Chapter 439: Identity crisis
Chapter 439: Identity crisis
The next day~~~
Nathaniel sat inside his cabin, looking at all the scripts and reports displayed in front of them with the help of the dean.
"Are you sure about it?" The dean asked, and Nathaniel hummed.
"I am. Rebecca Teresa Minerva, the previous queen of the witch world, I don’t think she is dead. According to what Azura said, the lady disappeared overnight and her body was never found. Even the witches that used to stay with her as her loyal maids disappeared overnight. Mysteriously, their bodies were found later on the hills in a very questionable condition,"
Nathaniel turned the pages of all the witch’s reports that were made about those maids who vanished and were found dead after a week.
"They were raped," The dean made a statement that froze Nathaniel in his place.
"Raped by the same gender," The dean said in a hushed whisper as if even he was having trouble believing it.
"What is written there? Give me the article. If the women were found dead, how exactly did they find out that they were raped? Females don’t have semen samples. What is the authenticity of this report?" Nathaniel walked to where Dean was standing and snatched the reports from his hand.
The dean looked at the prince who was working so hard for Elliana and pressed his lips into a thin line.
"Prince Nath, there was something I needed to talk to you about," The dean started.
"Not now, Dean. Can’t you see I am already buried in these loads of work?" Nath groaned before clicking his fingers to make a chair appear out of nowhere.
He sat on the chair as he started reading it, his brows furrowing at the weird sentences.
"Seriously, who was responsible for these reports? What the heck have they written here?" Nathaniel sighed at the contradictory sentences.
"It’s about Elliana," The dean said, and Nath looked at the man with raised brows before placing the reports down.
"What is it?" He asked.
"The thing is, I am not sure if you know this but Prince Sebastian has an optimistic relationship with the witch Madonna in comparison to other witches. He called the witch Madonna to ask for help with a few things," the dean said.
Nathaniel hummed. He did not like where this was going.
"And? Come straight to the point, will you?" Nathaniel asked, already irritated with what was happening around them.
"Apart from asking her about the human rogues and their current locations in the States, he also asked her if she could help him understand why so many dark witches were roaming around his wife," The dean said, hoping Nathaniel would understand the matter himself.
"And then witch Madonna met Elliana?" Nathaniel asked, already wondering the worst.
"No. She didn’t really meet her but saw her. She wanted to know how you were able to hide a witch’s scent to a level where even the most dangerous prince wasn’t able to find her true identity. What was so special about Elliana and who she truly was? And why was her identity so well protected," The dean said, and Nathaniel sighed.
"Well, as long as she isn’t making any wild accusations and threatening to reveal Elliana, I don’t think we should bother with her," Nathaniel said before reading the reports again.
He closed his eyes and massaged his forehead.
"Honestly, at this rate, I really wish Elliana could handle a few things herself. Don’t you think it’s too much work for you?" The dean asked.
Nathaniel smiled.
"It’s no problem. Regarding your wish, I would just say that you should wish that Elliana doesn’t start to handle these issues herself because it won’t be good for anyone. She has started to form the black flame," Nathaniel said.
"It’s not the matter of whether she is capable or not anymore. It’s the matter of, are we capable of handling her if she loses it?" Nathaniel scoffed.
Meanwhile, in the Black Skull Palace, Elliana sat at the dining table with a scowl on her face as her eyes showed the urgency she was feeling.
"Seriously, princess?" Sebastian asked before he pushed the cutlet into her mouth.
"I..mmm..ateeee," Elliana said as she stood again, but Sebastian held her hand and forced her back on the seat.
"First eat properly," he said to her with an amused smile while she glared at him.
She quickly munched her food.
"Mr. Marino, I am running late. I will eat something in the canteen. I promise," Elliana whispered.
"I will drop you at -," Sebastian started, but she quickly shook her head.
"No!" She raised her voice, surprising everyone.
Sebastian didn’t say anything. He just quirked his brows at her.
"Princess, is everything alright? Why do you not want our prince to drop you?" Miss Zoya asked the Princess when she noticed how their prince’s soft expression was starting to drop slowly.
"I...uh... I just don’t want to trouble Mr. Marino. He is already so busy with his ceremony schedule and work," Elliana whispered with a shy smile, and Sebastian smiled subtly.
How cutely she was lying in front of him. He thought before leaning back in his seat.
He clearly heard her talking to someone over the call that she would meet them after the exam.
"Are you sure about it? If you don’t leave with me you will be late for the exams. I have a meeting in that area, so I can pick you up after exams too," Sebastian said and Elliana nodded.
"Don’t worry. If all the cars are busy, I will ask Dexter to pick me up from the market. It’s no big deal and -"
Before Elliana could complete her sentence, Sebastian held her hand on the cutlery, and in a swift motion, he pulled her on his lap, surprising her with the sudden action.
"How dare you take another man’s name in front of your husband, hmm?" Sebastian grabbed her chin, forcing her to look into his eyes, making her eyes brim with tears slightly at the pain she was feeling because of her stuffed mouth.
"But aren’t you the one who is busy with -"
"And if I am busy, you will ask for help from another man?" Sebastian cut her off again.
Everyone thought that the Princess wouldn’t want to anger their prince more than he already was and would deny what he was saying, but to their surprise, Elliana nodded at him with a childish proud smile.
"I don’t think there is any harm in taking help from my friends," Elliana grinned.
Miss Zoya, Lucas, the chef, Ambrose - "..." Can you choose your words wisely, Princess? Don’t you know how your words affect Prince and his attitude towards others?
They wanted to tell their princess, looking at their prince who had a sarcastic evil smile on his face.
"Is that so?" Sebastian asked before he wrapped his hands around her torso and picked her in his arms, bridal style.
"Well, in that case, as a good filial husband, I should ensure that I don’t give you any chances to ask for help from others, no?" Sebastian cooed in his ears before flickering his gaze at Ambrose.
"Give me the car keys," Sebastian ordered.
"But sir, I can drive -"
"Did I stutter, Ambrose?" Sebastian asked and Ambrose pulled out the car keys from his coat’s pocket and gave them to the prince, who smirked at the princess.
She clearly looked uncomfortable with the idea.
Now he will see how she meets whoever that person is.
"Mr. Marino, what are you doing? I can go with the chauffeur and -"
"Who is also another man, no? I think I should take my wife for her first exam in the black skull palace myself," Sebastian mused at the princess, who didn’t like the idea of it.
She didn’t know why, but for some reason, it looked like something was brewing in Mr. Marino’s head, and it wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
Could it be that he knew she was meeting with Prince Vincenzo today and he was deliberately interrupting her plans? Elliana nodded at herself.
That could be the reason why -
"I want to spend every minute I can amidst my busy schedule with you, Princess," Sebastian whispered to her as he took her out, and Elliana’s gaze immediately flickered to his face.
She looked at his side profile, her hand instinctively reaching to touch the mask, the mask that was a hindrance between their emotions.
She touched the plastic material before sighing and placing her head on his chest.
However, as soon as she did that, she quickly removed her head with an apology.
"Why are you saying sorry?" Sebastian asked, confused.
"I applied a bit of cream and face powder today. You are going to a meeting. I don’t want to dirty your clothes," Elliana whispered and Sebastian looked down at her before placing her on the bonnet of the car as soon as they reached there.
He looked straight into her eyes before smiling.
"Fair enough. Why would you want to dirty my clothes when you can dirty me instead?" Sebastian asked, rubbing his thumb over her lower lips before he flickered his heated gaze to her eyes.
"Let’s not be late for the exam, yeah?" Sebastian said as if it took every ounce of patience he had to say those words and Elliana smiled at him.
She grabbed the collar of his coat before pulling him forward.
Since he was wearing a full mask her lips landed on the plastic material, and she smiled.
"All the best for the meeting," she gave him an unadulterated smile.
"You know what? Let’s go inside," Sebastian said, and Elliana looked at him confused.
"I want to say all the best too. And I have my own way," Sebastian grinned behind the mask, but the mischievousness in his voice was enough to let Elliana know what he had in mind, and she blushed.
"I will be late," she looked down at her feet, and Sebastian nodded.
He placed her inside the car before sitting on the other side.
"You didn’t deny it. It means you aren’t against the idea. But because of the shortage of time, you had to say no," Sebastian mumbled to himself, and Elliana felt like hiding her face somewhere in the corner because of how he was making her shy again and again.
