The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 473: It was probably over

Chapter 473: It was probably over

’It’s not true. It’s not true. He is just lying. There is nothing like that. The man who tells me he cares for me and only me won’t betray me like this. God won’t be so hard on me,’ Elliana sat on the ground with her knees pulled close to her chest as she rocked herself back and forth.

’Please let it not be correct. Something is wrong with my ears. My ears aren’t working fine anymore. I am hearing it all wrong. Mr. Marino would never do anything to break my heart. He promised to never hurt me,’ Elliana whispered to herself, her mind going in denial of disbelief.

Her eyes brimmed with tears as she tried her best to not let them fall.

There was no meaning and use for them to fall when it wasn’t true. Mr. Marino won’t betray her, not after everything they have shared.

It wasn’t just something he said to her.

She has looked into his eyes, and he never faked any emotion. They were genuine. All the emotions they shared were genuine. Her heart felt everything.

"You will marry her? You will marry Brooklyn, sir? Have you lost your mind? What about our princess?" Lucas raised his voice, making Sebastian raise his brows.

The guards who were guarding the place and standing near the main doors, looked at the subordinate as if he had lost his mind and didn’t love his life anymore.

How could he raise his voice at the prince knowing all too well how bad it can go?

"What’s so shocking about this, Lucas? My marriage with the princess was a marriage of convenience. It will be useless to me once I get the crown," Sebastian said, every word leaving his mouth stabbing Elliana’s heart and she took a deep shaky breath as she tried to stand from her place.

She tried to hold the side of the wall and was leaning on, but her hand slid down as her legs gave up again.

"But sir... I thought you cared for her. All those emotions..." Lucas choked on his own words, unsure of what to say.

He didn’t know how to react anymore.

When the princess hears of it, what will she do? She will be so broken.

"And I never faked it. I still care about her. In fact, I have never cared for anyone, especially a human like I did for her, but how long do I need to pretend? No matter how hard we try, she can never be compatible with me. She is a human, Lucas. I need a strong female vampire to rule by my side. Brooklyn is the perfect girl for me," Sebastian said.

’A human. Not compatible. Brooklyn is perfect. It’s over,’ The words chanted in Elliana’s head like an ending poisonous chant that was making her ears bleed.

Lucas shook his head in pure disbelief.

"You- you are not my prince. The Sebastian Marino I know would never say things like this. Just a human, over, no..." Lucas shook his head in denial.

Sebastian looked at his subordinate who was going in denial, and sighed.

"I don’t know why you are reacting so much. You know this throne is important for me and nearly everything. Do you think I want to do it so willingly? If it hadn’t come down to votes, I wouldn’t have taken this step. Keep in mind, Lucas, I can do anything for the throne and I won’t have any insignificant thing come in between," Sebastian’s eyes turned dark, and Lucas clenched his jaws.

"Insignificant? Did you just call our princess insignificant? That’s not possible. She will not leave. If you don’t want her anymore. I will take her to my place. She is a princess, and will forever remain a princess in my heart. You can’t throw her away just because your agenda is completed," Lucas looked straight into his prince’s eyes.

"You stay true to your words, I will stay true to mine. I vowed my life and loyalty to her when she saved my life," Lucas stepped back from Sebastian, shaking his head in denial and the prince sighed.

"I don’t know why you are behaving like this, Lucas. Did you not know about this? It’s not like this would be the first time in the history of a vampire to have two wives. It’s true that once I marry Brooklyn, Princess’s status would lower to being a blood-wife since she is a human, but that’s okay. It’s not like I am betraying her. I promised to take care of her for eternity, and I will do that," Sebastian said, making Elliana whimper in the room.

She couldn’t control it anymore. Hot tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked at the lonely moon, her lips trembling.

She shut her eyes, clenching them tightly, hoping it would release some soreness that her body was feeling because of all the negative emotions tormenting her.

She wanted to scream. It wasn’t true. She was insignificant in his eyes. Mr. Marino wasn’t that -

Her hands clenched by her side.

What Mr. Marino was saying, was true too.

Did she not know that they were in a marriage of convenience? He would probably leave after he gets the crown since that was his only motivation behind marrying the human girl like his grandfather wanted.

She knew all about it.

But even after that, why did it hurt so much?

She didn’t want to, but this feeling of betrayal was gnawing at her heart again and again.

Why did she have to fall in love with a vampire out of all people? Elliana hated herself at the moment.

Not only was she helpless because she was a dark witch, but now he was talking about not wanting her because she wasn’t a compatible vampire either.

’Elliana, please get a hold of yourself. Your losing control of your emotion won’t end well,’ Circe warned Elliana, who was sobbing, trying to muffle her voice behind her fist.

’I... I am trying. I swear I am trying. But it hurts. It fucking hurts... mom... Elliana whispered, clenching her free hand on the carpet as she jerked her body forward to stand from her place.

Her heart called for her mom out of habit, but then she remembered that her mom was someone who would probably laugh at her miseries too and she sniffed loudly.

There was probably no one in this world who really needed her. Elliama scoffed at her changing destiny.

With great difficulty, she dragged her body towards the bedside before she dialed a number and waited for the person to pick up.

"Yo, what does our lady need at this time?" Marcello said joyously since they were done preparing all the orders even before time and Elliana gulped the saliva in her mouth before taking a deep shaky breath.

"M-Marcello, I want you to prepare a document for me without telling any of my girls. Will you be able to do it?" She asked, trying her best to keep her voice neutral even when it felt like her heart was being shredded from inside.

Marcello, who was with his men and was about to leave for celebration, stopped dead in his tracks when he heard her sad voice that sounded like she was barely keeping her crying in control.

"You guys go," He mouthed to his people before he turned around and walked inside the building.

"What happened, Elliana? Did someone hurt you?" Marcello asked, and a sob broke from her mouth before she sniffed, digging her nails in her palm to keep control.

"Will you be able to do it? I need the document by the day after tomorrow. I... I am leaving," Elliana whispered, making Marcello immediately stand.

The sound of the chair falling backward resounded in the empty building.

"What do you mean you are leaving? Leaving where? For how long? Does Glow know about it? Why am I only hearing about it now? No, I am not helping you with any documents -"

"Please, Marcello. I beg you," Elliana said, making the man immediately pause in his sentence.

He felt his eyes brimming with tears at the sadness in her voice.

This was the first time the prideful girl said the ’beg’ word even when she was just a human. He was the only one begging for her to create new things to hit the market.

Though he was one of the feared Dukes of the black market, he never considered himself anything when it came to her.

Hearing her say the word, it was as if someone plunged their hand into his chest and squeezed his heart.

He clenched his jaws tighter, unsure of what to say. He was ready to go and celebrate the night, but who would’ve thought he would get another reason to drink alcohol?

"It’s important to me," Elliana added when Marcello didn’t say anything.

"Mail me all the details," Marcello didn’t wait for any further words from her and ended the call.

The sound of the call ending snapped Elliana out of her thoughts and she looked at the phone, her mind going back to how Mr. Marino was the first one to buy a phone, a gift for her.

’I am glad I am your first,’ he had said at that time.
