw this surprise at him?

Sebastian clenched his eyes shut, letting his tears fall freely as he controlled his emotions for his woman.

He wanted to scream, wanted to curse, cry, and wreck the world for playing this kind of joke on him.

His wife was the only precious thing in his life and he was ready to give everything to save her. He was ready to give his heart to her if it meant she would get to live, but...

He felt helpless.

"I am sorry, Mr. Marino.... I didn’t want this to happen. I... I don’t know what I should do right now. Lost. I feel lost," Elliana wailed in his arms.

The man whose heart was said to be made of rock, broke down as a whimper left his mouth, making him place his fist in front of his mouth because he didn’t want to make his wife more sad than she already was.

"I want to be out of here, Mr. Marino. Please hide me somewhere. I don’t want to be outside. Please hide me with yourself where no one would be able to take me away from you. I don’t want to die. Please, I want to live with you. You love me, right? We have just marked each other. Please... Please... Please...," Elliana clenched her fists on Sebastian’s shirt as she pulled herself close to him, begging him.

Sebastian’s beast shed tears as they realized how sad their love was.

Seeing her trembling in his arms as if she was fearful that she was dying the same day, Sebastian couldn’t help but take a deep breath to control his emotions.

One of them needed to be sane in this situation for both of them. He wiped his eyes, patting and rocking her like a baby.

"Shhhh, don’t cry, baby. Please. Nothing is decided. We will find a way. I promise. You trust me, right? Nothing will happen to you. I will fight the gods if it would need that for you to stay alive. Don’t cry," Sebastian whispered, unsure if he was consoling his wife or himself as he kept hugging her close to his chest.
