The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 335: The royal spy

Chapter 335: The royal spy

"I still don’t understand why I am here with you when we all know this can get all of us in trouble," Dexter groaned as he walked around with Elliana’s hand clasped in his.

They were roaming near the regions of the black market.

While Dexter was wearing a turban and a mask to cover his face, Elliana was wearing a fancy veil along with her dress.

"Would you like it if I had come alone and gotten into trouble?" Elliana asked, playing the victim card.

Dexter gritted his teeth and looked at the girl with a scowl.

"The things I do for you," he groaned.

"Don’t act like you don’t love these kinds of adventures with me," Elliana whispered before she turned her head to Dexter, making him look at the girl as a strong urge to flick her forehead crossed his mind and he smiled bitterly.

"Let’s not waste more time," Elliana walked to the restaurant before looking at the message on her phone.

It was Misha. She was at the designated place where they had decided to meet.

"She is there," Elliana whispered and walked inside the restaurant which had a club-like thing for illegal meetings on the third floor of it. She covered the rest of her face with a cotton mask and removed the veil.

She looked at the person standing near the door before nodding at Dexter.

"Room no. 13," Dexter said before glaring at Elliana.

"Even the room number screams danger," he exclaimed, and Elliana rolled her eyes.

"Are you going to show us or just waste our time? Duke Marcello must be here already, right?" Elliana asked confidently.

Dexter raised his brows at her. Whenever she is out of University, she acts like she isn’t the same person anymore. As if some bad, confident, and versatile person possesses her body.

"Sorry, Miss, this way please," the vampire immediately bowed at the mention of Duke Marcello and knew these guests were important.

Elliana nodded and followed the person to the corridor.

"You can leave now," Elliana said, and the vampire immediately left.

"You are quite bold when you are acting like a bad girl. It’s strange how they didn’t comment on our masks or ask for our identity," Dexter murmured.

"If you don’t act boldly, no one will take you seriously here, Dexter. This is not your normal market. Here people judge you based on the dominance you have in your voice. And the reason they didn’t ask about our masks is because people never reveal their true identities in the black market," Elliana explained before she passed through the club and walked straight to room no. 13

As soon as she entered the three men sitting inside the room with Marcello immediately stood.

"Elliana," Marcello nodded and looked at Dexter with raised brows.

"So now you have started to bring your bodyguard everywhere?" He commented before nodding at Dexter.

"Marcello, send your dogs out," Elliana didn’t bother to look at him or anyone, insulting him back for calling her friend a bodyguard and Dexter smiled inwardly.

’That’s my girl,’ Dexter wanted to comment but he stopped at the last second, knowing all too well how badly it can end.

Elliana looked around the room, scanning everything slowly.

It was a normal precautionary step.

"Geez, there are no cameras. I swear you never learn to trust me. Do I ever look for cameras when I come to your decided place?" Marcello scoffed before nodding at his men who bowed and left.

"Miss Elliana, would you like some refreshments?" One of them asked before leaving, and Elliana turned to him.

"Lemon mint juice with no poison, no trace of blood, flesh, or any foreign ingredient other than lemon, mint, water, sugar, and a tinge of black salt," Elliana said specifically, and Marcello groaned, knowing all too well she was doing this to mess with him even more.

The men looked at their boss awkwardly before leaving.

"Will he stay?" Marcello asked, and Elliana looked at Dexter with a contemplated look.

Though the things she was about to talk about here with Marcello were something she didn’t want anyone to know, she didn’t want to send Dexter out among the people he didn’t know when she was the one who brought him here.

Dexter looked at Elliana. He knew what she was thinking about.

He sighed. He wouldn’t be surprised if she asked him to stand out.

From what he has known and found out about Elliana, she wasn’t a normal teenager with a tragic love life and abusive family. She was something greater than that and the fact that no one knew was even more intriguing and nerve-wracking.

"Dexter will stay," Elliana said after a few seconds, and Dexter looked at the girl with raised brows.

He didn’t know if he should feel honored that she was willing to trust him.

"Thank -"

"Let’s talk on the balcony," Elliana said, making Dexter roll his eyes.

He really wanted to flick her forehead. The nerve of this girl to take him to the ninth cloud and throw him back on the ground really irks him sometimes.

"Well," Marcello stood from his place and they walked to the balcony.

As soon as the glass door closed, Elliana looked at him concerned.

"What’s going on, Marcello? This kind of surge? Would it be okay to produce the scent at a time like this? For all we know, even if you don’t put it in the wrong hands, any greedy vampire can do it," Elliana said.

Marcello nodded. He had the same thoughts.

It has been 14 hours since he heard the news from their production department and he hasn’t been able to sit straight without thinking about it for a second.

It was only after giving it a thought a hundred times that he concluded he should tell Elliana about it.

"I honestly don’t know anything this time, Elliana," Marcello confessed.

Elliana didn’t blame him for it. That was the problem of people like him. He was a bad guy with a good heart.

He didn’t want to do anything that would risk the lives of innocent vampires or humans as a matter of fact, and he didn’t want to face any losses that would affect the livelihood of everyone working in the black market under him.

It wasn’t just about him anymore.

They used to sell those scents to the other vampires who used to sneak here and there and save themselves from being exposed. It usually contained the high-class society of the vampires who didn’t want to get caught doing something they should do, like cheating, prostituting, etc.

That was the reason that even when one bottle used to be sold for $3000, it never was a problem.

"How about we postpone the consignment for some time until the rogue humans settle down again? I heard from Glow the royal vampires are reacting to their advancement and sending spies to spy on them just in case," Elliana suggested, and Marcello leaned on the door with his eyes closed.

"Do you have any idea how much loss we would have to bear?" He asked, his eyes red from frustration, and Elliana stared at him without flinching.

"Don’t show me your red eyes. Do you have a better solution? What will happen when the royals find that you sold the scent to their enemies?" Elliana asked as she looked down at the people passing by, her pupils dilating when she noticed Harry walking to some shops.

Why would Harry be here? Could it be that Mr. Marino found out about her whereabouts? Elliana thought before looking at Marcello.

"Who knew you would be coming here?" She asked him, and he followed her gaze, his eyes darkening even more.

Seriously, it looks like he can never catch a break anymore.

He gritted his teeth and was about to slide the glass door to walk inside when he suddenly paused.

Wait. Harry was one of the youngest masked prince’s special spies. How did she know that he was a man of danger? There were around fifty vampires on the streets. How did she recognize the royal spy? Marcello looked at Elliana before narrowing his eyes.

"You know what? I am tired of hiding now. I will just let them meet me now. It’s about time I make my presence known. I’ll have to come out in two days anyway," Marcello said, and he watched the color drain from Elliana’s eyes, making his suspicion even stronger.

This girl was related to the royals somehow, or could it be that she was a spy of humans? He looked at her observant.
