The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 380: Will you let me win?
Chapter 380: Will you let me win?
’Isn’t this cheating?’ Elliana asked, surprised at the sudden jerk in her bike.
’Everything is fair for us. We are the dark witches. We are the lords of this nature!’ Elliana heard Circe’s voice full of pride, and a thunderstorm echoed in the environment, making everyone look at the sky in amazement.
"Woah, what is this? The number 33 actually got it sorted. This is the first time I have seen someone save themselves from a fall like that one. If this isn’t a miracle then what is it? And what is with this sudden change in the climate? Are the gods with this person now?" The host chuckled.
Everyone’s curiosity was piqued as they saw Number 33 moving forward toward Number 1 which was Kevin.
Prince Santo, who was a fan of such races looked at his father, who was as focussed as him, and looked at his sister.
"This is amazing. Not only did this person gain back their speed and control of the bike, but they are now neck to neck with Kevin, who has been ahead since earlier. Isn’t this a prime example of a dark horse?" Prince Santo asked Victoria, who barely hummed, still peachy about how Brother Stephano doesn’t leave a chance to scold her these days.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the gathering, Sebastian looked at Harry.
"So? What news do you have?" Sebastian asked.
"It took us an hour, but after that, he finally gave us something useful," Harry looked at his boss with a serious expression.
"According to him, the five men who had attacked the human council head’s son pretending to be a part of us and our royal guards were hired by none other than the council’s son himself," Harry reported, waiting for his boss’s reaction.
Sebastian quirked his brows at the news.
His gaze flickered to the large screens that were visible from even 400 meters away where they were standing. He was least interested in the racing, but the host’s words indeed caught him by surprise.
He turned his attention back to his subordinate and smirked.
"So you are trying to say- That foolish man hired those vampires to pretend like our royal guards with that dress and everything to taint our reputation in front of my princess so he could become the hero, but his plan failed and my princess had to suffer because of it? He wanted to make me the bad man and become a hero in her eyes so he could snatch her away from me?" Sebastian asked.
Harry - "..." Well, if things are seen that way then -
"I guess, sir," Harry let the sentence hang before clearing his throat. He seriously needs the skills of his twin brother Garry, who can make comments and elaborate things, or Lucas can prolong a conversation. Harry sighed at himself before looking at his prince again.
"Sir, this man looks like someone who has more information. He accidentally left the names of Duke Marcello and his subordinate Mellitus. So we are continuing our interrogation," Harry said and Sebastian nodded in understanding.
"Keep on going. The more information we have, the more it would be favorable to us. I have some business with the Duchess of Night Flower Mountains," Sebastian turned around.
"Lucas, I want you to call the Dutchess and ask her if she is free and here. I heard she would be here too, but still, I see no signs of her," Sebastian ordered and was about to walk away when his brows scrunched.
He looked back at Lucas before quirking his brows.
"What are you doing here in the first place? Weren’t you supposed to be with the princess? Guarding her, so she could enjoy the race in peace without worrying over some vampire hitting on her?" He asked.
"Yes, sir. I was guarding her, and then - is she not with you? But -" Lucas’s eyes widened when he realized he made a blunder.
Sebastian’s eyes darkened recognizing the panic in his eyes. He didn’t like this kind of expression on someone he entrusted his wife with.
He stepped forward, grabbing Lucas’s collar and pulling him close as he looked into the subordinate’s panicked eyes.
"Where is my wife, Lucas?" His voice deepened and everyone gulped.
Meanwhile, Elliana took a deep breath as she showed a thumbs-up sign to Dexter, telling him she was alright.
This sign wasn’t missed with the cameras that were capturing the race from all angles.
"Guess, number 33 is giving us a sign that they are okay. Well, it’s nice to have god on your side, no?" The host announced, and Vincenzo, who was waiting on the other side and heard the announcement sighed in relief.
He was already in the best spot to jump down the mountain if something happened to her, just in case.
He sat on the ground, leaning his back on the large stone, taking deep breaths to calm his heart.
He heard from his spy who had a friend in Sebastian’s team what happened to Elliana when she visited her parents, and to say his heart ached for her would be an understatement.
The sad faces she used to have all the time when he used to meet her. The forced smiles she used to show him and those bruises she used to hide behind her dress-up but would wince when he accidentally brushed his hand on her shoulders while playing.
How she used to say if she had things in her hand, she would’ve wanted to disappear and never be found, everything rushed to his mind like a movie reel, making him sigh. Everything made even more sense. He kind of knew she was bullied back at home, but he had never thought she was an illegitimate princess.
"As much as I wanted to be the one to take you out of your misery, I kind of am happy that you are out of that place," Vincenzo looked at the large screen where Glory was riding almost beside Kevin now.
A smile appeared on his lips. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Though he was happy for her, he really wanted to be with her, not as a lover but as a friend.
However, his brother’s jealousy was definitely coming his way.
As Elliana was riding with Kevin, she was about to speed up again when Kevin opened the flap of his helmet, trying to get her attention as he waved his hand toward her.
Elliana narrowed her eyes, thinking he would threaten her or challenge her. His name wasn’t unknown in the market. He was known for not talking to anyone and always scoring the most expensive gigs even in some stunt movies.
"Hey," Kevin tried to get her attention again, and Elliana rolled her eyes before accelerating the bike.
Kevin did the same. He kept his bike accelerated enough to stay beside the number 33 and talk to him.
"Hey, man. Can you open your flap? Please hear me out," Kevin tried again, and Elliana turned to him.
She was tempted to open her flap and ask him what it was all about, but she didn’t want to reveal she was a girl so soon.
"What is it?" She asked with hand signs.
"This... Can you let me win this race?" Kevin asked, and Elliana’s brows quirked.
"Why?" She asked again.
"This race is really important to me. My girlfriend gave birth to my son three weeks ago, and he was born with some complications. I need this money for his surgery. It will cover half the cost of the surgery. If you don’t believe me, I can show you his picture and let the doctor talk to you if you don’t believe me. They are asking for $67000 for the surgery. So this amount will help me a lot. Please, I beg you," Kevin said, controlling his bike before lifting his hands to beg Elliana.
Elliana looked at him before accelerating the bike without saying or signing anything, making Kevin grit his teeth.
"Huh? What is happening? What is Kevin talking about to number 33? Are they threatening each other? Oh, is he joining hands? What the hell is going on? The number 33 picked its pace again! It looks like someone is hell-bent on breaking Kevin’s 3 race win streak this time," The host announced, and Dexter, who was riding neck to neck with Raven, gritted his teeth.
He wanted to go ahead, but his bike wasn’t supporting him too much.
Kevin sighed and accelerated the bike. The prize for the second place was just $5000. It would do nothing for him. And since he would lose his streak, he might not get any tips from royals either.
If he didn’t win this race and brought that much money back to the hospital, there is no way the doctors would even start the operation, and his girlfriend would die if something happened to his family. It was all dependent on him. Kevin blinked the tears forming in his eyes and sighed.
He accelerated the bike the most he could. He didn’t have any choice. Winning was the only way for him.
