Chapter 477: A song from bottom of heart
"Elliana, honestly, you still haven’t stated a clear reason why you are leaving. Is there nothing we can do to help?" Samantha asked, a sad expression on her face as they sat around a round table in the VIP rooms of one of the famous restaurants.
Elliana dabbed her lips softly before raising her gaze.
"I am afraid nothing can be done. All the matters are discussed by my guardian and -" She started speaking, but Melony interrupted her from speaking further.
"But aren’t you already eighteen? You literally have the right to deny his orders. If it’s about staying, you are always welcome to stay at my place," Melony said, and Elliana looked into the girl’s eyes.
She had yet to ask this so-called friend of hers how the hell she managed to get her hands on such vile drinks for witches, and who asked her to give that drink to her.
However, it wasn’t the right time. She wasn’t ready to hear any more truth about anything that would break her heart than it already was. She didn’t want to ruin this image of friendship right before leaving.
"It’s not about that. I don’t think I am in any position to deny it. Anyway, let’s not talk about that. We are here to celebrate the end of our exams. I would prefer carrying some good memories rather than sad tears," Elliana smiled cheerfully, and Alcinder who hadn’t said anything since she came kept looking at her before he averted his gaze to the plate and took a bite of his dish.
It tasted stale. He didn’t like it. Maybe because he wasn’t really in the mood to eat anything.
He raised his gaze back to Elliana, caught off guard, when his gaze met directly with hers, and she looked at him with a quirked brow.
"Don’t tell me you will miss my taunting," Elliana wriggled her brows, making the man look away.
He didn’t deny it.
Samantha could see it too. Elliana was probably right.
Maybe it was because he got too attached to the human?
Was it because she was the first girl who actually looked him in the eye and made fun of him, irrespective of his status, someone who made him feel like a human too and not a council head’s son, that he had that kind of attachment to her?
"Stupid girl," Alcinder murmured after a few seconds, and Elliana’s smile froze before she pushed herself to stretch her lips into a pretentious smile again.
She blinked the tears in her eyes that immediately appeared.
’Stupid Princess,’
’Stupid girl,’
’What am I going to do with you, stupid Princess?’
The words Mr. Marino used to say to her out of pure amusement and care for her reverberated in her ears, and she grabbed a glass of water before drowning it without caring who it belonged to.
"Hey, that was mine!" Daniel complained with his nose scrunched and Elliana looked at him awkwardly.
"You can get another one. Cut it, Daniel. Shouldn’t you feel lucky that you guys indirectly kissed?" Melony chuckled and Daniel blushed hard while Dexter scoffed mentally.
Look at these high-class vampires acting all childish in front of a human. Wait. She wasn’t a human anymore. She was a dark witch. Dexter looked at the side of Elliana’s face.
It was still hard to believe how such an innocent-looking girl belonged to such an evil species.
If he hadn’t known Elliana for so long, he would’ve thought that this innocent facade was part of her being a dark witch and that she wanted to fool everyone with her looks.
"Can I sing a song for you guys?" Elliana asked out of the blue, and Samantha immediately clapped her hands.
"That would be so amazing! It feels like ages since we heard your voice," She immediately stood excited, ready to make space for the girl.
"What are you doing? Help me shift the table," Samantha looked at Alcinder, who was too dazed, and the guy immediately nodded.
"Step away, Samantha. We will do it. Daniel, Dexter, Drake," Alcinder looked at the boys who immediately stood and helped him shift the table to the corner of the room.
Elliana chuckled awkwardly. She just wanted to sing a little to put her heart at ease. Why were they making it look like she was having some kind of concert?
Elliana sighed. She remembered Nathaniel telling her not to sing too much because that would bring out her powers, but if those were the consequences of putting her heart at ease, then so be it.
It wasn’t like she was going to keep her secret anymore.
Elliana walked to the middle of the room while her friends sat in the corner in an arc shape.
Elliana closed her eyes, feeling the pain in her heart that she had been suppressing, and started...
’Oh, ooohhhh,
I tear myself, for your happiness,
I am wide shattered, for your success.
I tear myself up until I hear my screams.
I drown myself till it’s hard to breathe,
But for you, I do it all.... I keep doing it.
I wouldn’t have cared, if you had walked away.
But you cheated, you cheated and betrayed,
You broke the glass castle I made for you,
Your touches burn my skin now
All the sweetest words bleed my ears,
And love looks like torture.
Ooohhhhh,’ Elliana sang, her tears flowing from her eyes as she hit the high note, putting her heart into her singing.
’Yeahhhhh,
Save me, miss me, only love,
Only your love hurt like this, only love can save me from this,
Don’t blame me, your love made me crazy,
I’ve been breaking hearts for a long time,
But for you, I changed,
I tamed, I got framed, but I put a clean sheet on your name,
For you, I never crossed my line,
But this time you went too far,
Lord save you, love makes me crazy,’ Elliana stopped singing, breathing heavily.
Everyone was shocked to hear her painful singing that looked like she was asking for help like she was asking for someone to come and save her.
She looked at her friends before smiling and wiping her cheeks.
"Sorry, I got carried away," She whispered, her gaze settling at Dexter, who kind of knew what was going on with her, and shrugged softly, while the man kept looking at her with his hands clenched by his side.
He didn’t know how to describe what he felt at the moment. It felt like he was teleported to some other dimension that only had pain, and his heart squeezed painfully with every drop of tear that rolled down her eyes.
"It was amazing," Melony was the first one to break from her trance, and Elliana bowed.
"I am glad -" she couldn’t complete her sentence as she felt like her throat was grabbed by something from inside her, rendering her unable to speak or breathe.
In the Creta regions, Nathaniel, who was having an argument with Azura about Elliana’s next plans, froze in his place when his powers alerted him.
"What is it?" Azura asked when she saw his shocked look.
The lady knew that Nathaniel had made a connection with her daughter’s powers long ago, and thus when there is turbulence in her powers, he is the first one to know.
"I am asking a question, Nath! What happened?" Azura shook Nathaniel who gulped before shaking his head.
"She...she is singing," Nathaniel said, her powers channeling her pain to his powers and he gasped before falling to his knees.
He looked at Azura, his eyes moist as if pleading for help and the dark witch immediately rushed to the table before bringing a glass of liquid herbs and giving it to Nathaniel.
"You are so stupid, Nath. I can’t believe you. Why would you increase the connection between your powers? Have you lost your mind? You and my daughter are not at the same level. She is far more powerful. What were you thinking when you did that? You might be my stepson, but I can’t lose you either. You stupid hybrid!" Azura started ranting, and Nathaniel chuckled at the dark witch who was pacing around him while he leaned his back on the wall and drank the witch’s herbs.
She was clearly concerned for him and her daughter but didn’t know how to put it properly.
"Nothing will happen to me. Don’t worry. Right now isn’t the time to worry about these things. Elliana is singing. This is not great. The sirens are already roaming the vampire kingdom in the disguise of vampires because they want to find their queen and the human who was bestowed with the queen’s powers. We need to leave immediately," Nathaniel whispered as he tried to stand, but Azura placed her hand on his shoulders.
"You stay here. You also need rest. Just because you gulped it doesn’t mean I didn’t feel it. A witch coughing blood is never good. It has weakened your immunity by two folds in a second. Who knows what will happen if you go there and your connection affects you again? I will go there," Azura said, and Nathaniel looked at her unsurely.
"But she -"
"She will have to accept me, Nathaniel. I am not letting my daughter hate me for the rest of my life. If she won’t, I will slap her hard enough to knock some sense into her," Azura smiled.
Nathaniel could see how much the dark witch was nervous herself, but he nodded nonetheless.
Maybe that’s what they both needed. Some time together away from everyone.
