The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 414: Bitter bonds
Chapter 414: Bitter bonds
Ambrose parked the car right in front of the man gates of the royal palace.
Sebastian walked out of the car and walked to the large gates.
The guards looked at each other warily before looking at the prince. They didn’t know how to react in a situation like this, especially after what happened in the afternoon.
Sebastian looked at the hesitation in their eyes and suppressed the urge to scoff.
Of course, how could he forget? He was banned from entering the royal Kingdom at night without informing any family member.
Ambrose looked at his prince and gulped.
If it hadn’t been a matter of national security, there was no way their prince would’ve come to this place today.
"Tell your masters that Prince Sebastian is here to discuss a massacre near the southern regions of the seashore. They will understand," Sebastian said, and the guards nodded.
Sebastian turned around before walking to the pillar and leaning his back on the pillar.
Closing his eyes, he tried to calm his raging heart, thinking about his princess.
She looked quite worried today, and it irked him. He had left her sleeping perfectly fine. Could it be that she had a bad nightmare, and she was worried because of that? The poor girl was quite haunted by them.
Sebastian pulled out his phone and opened his gallery.
He looked at the photo that he snapped when she was walking in the garden behind the building today, and a soft smile immediately appeared on his face.
She was such a mess. His pretty mess that only belonged to him.
"My sunshine, my Cara," Sebastian whispered, touching the screen as if he was touching her face.
He closed his eyes, remembering how she usually smiles at him and blushes when he flirts with her.
Even after they did almost everything, she was so shy that his heart always skipped a beat when she looked away from him.
Ambrose, who was standing beside his prince and watching him from the corner of his eyes, smiled inwardly.
He was happy for his prince.
Their princess was really his happy line. No matter what happens to him these days, the thought of her alone brings a smile to his face.
Ambrose looked at the guards, who were looking at his prince, and his eyes immediately narrowed as he stood in front of his prince, hiding him from those guards.
No member of this kingdom deserved this exclusive smile on his prince’s face that only belonged to his Princess. Ambrose scowled, acting like a loyal dog to his princess.
"Prince Angelo has allowed Prince Sebastian," one of the guards looked at Ambrose’s dark red eyes and gulped.
It wasn’t hidden that every member around Prince Sebastian was well-trained and equivalent to ministers and Dukes when it came to fighting skills.
Sebastian heard the guard and pushed the phone inside his pocket, standing straight and clearing his throat, the smile disappearing from his face as if it was never there.
In his hurry to come here, he had forgotten to change his mask to a full one and now he was surely regretting it.
Sebastian walked inside the royal Kingdom, his gaze meeting with the King before flickering to the rest of the brothers one by one.
"Sebastian, the guard said it’s about a massacre on the southern seashore. What happened?" Their father Noah walked forward.
Sebastian raised his brows.
"And here I thought you guys would ask me to sit down and wonder if I ate something or not. I mean, it’s an optimum time for a meal, isn’t that the reason why I am banned from entering the kingdom at this time?" Sebastian asked, and Abramo sighed.
"It’s not -"
"I don’t know what exactly happened. But these are the words of one of the guard’s wives. I confirmed it through her memories so it’s not a hoax. I mean, only if you guys can believe my word for it," Sebastian cut off his grandfather from speaking and played the recording for everyone to listen to.
They heard what the wife told them about what her husband said.
"What do you think?" King Abramo asked.
"Let’s take Prince Stephano’s insight first," Sebastian said.
Stephano looked at his brother before nodding.
"From the description of it, it sounds like were-glawackus, but the man also mentioned that they were emerging from the sea.
We can now counter it with some sea monsters, especially relating to tigerfish. But even after that, there is no way they would flash like some kind of lighting fish or bioluminescence. All in all, the probability of it being an imaginary creature is higher, and I think it’s done by some kind of witch," Prince Stephano explained, and Sebastian nodded.
"That’s what I concluded. I asked a few people that I could who knew about witchcraft, and they told me that the spell that is used to create such monsters has been banned for more than ten centuries. Even the level ten witches are not allowed access to them. Not to mention, it needs a special kind of heirloom that’s rare," Sebastian paused to see everyone’s reaction.
"A heirloom? What kind of heirloom can be of use to a witch? Do we have that in our state?" It was Prince Vincenzo who asked.
After his princess told him Vincenzo was always her friend who helped her and supported her by being there when she felt lonely and went to the forest, though Sebastian was still wary of him, he respected him enough to not mock him like he mocked everyone.
"Yes. That heirloom is present in our state. As a matter of fact, that heirloom is available in our inventory where we keep rare items," Sebastian’s words came like a wave of shock and everyone started looking at each other.
Abramo’s brows furrowed.
"Sebastian, have you lost your mind? Do you even have any idea what you are talking about? You are indirectly saying that someone from the royal family colluded with the dark witches to take down your guards?" Abramo roared.
Sebastian suppressed the urge to scoff. He looked at his grandfather, not saying anything.
Prince Stephano immediately understood that his grandfather made a mistake again in judging Sebastian and quickly held his hand.
"Grandpa," Stephano shook his head, and Abramo’s pupils dilated; he realized he acted out of his wits against Sebastian once again.
"If I wanted to accuse you guys of playing such a dirty trick, I wouldn’t be standing here explaining everything. The reason I am here is to warn you guys that someone probably stole the heirloom, used it, and put it there. And if the heirloom isn’t there, it would mean that the guy still has that, and we can have the kingdom checked," Sebastian said before chuckling.
He chuckled, shaking his head in self-mockery.
"I had that kind of trust in you guys that you wouldn’t want to kill my guards for your selfish motives but I guess it’s an expensive thing that I gave you guys," Sebastian turned around.
Abramo noticed the blood on the back of his grandson’s overcoat and immediately felt guilty.
Did he get hurt while he was there? And even after that, he came to talk to them?
"Sebastian, we will find the culprit," Stephano tried to resolve the matter.
Sebastian scoffed, without looking back.
"This was a state matter, and as a citizen, I had to report it. I am not seeking justice from a palace full of people who have always shown me -" Sebastian didn’t complete his sentence and left the mansion.
"Grandpa, what was that all about? Don’t you think for someone who keeps saying he wants to give Sebastian a chance, you are being too wary of him?" Stephano asked.
"Brother, stop acting all righteous and blaming him just because you had a change of heart in a day by seeing his wife. We all are trying our best," Angelo said and turned around before leaving for his room, shocking everyone with his choice of words.
But now that everyone thought about it, didn’t Stephano change after he met Elliana?
Stephano looked at his younger brother, his jaws clenching.
"Brother Stephano, forget it," Marcus patted his brother’s shoulder before leaving, making Abramo sigh.
"You are right, Stephano. I should be more careful next time. I can’t always act like he is at fault and then claim to be on his side too," Abramo said.
Meanwhile, Sebastian, who was out of the mansion now, sat inside the car.
"Shall I?" Ambrose asked to ensure if he should start the car.
"Take me to the mountain, Ambrose. I don’t want to go near Princess and have her cry again with sadness in my eyes. She needs to sleep. She deserves it," Sebastian whispered, and Ambrose looked at his boss from the rearview mirror with sadness lingering in his eyes.
His boss was hurt again by his family, and funnily this relationship was starting to become like a fishbone that he wasn’t able to throw or swallow.
