The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 471: Weakening song

Chapter 471: Weakening song

’Hush!

Hush, I want you to breathe slowly. Feel the vibes in the air.

Like the ocean, how deep is your strength?

Kiss your spells goodbye, they will leave you in the meantime sadness. The weakest form you embrace. These powers don’t belong with you. So just let go,’

Elliana heard a faint song in her ears, and she moaned in her sleep before opening her eyes.

Twisting her head, she looked at the empty side of the bed and sighed.

Mr. Marino hadn’t returned.

’Tell me at what time did you leave? Your hands are so skinny that they fear me. The girl in the front is looking at you, and you can’t see the bones floating in the sky. There’s a reason you can’t see them. Would you like to know?’ She heard another song.

Her gaze instinctively moved toward the balcony where she saw a weird shadow.

"Who is there?" She asked.

’Circe, what is going on?’ Elliana asked her powers, but to her surprise, they didn’t respond. It almost felt like her powers were sleeping too and she didn’t like the vulnerable state that put her into.

Was she really hearing some kinds of words or was it just her imagination? Elliana gulped, her gaze not moving from the balcony.

It was hard to figure out if it was even a man or a woman. She moved her hand towards the nightstand to turn on the lamp, her gaze not moving from the figure.

As soon as she turned on the lamp, the figure disappeared and her heart thumped.

She closed the lamp warily with fear gripping her heart, and the figure appeared again.

Elliana shook her head and sighed.

Now that she looked carefully, it was just a tree’s shadow. Relief washed over her as she moved under the blanket to hide herself from all these shadows that were starting to scare her in Mr. Marino’s absence.

Meanwhile, the siren in the deep forest looked down at her hands, sighing in guilt.

Her heart ached for the girl who was oblivious to everything and everyone conspiring against her as she went to sleep again.

She dialed Natasha’s number and waited for the girl to pick up her phone.

As soon as she picked up the call, the siren ended the call and messaged the girl instead, remembering she was still in the royal vampire’s area.

"Inform everyone I won’t be home tonight. I have a few things to take care of," She typed before hitting the send button.

Once she ensured she gave Elliana her daily dose of weakening siren song spell, the siren turned around and jumped out of the large walls of the forest that came under Sebastian’s control.

She walked towards the market since she wanted to go towards the abandoned buildings to use her songs to create an invisible veil around her.

However, she had walked for a little distance only when her eyes widened as she saw the boy that roamed around with Elliana and had arrived at the moon city too.

The siren quickly rushed behind a random stall and smiled at the vendor, looking at the things, pretending to be interested.

She heaved a sigh of relief when Dexter left.

It was a close call. This was the third time she almost came in front of this boy.

The siren bought a shawl and wrapped it around her head, hiding more than half of her face as she rushed towards the buildings.

She knew she needed to hurry out of the place since she was losing her vigilance over the mute vampire facade slowly.

Dexter, who felt like someone was looking at him, turned around, his brows furrowed when he didn’t see anyone he knew or could be looking at him.

He shook his head before taking out his phone and looking at the message.

"What do you mean it’s not the best time to mess with her? Only she can mess with us and not the other way around. Are you taking her side because she promised you something?" The message said and Dexter sighed.

After Alcinder and the group heard from Elliana that she was planning on leaving, they had been messaging him continuously to make plans to mess with Elliana and do something that would stop her.

They had included all kinds of ideas starting from following her and finding who her guardian was, pretending to be terribly sick, to breaking her leg so that she would be rendered unable to move.

Dexter quickly opened his messenger and typed.

"I don’t think she is someone you can afford to mess with anymore,"

After sending the reply, Dexter walked to the local liquor shop and paid for his beer with a dejected sigh full of sadness and disgust for his condition.

This was one of the many days when his father thought it was a good idea to throw him out of the house to have the house to himself and his slut for good.

As much as he hated that new slut, he still preferred having a roof over his head. It was already bad with everything going on with Elliana and now this too.

Dexter scoffed, his gaze shifting to the abandoned buildings.

He could’ve called his friends, but apart from Elliana, he didn’t know if he could really trust anyone with his situation and condition.

He once tried to tell his friend about his family problem two years ago before he met Elliana, and it ended in that boy spreading the word everywhere, making him the bad boy with a bad reputation since he beat that guy for spreading his secret.

With Elliana, he never had to try too hard. Maybe it was because they had similar domestic abuse problems.

He didn’t even realize when he became so dependent on her. It started with a little inquisitive interaction but ended up as one of the best friendships of his lifetime.

And she didn’t come alone. This time she brought a package of good friends with her. Dexter started walking toward the abandoned building, his brows knitting together when he heard some weird singing from the inside of the building.

"Hmm?"

His legs froze in their place for a second.

Though he was confident in himself that he would be able to take down a few powerful vampires, he didn’t know if it was really a good idea to go inside the building and invite useless trouble his way.

He turned around, ready to walk when he heard the singing again. This time it was louder than before.

After taking a large chunk of his beer, he started walking towards the entrance of the building.

’As my body turns into vermilion oil,

Dreams can turn to Ash,

I heard the streets were empty and cold.

No one even knows how life was,

I finally found you,

No, my life isn’t transparent.

Hit me up and take me up, mix the sugar in the bitter-sour world.

Make it vanish and, finally, find me. Now sing it to me. Mmmmm,’

The siren, who was inside the building, sang with her eyes closed as she focussed on her magic, a smile appearing on her lips when she felt her magic engulfing her.

"Hello?" Dexter looked around with furrowed brows before he raised his gaze towards the third floor from where he saw a weird violet color glowing.

His hand instinctively reached his pocket to pull his dagger out as he used his vampire speed to rush to the area.

The siren, who was caught off guard, gasped, placing her palm on her own mouth to stop any noise as she looked at Dexter standing right in front of her.

Her gaze met with his angered ones and she gulped.

None of them said anything for a few seconds as the siren tried her best to keep her heartbeat in check. There is no way she can let the vampire in front of her know she was nervous or he would become even more suspicious.

"What is this? Am I too drunk?" Dexter sighed, looking at his bottle to see if he got the correct liquid.

He clearly saw some kind of violet glow here. Not finding anything, he shrugged and jumped down from the railing.

The siren didn’t breathe for another five seconds before she released an exasperated sigh, taking as much oxygen as she could.

If Dexter had seen her, not only her cover would’ve been exposed, she would’ve probably ended up dead.

While performing the veil spell and singing the song, the magic surrounding her, nullifies another spell for a minuscule second. But that second would’ve been enough for Dexter to identify her and shred the siren to pieces.

Even if he hadn’t been able to do so, he would’ve surely exposed her to get royals and she was in no position to take that kind of risk.

Once she saw Dexter going into another room, the siren left, promising herself to return for the weakening song again.
