Chapter 48: Dexter and Elliana’s history

"What are you doing?" Alcinder was the first to voice out, and his gaze fell on her elbow, which had a slight scratch, while Dexter stood beside her with some leaves in his hand that he was about to apply to her wound.

"I... It’s his fault, I swear. He offered to cook me some noodles, and being the chivalrous girl I am, I couldn’t break his heart by letting him down," Elliana blinked before taking a mouthful of noodles again.

"Anndd...itzzzz good," She said, and Alcinder thinned his lips before looking at Daniel.

His expression was clear - ’Is this the same girl we were looking for and becoming worried about?’

"For someone who got kidnapped, you really have lots of guts," Daniel walked to her, his gaze flickering to the scratch on her hand, and his nose flared.

"Step back if you can’t control yourself, Daniel," Dexter said, mentioning Daniel’s fangs that were starting to show because of Elliana’s blood before he bent towards Elliana and gently applied the herbs on her wounds so that it would stop bleeding, and would eliminate the scent of blood too.

"Your earlier actions are quite contradicting, Dexter. What did you want from her?" Samantha asked, and Daniel looked at Elliana with a sigh.

A few minutes ago ~~~~

"I had no idea you were a vampire. You hid it quite nicely," Elliana said, and Dexter looked into her eyes for a few seconds. His fangs retreated, and he sighed, sitting beside her before pulling her up.

"You should know why I had to hide and act like a human. Are you seriously not going to tell me?" Dexter asked, and Elliana half-turned towards him, blinking at him innocently as if she had no idea what he was talking about.

However, when Dexter’s gaze didn’t waver, she pursed her lips before sighing with a smile.

"What do you want to hear, Dexter? I don’t think there is anything that you haven’t been able to figure out yet," Elliana said.

"So, does that mean what I am thinking is true? My suspicions about you being her are right?" Dexter asked to confirm, and Elliana smiled before huffing vaguely.

"It depends on who you are suspecting me to be," Elliana said.

"For god’s sake, will you tell the truth? You are Glory, aren’t you?" Dexter asked, and Elliana hummed.

"I am. What are you going to do about it?" Elliana asked, and Dexter ruffled his hair angrily.

"What am I going to do about it? Do you have any f*cking idea how much I wanted to see the real you? How can you act like it isn’t a big deal when it is?" Dexter asked before taking a deep breath.

"Okay, I am sure your real name isn’t exactly Glory. So tell me, what’s your name?" Dexter asked.

"Who knows?" Elliana chuckled before standing.

"Fine. I will find your name sooner or later. Would you like to eat some noodles?" Dexter asked, and Elliana looked at him excitedly, making his heart skip a beat.

How can she be this cute?

"I didn’t know there was such a cute girl behind that rude mask," Dexter commented as he cooked two-minute noodles for her, adding his special ingredients.

He didn’t want to tell her, but it was actually her that he learned cooking for.

He wanted to invite her to this place and make it her happy escape from reality.

Elliana gazed at all the paintings around in awe.

There were so many that she wasn’t even able to see because of the angle of the corridor. She wanted to see them.

However, as soon as she stood, she lost her footing and fell back, her hand grazing on the side of the vase placed on the table.

The vase fell on the carpet, and Elliana looked at the vase, heaving a sigh of relief.

"I almost had my heart in my mouth. Thank god it’s safe," Elliana looked at Dexter, who looked at her before shaking his head.

"Stupid girl, you are more worried about the vase?" Dexter asked before he gave the noodles to Elliana and brought some herbs from his garden above the farmhouse.

"Now, sit straight. Let me apply it on your wounds," Dexter sighed.

Present ~~~~~~

Samantha gazed at the girl who was busy eating noodles and couldn’t help but sigh. She noticed Elliana’s hair was pulled back with a clip that wasn’t there earlier. It was clear that Dexter gave it to her, probably so she could eat in peace.

Her nose and the area under her lower lip were glistening with sweat as she made hissing sounds because of the spices. Elliana’s amber eyes were bright, and there was no glint of fear in them.

She looked like she was dining at an old friend’s house. The more time Samantha spent knowing Elliana, the more mysterious this human looked.

The first time she met her, she was all innocent and shy and with a little bit of attitude towards Alcinder. It was so contradictory to when she saw her at the beginning of the race track that Samantha couldn’t believe she was the same human.

And then at the end of the race track.

Samantha kept gazing at Elliana, who sat there, looking completely oblivious to what was going on around her. It was as if she wasn’t the protagonist of this situation and some onlooker.

The way Elliana slurped the noodles like it was the best thing in the world intrigued Samantha, and she walked to Elliana before taking the fork from her hand and tasting the noodles from the same bowl.

"Seriously, Samantha?" Alcinder looked at Samantha, and the latter shrugged.

"What can I say? She is eating so well. I couldn’t resist. They are indeed good," Samantha said before taking another bite.

"That girl is a foodie. Stop justifying her," Alcinder groaned at the two girls, who were chillin like there was no problem with this situation.

"Will you stay for some time? I can take you on a ride down the path near the lake. It’s beautiful," Dexter ignored the three people and talked to Elliana, and she looked at the clock before pursing her lips.

"I wish I could’ve stayed. My university time will be over soon, and the chauffeur will come on time," Elliana said, and Dexter’s pupils dilated.

"So you are studying at a university now?" He bent and wiped her lips with his thumb, making Elliana scowl as she swatted his hand away playfully.

Samantha looked at the guy acting like he was Elliana’s lover before her gaze moved to Daniel, who didn’t have a good expression, and Alcinder, who was just scowling.

"Don’t get any ideas, Dexter. I am not meeting you outside," Elliana slurped the spicy broth of the noodles before standing from her place.

"You can’t do this to me. You and I both know how much I like being with you. Why are you doing this?" Dexter asked, and Elliana smiled at him.

"I know, right? Why am I doing this?" She blinked her eyes at him innocently, and Dexter held her elbow, jerking her forward, their bodies almost touching.

He glared at her, but Elliana’s gaze didn’t waver.

"It’s the International University of Science and Business Administration," Elliana sighed and looked into Dexter’s eyes with a smirk, who sighed before chuckling.

He looked down at his feet before ruffling his hair.

"Do you seriously sleep well at night by annoying people around you?" Dexter’s eyes shone slightly, and Elliana grinned before nodding like it was the best thing.

"So is anyone going to explain why this finance minister’s son is actually so frank with this human girl we met a couple of days ago? Did you guys know each other before that?" Daniel asked.

He couldn’t take their natural conversation that was flowing so smoothly. How can Dexter be so smooth and talk to her like she was her buddy when he struggled to be this carefree with her because she was a human and he was afraid he might end up hurting her.

"You are a minister’s son?" Elliana raised her brows at Dexter, who scratched the back of his head boyishly.

"Did you think I was joking when I said I can keep you happy for the rest of your life if you come with me?" Dexter’s gaze turned intense.

He meant every word he said, and Elliana’s heart skipped a beat because of how lucky she was to have gotten a friend like him.

Dexter sighed before he turned to the people who were waiting for his answer.

"It’s true. I knew this human before today. This isn’t the first time she has arrived here. And this is definitely not the first time she won a race here. However, the times she used to come before today, she was always dressed in black with no inch of skin visible to the naked eye," Dexter said, and Elliana walked around the house, observing everything as if she was in some museum.

"I had always been infatuated with her and proposed to her a friendship. Even though she is a human, the time I spent with her in the past is more acceptable than all the vampire parties I attended. She is the reason I built this farmhouse here," Dexter looked at Elliana, who half turned to him with a smile.

"You flatter me," Elliana commented, and Dexter rolled his eyes, knowing all too well how cunning she was.

He sighed before continuing.

"Her visits here weren’t scheduled. Sometimes she would come twice a month, sometimes thrice a week, and sometimes she didn’t come for a month. I asked the manager to let me know whenever she is around so that I can enjoy some free time with her and talk to her," Dexter raked his hand through his hair before sighing and sitting on the couch.

"I am actually sorry for kidnapping her earlier. It’s been a year since I met her today. I was observing this girl’s riding skills, and when the feeling of deja vu was too much to ignore, I decided to approach her. Who would’ve known she was the girl I had been looking for a year," Dexter scowled.

"In my defense, I was somewhere I couldn’t come from," Elliana added, and Daniel looked at the girl, who was becoming more mysterious.

"You recognize her just by her voice?" Samantha asked, and Dexter smiled.

"Her voice and the way she denied telling me her name. The dialogue was quite the same as she uses all the time. She uses a fake name, and even after three years I am still oblivious to her actual name. It’s both funny and downright annoying," Dexter turned to Daniel.

"You are also a regular here, no? You joined two years ago, right? I am not sure if you participated in the races at the time when she was around. So you might not remember her," Dexter said before he picked up the bowl Elliana ate in and placed it in the washing basin.

"How could I let her go today? It took me a year to finally meet her and two years earlier to get her to speak to me," Dexter looked at Elliana, who smiled.

"Now that I look at her face, I think the saying that looks can deceive is true. She looks so innocent that no one can easily guess how mischievous and naughty she is. Look at her, still hiding her name from me after three years," Dexter walked to Elliana before giving her a chocolate that she immediately took.

"So, apart from being filthy rich and an influential vampire, what are you?" Elliana stood in front of a painting, and her pupils dilated.

"Is that me?" Elliana asked, her eyes wide as she hadn’t expected him to draw her.
