Chapter 500: Glow’s pain

Chapter 500: Glow’s pain

In the Moon City forests, Glow stopped the bike and looked at their boss who had been quiet since earlier.

"Boss," Sasha spoke to catch Elliana’s attention, but rather than talking to them, Elliana got down from the bike and started walking in a random direction.

Glow wanted to follow her, but Marcello held her hand.

"Let her be alone for some time," Marcello whispered as he looked at the back of the girl who was walking mindlessly.

It was still hard for him to believe that she was a dark witch. She has always been so sweet to everyone, and her character was way off from what they heard about the species.

Everyone looked at each other, unsure of what to say or do.

Their Boss’s identity wasn’t the only thing they were surprised about, it was Glow’s too.

Glow was Queen Freya’s daughter? They had been living with royalty without knowing about it?

Glow turned around and left in another direction, her mind going back to her mother’s expression when she saw her.

She slid down a random tree and closed her eyes.

All those times when she had felt unseen, unloved, a burden, a commodity, a disabled useless furniture in her own house because she couldn’t speak, everything came back to her in waves of sad memories.

A tear slid down her eyes as she shook her head helplessly.

"Aaaaaaaaa!" She screamed, clenching her chest, trying to ease the anger in her heart.

How dare they... How dare they act like they loved her or cared about her when all her life, they couldn’t even bother to sit with her and ask her what was wrong with her?

How many times she was hurt in her palace that she was supposed to be a princess of?

She still remembered how the maids used to lock her inside the rooms at night and act like it wasn’t their fault and blame it on why she didn’t make a noise.

She couldn’t speak, and she couldn’t walk properly, was it her fault she was born this way? But they always acted like it was a sin she committed by being born into the Royal family as a cripple.

"Glow," Marcello placed his hand on her shoulders, and her lower lips whimpered as she sobbed, all those memories she buried inside her heart surfacing like a trigger that was pulled.

Her mother, her hypocritical mother, wanted to blame her even after everything she suffered.

Why didn’t she contact them? Glow scoffed.

Did they ever try to find their daughter or try to know what happened to her after that so-called disabled care center was burnt to ashes?

Glow grabbed her hair in her fists in frustration.

She tried so hard to stay away from those people. That was the reason when she saw the princes were somehow taking interest in her boss, she used to leave every time.

Whether it was Vincenzo visiting the princess, or if it was Sebastian, she used to run away, spray the scent-hiding chemical on herself, and leave so no one would know about her.

She knew that she would have to face them soon, but she had never thought that she would receive this kind of reaction from her mother.

That night... That night when they had come to drop her off at the disabled care center, she had cried so much. She only wanted to be accepted by them.

She learned everything. Even when she had difficulty walking occasionally and people called her a cripple for them and couldn’t speak, she learned horse riding, she learned using swords and mastered them the best.

Even though she used to bleed at night, she used to train for 14 hours a day just in hopes that her family would stop seeing her as a disabled person who needed special attention.

She didn’t need any special attention, she just wanted them to hear her out. Even if she wasn’t able to speak, she wanted them to see her hands and have enough time to ask her if she was uncomfortable anywhere.

Was love that pricey? Wasn’t it supposed to be free when coming from her own parents? But then, she wasn’t their only daughter, no? After Angelo and Santo were born, it was almost like she was invisible to their eyes.

Was it really that bad that she threw a tantrum when they went to attend Angelo’s function when she was dancing at a function for the first time? That they always choose others over her?

There were only two people who respected her enough and that was Prince Stephano and Prince Sebastian.

However, Prince Stephano changed. In his anger and revenge plans to send Sebastian away, he started plotting.

She could see it all. Everything was happening right in front of her and she wanted to defend Sebastian that night when he was only a child, but who was going to listen to the words of a mute girl when everyone was raging?

Her life already changed drastically after Sebastian was thrown out of the palace because she lost her only friend at that time, but after they threw her out to that care center, she lost all hope in her family or love and compassion.

She didn’t know if that was really a curse or a boon that the caretaker wanted to kill them and Elliana found them because since then, they haven’t been the same. Things haven’t been the same. They learned what love felt like, and looked like.

They found a home in her and they intended to keep that home forever, even if that would mean they would have to take Elliana away from here, away from those royals who would hurt her and would only want to use her.

Glow wiped her tears and stood from her place.

"Where are you going?" Marcello asked Glow, who suddenly stood with a resolution in her eyes.

"I will take her away. She won’t stay at a place where her identity isn’t respected. She accepted us however we are and we accept her the way she is. That’s it. She doesn’t need anyone else. We are more than enough for her," Glow signed to Marcello and sighed.

Before Glow could take another step forward, Marcello held her hand and hugged her from behind.

"Don’t interfere in something you don’t know, Glow. You weren’t at that place. I was there. The way Prince Sebastian looks at her isn’t normal. It’s like he is obsessed with her. Like he would kill anyone who would take her away from her.

You didn’t see how he lost his mind when she couldn’t be found. So you better not come between them. I bet you will see them together within three days," Marcello said.

"So what? Do you want me to just stay here and do nothing while my boss is hurt?" Glow signed, and Marcello sighed.

"No. I want you to stop thinking about something that you shouldn’t interfere with. What I want you to think about is healing. Do you think I don’t see your pain? I can see it, love. I know it hurts, but you can’t keep hurting," Marcello said.

Glow looked away.

"Let’s get married," He said out of the blue, and Glow turned to him with wide eyes, not able to hide the shock on her face.

"I am serious. Let’s get married. After seeing your brother and Elliana, I figured getting out of a marriage is troublesome and hard. And if this is the only way I can keep you with me, I want to do it," Marcello sat on his knees and looked at her.

"Marry me," Marcello opened the ring box, and Glow looked at the ring wide-eyed.

It was the same red sapphire ring that Glow had shown interest in a month ago when they were following Elliana but had lost her trail.

"Isn’t that supposed to be a question? Will you marry me, Glow?" They heard a voice and turned towards Elliana, who was standing at some distance, and Glow’s eyes immediately quivered when she saw the violet color of their boss’s eyes.

"Do you think I would be able to think of anything when my girls are in pain?" Elliana asked before leaning on one of the trees, doing what she was best at. Hiding her pain behind her smiles.

"Are you -"

"He is waiting for your answer," Elliana whispered before Glow could complete her sign and Glow sighed.

She looked at Elliana as if asking for moral support.

Marcello turned to her in hopes that she would give Glow the blessings the lady was looking for in her.

"Well, if I were you, I wouldn’t say yes," Elliana said, and Marcello looked at her, troubled.

Glow looked at Marcello, a hint of doubt appearing on her face, immediately worrying the man.

"Are you taking some kind of revenge on me? Because I told everyone your plans?" Marcello asked.

"You have become quite intelligent with me, no?" Elliana asked with a smile before nodding at Glow, who immediately signed a yes.

"Doesn’t this call for a flower rain?" Elliana clicked her fingers and it started raining flower petals instead of water droplets and Glow looked in the sky amazingly.

Elliana smiled at the girl, but her smile was cut short when she felt one presence she didn’t want with her people.

"You guys celebrate. I have to talk to someone," Elliana warned everyone with her eyes to not follow her, and they looked at her warily, letting her leave nonetheless.

Elliana walked to some distance before looking behind one of the trees.

"You did a good job leaving him as I told you. Now are you ready to see your father?" the person said, and Elliana’s eyes brimmed with tears.
