Chapter 333: Between hell and heaven, I will choose you
"Princess! What -" Sebastian started enraged, but his voice was cut off when Elliana suddenly grabbed his face between her hands and pulled him down before planting her lips on his.
It was a peck. Quite a lingering peck.
Like she wanted to channel all her emotions through this one peck as she stood on her tiptoes.
Sebastian felt wet drops landing on his chin and realized she was crying now. A sob broke from her mouth, and the nerve in his forehead ticked at the thought of her crying.
It almost felt like someone pricked his heart, and he froze in his place. Seeing his princess straining her body to meet him, he placed his hand on her waist before hoisting her up, making her wrap her legs around his waist.
Her lips were touching his, her nose was touching the top of his nose and forehead joint, making him feel her every shiver and sob.
"I am sorry," Sebastian whispered, still unsure what made his princess cry like this, but he knew if she was acting like this with him, it had to be his fault only.
"Look, if you want to slap me again, I won’t say just this once because you are crying. You can stop crying now," Sebastian inhaled her scent to calm his own devil that was itching, wanting to hurt anyone or anything that made her cry.
"Wh-why didn’t you call? I called you and you were busy. Why didn’t you call back? In this period did you not think about me even once? Am I that insignificant to you?" Elliana’s gaze quivered.
Sebastian wanted to speak, but she shook her head and placed her finger on his lips to stop him from speaking. She wasn’t done yet.
"I thought we were making progress, but I guess it was all in my head. You will never like me, will you? All this... all this between us is nothing more than the attraction between opposite genders, despite our species, right?" Elliana asked, the hatred she had in her eyes for herself as if she hated herself for falling for the prince, prominent there.
Sebastian wiped her cheeks.
’Quite the opposite, Princess. There wasn’t a moment when I didn’t think of you. Even while killing my enemies, I was thinking about you. Even while breathing I was thinking about how you breathe,’ Sebastian thought in his head.
"Even if you didn’t like me, I told you to act like before, to act like you care about me even when I know you will leave me. You said you would do it and everything was going fine, wasn’t it? Was it so hard? Did you really not have time to make a single phone call? Am I that much of an inconvenience to you?" She asked, more tears falling from her eyes one after the other.
Elliana looked into his eyes through her blurred vision before it cleared when the teardrop rolled down her cheeks again, a new tear blurring her vision again.
’Could you not feel it? After a hard day, I wanted your arms around me. Every time I fell, I wanted nothing more than to return home and see you. And since I couldn’t see you, could you not call me? Did I ask too much? I just wanted you to take me where you belong, even if it’s hell I would go there with a happy smile on my face.
Don’t you see how hard it is to breathe without you around me? You have become the oxygen I need to survive’ Elliana whispered in her mind as she wanted to say so much more, but probably her words were not enough.
They never were, just like her actions, all falling useless.
No matter what she expressed or said, the prince would never be attracted to her, or like her the way she has. Elliana didn’t say anything further. She wasn’t expecting any explanation either.
She just placed her head in the crook of his neck, letting the realization break her heart as tears kept dropping on his bare back.
The realization that she has hopelessly started to feel an emotion that will only bring her pain. Even slapping him earlier because she was so upset and angry at him, squeezed her heart that she wanted to bleed, and her body to sting in place of his face.
’It would’ve been better if I wasn’t a human, right? Then again, we would have never met if I wasn’t a human. I should be glad that I got to meet a man like him, even when it is so painful, right?’ Elliana scoffed at herself in her mind.
She and her cursed fate have a bond that will never let her stay happy, no matter where she goes. Elliana wrapped her hands around Mr. Marino’s neck tighter, letting her heart beat, right above Mr. Marino’s chest.
At least their hearts could stay together even if their owners wouldn’t, right?
Elliana’s sobs stopped, but her tears didn’t.
Sebastian didn’t say or react with anything for a long moment, letting her calm down so she could hear what he would have to say next.
He patted her back softly, calming her and her raging heart.
This stupid girl probably didn’t know that he was hearing every single thought of her. He was listening to her confession about how much she needed him, how much she missed him, and when he should’ve been happy, it squeezed his heart tight.
He hugged her even tighter, placing his mouth in the crook of her neck.
"My princess, will you believe me if I said that I was acting childish because every time we come closer, you talk about leaving?
That I was taking revenge for your words about me going to another woman when I haven’t thought about a single girl before or after you came into my life?
Will you believe me if I say I have never met a more beautiful person than you, inside out? That your flaws are what keeps me sane?" Sebastian whispered into her ears, making her pause.
"Will you believe me that I didn’t call you because I wanted to feel the thirst for you? And that I was indeed being tortured like a fish without water? That I will never get close to any woman as I did to you?"
Sebastian took a deep breath, forcing her head on his shoulders when she wanted to look into his eyes because he knew he wouldn’t be able to say these words while looking into her eyes.
"I have lost myself in you from the day I found you. Your heart is mine, and my heart is yours.
If I had to choose between heaven and hell, I would choose the path that will lead me to you. I don’t know if goddesses are real. All I know is that I found my Aphrodite in you. I found my home in you," Sebastian said, his words freezing Elliana in her place.
"Mr. Marino, I -"
"Ssh, you don’t have to say anything to it. All you need to know is that even though we vampires survive on blood, I don’t think I will be able to live anymore if you aren’t by my side. So you better choose your words carefully next time.
I might be a cold man to the world, but I get hurt too when you talk about something that I am not. Don’t you get it? I want to listen to the melodies your heart sings even when you don’t speak anything. These are my songs for a calming sleep," Sebastian pulled her face enough to look into her eyes.
"Stupid girl. You are important to me? Of course, you are not. You are everything to me," Sebastian placed his lips on hers, and Elliana melted in his arms immediately, the burn in her heart immediately soothing.
