Chapter 541: A story

"And what’s wrong with that?" Elliana asked, catching everyone off-guard, especially Sebastian who thought she would lash off at him for using such a disgusting method.

"What did you say?" Neil asked, horrified.

Elliana turned to him and smiled before walking towards the secretary.

"Princess-" Lucas immediately stepped ahead, alert, but Sebastian raised his hand, making Lucas freeze in his place.

Lucas bowed before taking his original place.

"I said what you heard. Would you like to hear a story?" Elliana asked.

Neil’s expression immediately turned cold.

’Would you like to hear a story?’ This was the same sentence that Prince Harrison used to say whenever he used to do something mischievous or illegal.

Neil looked at the girl.

Right. Why was he surprised by this girl’s decision and words? Wasn’t she the same person who killed Prince Harrison and destroyed their year’s worth of hard work?

"What can I -"

"That’s not the answer to my question, Neil. Let me ask you again. Would you like to hear a story?" Elliana asked, keeping her emotions in check.

Neil gritted his teeth before nodding.

Sebastian waved his hand at his people who immediately nodded and left the cell, keeping guard outside.

"So one day, an innocent princess who was married to the most dangerous Vampire Prince went to meet his family. It was during the annual party where she was supposed to be announced as his bride. However, she fainted and things didn’t work out.

After meeting the family in the dining room, she was going to her room since her husband was going to a meeting when a monster stopped her," Elliana started the story.

Sebastian’s fists clenched when he realized she was talking about the night she killed Prince Harrison.

"She had actually reached the room, but the man forced his way into her room. At that time she didn’t know she was a witch. For a girl who thought she was human, just imagine how terrifying it had been when a drunk vampire forced his way into her room?" Elliana held Neil’s jaws, pinching them.

"Can you picture it?" Elliana asked, barely keeping her anger down.

Neil nodded with difficulty.

"That man wanted to bed her because he was jealous of her husband. He grabbed her neck, like this-" Elliana gripped Neil’s neck.

"And then slammed her into the wall, like this," Elliana slammed him into the wall, her eyes brimming with tears.

Sebastian wanted to step ahead when he noticed his wife was becoming sad, but he also knew that she wouldn’t fancy it.

Just like there was a beast inside her, she was battling demons too.

"And then he looked straight into her eyes. That girl was really a coward. She was scared to her wits that night. She wanted someone to come and protect her. Every vampire in the royal family told her she was safe, but was she?" Elliana asked.

Sebastian felt ashamed.

He couldn’t even imagine how scary it must’ve been for her. He never got the chance to sit with her and ask what exactly happened that night and comfort her. From the moment he heard the truth, things were going downhill.

"That girl cried. And she would’ve let that monster go," Elliana said, a tear rolling down her cheeks.

"But did you know why she killed him that night? Because right before leaving, that monster asked her if she would like to hear a story. And that story consists of his past with her husband, but do you know what hurt that girl the most?

That monster confessed that he was the one who got her husband’s mother caught by the humans, resulting in that horrifying thing that happened to his mother," Elliana’s words shocked Sebastian.

He froze in his place.

"W-what did you say?" Sebastian asked, his beast immediately reacting.

"And that monster said no one would believe the Princess even if she told this truth to everyone. That’s why she had to take things in her hands," Elliana continued her story.

"Do you know how she killed him?" Elliana hissed before she let go of his neck and stepped back.

She smiled. Since she couldn’t express her anger and rage, her emotions were turning maniacal, and even Sebastian could see it.

Elliana waved her hand in the air, and a screen-like thing appeared in the dimly lit dungeon cell.

Neil’s eyes widened when he saw Prince Harrison struggling and screaming at the top of his lungs but no voice came out. He saw how Elliana cut his hand and burnt him in a clean flame, leaving no soot or smell.

Neil’s heart thumped loudly.

Sebastian looked at his wife, unsure what to say when he saw the scene.

She took his revenge even when he had nothing but doubt for her? Even when he was thinking of using her all the time and leaving her once he got the crown? She did so much and risked her life with Prince Harrison even when he didn’t give her anything apart from tears? Guilt took over his heart.

Sebastian’s eyes brimmed with tears.

"That girl killed him like this. Now just imagine, if that girl can kill a person who got her husband’s mother killed, what will she do to a person who tried to ruin the lives of so many people?" Elliana asked, looking straight into Neil’s eyes.

"Y-you are a monster," Neil stuttered in fear.

Elliana smiled.

"I am not a monster, Neil. I am a hunter. A hunter who hunts evil monsters and gives them death sentences. Would you like to see a demo?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian immediately used his Vampire speed to get a hold of her.

He didn’t want her to dirty her hands and kill a lowlife like Neil herself.

"Don’t worry about it, Princess. I will handle this matter," Sebastian whispered, but Elliana shook her head.

"I don’t want you to always be the bad person. You said it’s us against the world. Let me be a part of it," Elliana said.

Sebastian pressed his lips into a thin line.

"And how do you plan on becoming a part of it?" Sebastian asked.

Elliana smiled, her smile not reaching her eyes.

"Mr. Ambrose," Elliana raised her voice, and the man in question immediately rushed inside, the jar of maggots still in his hand.

"Give that Jar to me," Elliana said.

Ambrose looked at Sebastian, unsure if he should do it.

When Ambrose didn’t listen to her, Elliana rolled her eyes and clicked her fingers, making the Jar disappear from his hands, making the man stumble back in surprise.

"Why are you wasting a free meal, Mr. Marino?" Elliana said before she clicked her hands again and an empty Jar appeared in front of her.

"Just his heart. I want it for experimental purposes. You can drink his blood and replenish your energies. It will help you heal faster too after the battle," Elliana was thinking logically, and Neil’s eyes widened at her disgusted talk.

"N-no. No! I... I am ready to tell you everything. Please don’t do anything. Don’t torture me like this," Neil said, making Elliana smile.

Sebastian sighed when he saw her satisfactory smile.

Now he understood her plans.

She wasn’t planning on killing him so early either way. She just wanted to instill the fear deep into his bones so he would start telling the truth.

It was 80% mental torture and 20% physical torture.

"Remind me to never get on your bad terms," Sebastian whispered to his wife.

"I will be in the Sirens’ cell. I have some questions for them," Elliana whispered and Sebastian nodded.

"Speak," Sebastian said.

"It was the time right after Prince Harrison’s death when a witch approached me and told me she would tell me who killed the Prince. She wanted me to follow her to a place to meet her partner in crime," The man started.

Seeing how the man started speaking the truth, Elliana turned around and was about to leave when they heard a loud thunderclap and a burst.

"What the -" Lucas was the first one to shout.

The prisoners in front of the cell screamed in horror, freezing Elliana in her place.

She was scared to turn around and see what exactly happened. The scent of blood was too thick in the air.
