The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 354: If it’s revenge, take it properly

Chapter 354: If it’s revenge, take it properly

"What do you mean?" Nathaniel asked.

"If Mr. Marino leaves me after 26 days, I want to move on," Eliana looked at her lap, her hands fumbling with the fabric of her dress.

"This... This is too painful. I feel like my heart is bleeding. I don’t want to love anyone ever again, but I don’t want to keep hurting either. So do me a favor and take me to your kingdom," Elliana whispered, shocking Nathaniel once again.

He couldn’t believe that the girl who was always afraid of a place full of witches because she felt like no one would accept her, would readily say such words.

"Do you even understand what you are saying? If you came to the mountains with me, it means forever away from Sebastian," Nathaniel said, hoping that she would understand where she was leading herself.

"I know," Elliana whispered before she stood from her place, looking at herself in the mirror’s reflection.

"I love him with all I have. Earlier, I used to think that it was mere care and admiration for someone who accepted me as I was, but it wasn’t.

The thought of another woman close to him is hurting me. I don’t think I would be able to bear anything else," Elliana gulped before she raised her hand in the air and opened her palm towards the sky.

"Let it cry on my behalf," Elliana whispered before she turned around, and Nathaniel saw a resolution in her eyes that he had never seen before.

She finally realized that she had no place in the vampire’s Kingdom. She will keep getting hurt here because no one will ever consider her seriously.

For them, she was a human, a weakling and she couldn’t expose her true identity either.

She has realized everything. That she was never going to be a part of them. That she was nothing more than a commodity for them, for him.

This realization was eating her alive, and she was breaking every second. And the thought of her breaking in front of him while he was watching helplessly, hurt him in return.

"Elliana -"

"It’s either he accepts me as a witch or he doesn’t at all. On the day of his crowning, I will reveal the truth. We were going to separate anyway, so it’s for the better.

I didn’t want him to know and hate me, but maybe I would be able to live with the fact that he hates me, and it would prevent me from running to him again and again and losing myself in the process," she clenched her fists on her dress.

"I have to find my mom and my birth origins too. I have to find my purpose in life," Elliana wiped her tears.

"If that’s what you want, just know that I am always here for you," Nathaniel whispered to her, and she nodded before smiling softly.

"I know, Nathaniel. In this cursed world, after Mr. Marino, I can only trust you. I trust you so much that even if you ask me to jump into an active volcano, I will do it because I know you won’t ever try to hurt me," Elliana looked at him innocently, her eyes glistening with tears.

Nathaniel sighed.

She was too innocent and naive for this world, and maybe that’s why even when his mind wants to blame her for the death of his father, or whatever happened to his father, in his heart he knows that she has always been innocent. That she lost and suffered more than he did.

"What is your next plan now? I heard from Madonna what you did," Nathaniel said.

Elliana snorted before chuckling through her tears.

"It wasn’t my fault. The alligators were distracting," she wiped her cheeks again, and Nathaniel ruffled her hair before kissing her forehead.

"It’s never your fault. I know that. Your wound should heal by midnight. I transfer some of my healing powers to you. Your healing powers are really low and you will have to work on them. I will ask the Dean to start a class for that too. I will take my leave now," Nathaniel caressed her red cheeks with his knuckles before smiling.

"Till then," he whispered before vanishing into thin air, and as soon as he did that, Elliana fell back on the bed, the tears that had stopped coming back in full flow.

It was far easier said than done. She took a deep breath and was about to go to the bathroom to wash her face when she heard a soft knock on the door.

She blinked her tears furiously to remove the remaining wetness from her eyes as she wiped them furiously.

After checking her reflection in the mirror one last time, she walked to the door and opened it softly.

"Yes?" She asked, not showing the person her face.

"Princess, it’s me, Lucas," Lucas whispered.

"Is there anything you need, Mr. Pablo?" Elliana asked, and Lucas’s hand clenched on his sword involuntarily.

The princess was back to Mr. Pablo’s honorifics. She was dejected and was trying to create a distance between all of them once again.

He didn’t need anyone to tell him that she was hurt, and was trying her best to cope with it.

"Can I come in?" He asked daringly.

Elliana looked at the condition of her room before turning around and letting the door open.

Her back was facing the subordinate and he looked at the pillow that was out of its place, his keen eyes immediately recognizing the wetness on the fabric.

The bedsheet was wrinkled too and the carpet was out of place.

Everything she must’ve done before he arrived, played in his head like a movie reel before he sighed.

"I am sorry for what happened earlier, Princess," he took a deep breath.

"Has Mr. Marino sent you here?" She asked, and Lucas paused in his place. He felt stuck.

"I regret to inform you -"

"Then what am I supposed to do with your apology, Lucas? The culprit in the picture doesn’t care about it, so why should you? You didn’t commit the crime, so how can you ask for an apology on his behalf?" Elliana asked in her soft voice.

Lucas felt contemplated. He didn’t know how to portray the words for her to feel better. At this point, he felt like anything and everything he would say would be taken wrongly.

"He isn’t doing it because he wants it, princess. It’s all for the throne. He needs -"

"And you don’t need to tell me that, Lucas. I know that already. Isn’t everything he always does for the throne only? Marrying me, keeping me, trusting me, pretending to care for me, now meeting another woman, everything is for the throne," Elliana smiled.

Lucas felt attacked. As negative and disgusting as those words sounded in her mouth, they were indeed the truth that had been told to her.

He couldn’t blame her. Anyone in her place would think so after everything.

"Is there anything I can do for you?" Lucas asked after a lot of contemplation, and Elliana smiled.

"Can you betray your sir for me?" She asked, making Lucas freeze in his place.

"Princess, what are you -"

"I said what I said. If you can’t, get lost," Elliana sighed and walked to the balcony, making Lucas clench his hand around his sword.

There was no way he wanted to betray his sir, but he didn’t want to see her sad too. She was someone who saved his life when everyone couldn’t, including his sir.

"What is it?" Lucas asked, and Elliana smiled.

"I want to go to this annual ball," Elliana turned around and saw Lucas widening his eyes.

His throat tightened.

He rushed to the table and grabbed the jug to drink some water and wet his throat which was drying at the thought of what the princess was asking him.

"And I want you to be my partner," Elliana said, making him spit the water in his mouth as he looked at her flabbergasted.

"Your... What?" He asked, horrified, trying to find just one hint that she was joking.

But she wasn’t.

She was dead serious.

It was clear in her eyes.

And for once, Lucas was ready to betray his sir because he couldn’t deny her.

"He wanted you to wear blue, right? Wear Black or Red. If it’s revenge, take it properly," Lucas said before turning around and leaving the room, knowing all too well he was going to regret this decision for sure.
