The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 355: Not so sure anymore
Chapter 355: Not so sure anymore
"You are going to regret it, Lucas," Miss Zoya said.
Lucas looked at his sword and smiled.
He didn’t need anyone to tell him how bad things could go tonight for him, but he was ready to do it for his princess, for the person who saved his life.
"I am ready," They all heard Elliana’s voice, and Lucas looked up at the stairs, his gaze immediately dropping to the smile on her face.
She looked really enchanting in her attire. Prettier than when she was crying in that room.
"As a Duke’s elder son, I should’ve attended the annual ball since the beginning, but I guess the goddess wanted me to attend like this," Lucas whispered to Miss Zoya, and the caretaker looked at the subordinate before humming.
There was a bond between them.
The caretaker didn’t know what it was, but the way Lucas respected the princess, she had never seen him doing that for anyone else, or should she say, no one apart from their Prince. She could feel it but couldn’t put her finger on it.
"Are you nervous?" Lucas asked, and Eliana shook her head.
He could see she was resolute to go there and leave an impression, probably stronger than anyone has in history.
He nodded and led her to his car.
Elliana looked out of the window as the car started, her sadness turning into an emotion that she did not recognize.
She averted her gaze to her dark red painted nails and rubbed her index finger’s nail on her hand.
Lucas, who was watching her from the rearview mirror from time to time gulped slightly when he started feeling the same dark energy he had once felt, the energy she was oozing when she had arrived at that forest with those rogue wolves and saved his life.
"Princess, are you okay?" Lucas asked, and Elliana hummed distantly.
"Mr. Pablo, tell me, what is the punishment of murder in your laws? How brutal is it?" Elliana asked, her powers finally coming back in control now that the girl was much calmer than before.
"M-murder?" Lucas asked, almost losing control of his car, and Elliana hummed again.
There was no emotion on her face.
It was almost as if she wasn’t talking about taking someone’s life but some weather report.
"Lifetime imprisonment," Lucas answered nonetheless.
"Okay," she didn’t say anything further.
He looked at her through the mirror once again and gulped.
Now Lucas was definitely having second doubts about bringing her to the annual ball. He didn’t know if his prince would do something to him or not, but the princess’s behavior, vibes, and question was definitely questionable.
After one hour of driving, Lucas gave the keys to the valet and held his elbow out for Elliana to take.
"This is definitely going to get me into big trouble," Lucas whined again.
Elliana squeezed his elbows comfortingly.
"I will protect you," she said, her eyes holding a promise, and as much as he wasn’t supposed to relax with her words, he shamelessly did.
Maybe because deep down, he still knew that his prince cared for her and her opinions.
"Let’s go," Lucas said.
They walked to the entrance and showed their invitation cards that Lucas grabbed from Sebastian’s office, more like snuck them out, and as soon as they stepped inside the venue, Elliana left his hand.
"Go ahead, Mr. Pablo. I will enter alone," Elliana said.
"But princess -"
"It’s my revenge you said. I don’t want you to take all the blame for what I have in mind. I might go to my friends who would definitely be here," Elliana said.
After looking at her for quite some seconds when he knew she was not budging from her decision, Lucas nodded before walking ahead, promising himself to keep an eye on the princess in case her wounds opened up.
Elliana sighed.
She was just a pawn for him, a pawn that he was using to get to the throne, right? Guess what? This pawn has an emotional activity too, and today this pawn was feeling suicidal for sure to come to a place full of powerful vampires with her ready-to-bleed neck.
"Miss, you are?" The guards at the entrance asked to announce her presence, but Elliana smiled.
"A nobody," Elliana smirked before she held her skirt to move with ease.
She took a deep breath and placed her foot on the first stair, her eyes immediately turning cold and full of malignant dominance.
A murderous glint passed through her eyes as she raked her gaze all over the vampires, trying to look for just one man that she had to ignore today night.
It wasn’t hard to locate him for two reasons. First, because he was the only one who was wearing that one-of-a-kind devil mask, and second, because his eyes had already found hers.
That’s how much he knew and was familiar with her presence.
A soft smirk passed through her lips.
She noticed him turning his body towards her, but before he could move a step, Elliana extended her hand, and Dexter, who was already waiting for her immediately walked and held it.
She had already informed him that she was coming with her bodyguard because her guardian was a powerful vampire and unluckily she didn’t have a partner.
He was more than happy to be her partner.
"Well, aren’t you looking like the star of the night?" He whispered in her ears before he bent on his knees and kissed the back of her hand, making Elliana smile at him, her gaze turning to Sebastian’s dark ones once again.
Even though they were more than 50 meters apart, and the hall was dimly lit, she still could tell that he was fuming already.
Two can play this game.
"I heard what happened at the store. Are you okay? I am so sorry, Elliana. If I had been there, I wouldn’t have let anything happen to you. Please forgive me," Dexter whispered to her, feeling genuinely sorry.
Elliana turned her entire attention to him, smiling softly.
"I know, Dexter. I know that no matter what happens you are one of the vampires around me who will protect me, and I am forever grateful to you for that," Elliana smiled.
"You are getting so good with words these days. Who is teaching you all these antics? Honestly, I am surprised that you came here. You should’ve rested. This place... Well..." Dexter didn’t complete his sentence.
He wanted to say that this place was full of royal vampires who had been annoying and frustrating her for quite some time, but he didn’t, alas someone heard it.
Elliana understood what he was trying to say, but she didn’t comment anything to that and turned to her other friends who walked to her to check up on her.
Her gaze was with the icy blue eyes of Daniel, who looked at her apologetically for the last time.
"Now that I think about it, I think it’s good you don’t love me. Why do you always attract troubles your way?" Daniel asked.
"Shut up, Daniel. It wasn’t because of her this time. It was because of -" Melony stopped, already knowing that Samantha felt enough guilty.
She didn’t need to run salt on her guilt.
"It’s because those vampires were pricks. I am not here to talk about spilled tea. My guardian said these annual balls are fun. So let me enjoy, okay?" Elliana said.
Everyone nodded at her and Samanatha smiled gratefully. She was thankful that Elliana didn’t blame her, and because it was all because of Elliana she was standing here.
She wanted to thank her for her understanding and help when she passed. Alcinder’s heated gaze found her and he stepped ahead.
Samantha noticed his gaze moving to Elliana ever so softly, a dark glint in his eyes, making her gulp.
This wasn’t good. Why was he looking at the girl like she committed some sin?
