Chapter 538: A poisonous absorption
"What are you doing?" Circe asked Elliana when they saw her trying to touch the concentrated liquid that might burn her finger.
Elliana’s eyes were neutral, but her vibes changed completely. She didn’t look like the same innocent girl who didn’t know anything about magic, and neither did she look like Azura’s daughter who was learning things slowly.
She looked like...
Circe gulped, unsure if what they saw was true.
"Magna absorbieren," Elliana whispered as soon as she touched the liquid.
The bioluminescence of the liquid immediately transferred to her nails before going into her veins, making her blue veins shine brightly.
The veins kept shining for a few seconds before they stopped, the luminous manga dissolving into her blood.
"It works," Elliana said, a smile appearing on her face.
Circe gulped again.
Yes. Now that they looked at this girl carefully... Why did she look like she was taking after her grandmother? Rebecca Teresa, one of the greatest witches of all time was known for special techniques of building Magna.
No one ever found out how she was able to collect so much Magna at such a young age to surpass everyone and become the witch queen of her time.
Elliana placed her hand on the manual before clicking her fingers to jot down all the information she collected so far.
She looked at the liquid containers before she sat on a stool. Now that she found the hidden secret to create this luminous power-emanating liquid, she didn’t need the sand of the beach anymore.
Elliana opened the container and looked at the glittering sand before pouring it over the spilled liquid, making it wet and shine even more.
She placed her bare foot on the sand and used a locator spell before closing her eyes.
Her brows knitted together when she felt herself traveling in her head space.
’Hahaha... Do you think you are all that? I will win no matter what,’
*Snap*
’Go to Arizona and do my work,’
*Snap*
’I will get my hands on Azura’s daughter,’
*Snap*
Different images started flashing across her head, the next one more vivid than the previous one.
Elliana drew her brows together and tried to look more clearly. She wanted to see the face of the person behind all the games. Just one look would be enough.
Elliana clenched her hands when she felt turmoil in her energies because of her digging into something otherworldly and trying to find a witch much more powerful than her.
As she tried to look further, walking through some kind of maze of images, Elliana froze in her place when she saw a lady dressed in an enchanting white gown, standing with her back to her.
She stepped ahead in her mind space.
’You are the one who wants to look for me, right? I am here. What do you want from me? I know this is some kind of revenge you are trying here. Why do you want to hurt your family?’ Elliana tried to ask the questions from the person, her gaze shifting to the sunset that they both were facing.
’Are you talking to me?’ The lady whispered, her voice screaming menace.
’So you have finally found me,’ The woman said again.
’But are you sure you played your cards right? There was no mistake? Have you found me, or was it the other way around?’
Elliana squinted her eyes to see the face of the person as she started to turn around slowly.
*Rrrinnnng* *Rrrinnng*
Elliana snapped out of her magic with a jerk because of the disturbance from her ringing phone, falling on the ground from the stool.
"Sh*t," She cursed out loud when she saw one of the glass containers that fell earlier, piercing her skin.
"Damn it!" Elliana cursed again.
She was this close to seeing the face of the person who had been trying to torment her for so long and wanted her dead. But this phone call ruined everything!
She stood and placed her hand under the running tap after taking out the glass share.
Seeing the wound healing slowly, Elliana sighed and grabbed her phone, looking at the number with furrowed brows.
"Hello?" Elliana said.
Nothing.
Silence.
No one said anything from the other side.
"Who is-" Elliana paused, her heart thumping loudly for some unknown reason.
This wasn’t possible. There was no way the lady would be able to know that she was trying to put the locator spell, right?
"You are the lady," Elliana tried her luck with her eyes closed to see if she guessed it right.
"I can hear your fast heartbeat. Do I scare you, little girl?"
Elliana took a deep breath before leaning on the counter to keep her balance, her gaze falling on her hand that was pierced with the glass shard.
Her pupils dilated when she saw her wounds turning black, and her blood that was pouring out of the wound turning green. It wasn’t just any normal green either.
Elliana’s breath stuck in her throat.
This... Why did this look like the bioluminescence that she absorbed a couple of seconds ago?
"Absorbing my powers wasn’t really a good idea now, was it? Has your mother not taught you anything, little girl? You absorb powers that make you strong. You don’t absorb poison," the lady said again, her last sentence barely a serpent’s hiss.
"W-who are you?" Elliana stuttered, her heart clenching painfully at the pressure of this lady’s voice.
She didn’t want to appear weak, but for some reason, this was an energy she never felt before. It was almost like she would suffocate from this aura.
"Me? Why are you so curious about me?" The lady paused before chuckling.
It was a dark humorless chuckle full of negative energy.
"Don’t try to focus on something you can’t afford to mess with. There’s a reason your mother still hasn’t told you about who I am. Sometimes, it’s good to listen to your elders. We won’t want to sacrifice the little life inside you, no? I mean, I have an occasion ready for that. Don’t rush into things. I will find you myself. I am your worst nightmare, little girl. Don’t try to find me," The lady said before ending the call.
As soon as the call ended, Elliana stumbled back, finally taking deep breaths.
This... This wasn’t good.
Circe looked at their human counterpart with a concerned expression.
"Are you okay, Elliana?" They asked, and Elliana nodded before scratching her neck.
"Don’t do that. It will ease with time. You will make it bleed. That’s what that woman wants," Circe said and Elliana nodded before taking deep breaths and looking at her phone.
No number registered.
It was a magical call probably. She bit her lips before looking at her green blood on the ground.
Did she say poison?
Elliana nodded at herself.
She wasn’t going to give up so easily. If that woman thrives on poison, she would become a poison even stronger than hers to nullify it. Elliana clenched her fists.
