Chapter 330: Burn together
Chapter 330: Burn together
"You got hurt?" Nathaniel kneeled in front of Elliana, who raised her head softly and nodded, her bottom lips between her teeth as she bit it softly to control her pain in the legs and heart.
"Will you be able to stand?" Nathaniel asked, and Elliana shook her head.
"Should I help you, then?" He asked, but she shook her head again.
"This is my task. I will do it first and only then will I rest," Elliana said, and Nathaniel smiled at her resolution before he raised his hand and brought a few leaves from the tree, letting them collect at her foot.
"Do it. I am here watching over you. Nothing will go wrong," Nathaniel sat in front of her, shocking all the witches.
Kadakali, who knew how deeply Nathaniel had loved Elliana, and how much he had yearned to meet her every day when he was training away from her, smiled bitterly at the man’s twisted fate.
Only this girl had the power to bring the mixed-breed prince to his knees and sit on the ground. Usually, he would have formed a chair or throne for himself immediately, but for her, he was nothing more than a normal human being who was at her mercy all the time.
Brother or lover, he was really whipped for her, and why not? The man literally doesn’t know any means of love or family other than this girl who now belongs to someone else.
"I don’t understand how to reduce the intensity. I kept trying and failing," Elliana looked at him with tearful eyes, and Nathaniel smiled.
Teacher Lin looked at her foot, a bit ashamed that she had forgotten such an important and simple instruction on her form.
"Give me your hands," Nathaniel extended his hand, and Elliana placed her hand in his.
He picked one leaf and placed it in the center of her hand.
"Now close your eyes and try to heat this leaf, only a little. Think that this is a living being that you just want to warm up a little and not hurt," Nathaniel said, and Elliana whispered the chant, thinking about the same things.
She opened her eyes and looked at the burning leaf, leaving a residue slowly and her eyes widened.
"I did this?" She asked, surprised, and Nathaniel hummed. She couldn’t believe that she did it immediately when he taught her. She had been trying to do it for more than two hours.
"You want to do it again?" Nathaniel asked, and Elliana nodded eagerly.
But rather than giving her the leaf, he placed his hand on top of hers.
"I want you to use my hand instead," Nathaniel said, and Elliana’s pupils dilated.
"Nath! Have you lost your mind? I would rather die than burn your hand!" Elliana quickly pulled her hand away.
Nathaniel’s heart skipped a beat at her choice of words, and he chuckled.
"Stupid, I want you to just heat up my hand. You love me so much, Elliana. Use the warmth of your heart and chant the same spell.
But rather than thinking about burning my hand, I want you to think about heating it. It would be better if you could create a flame over my hand without touching my skin, but it would be too complicated," Nathaniel whispered to her.
Teacher Lin looked at the prince teaching the girl so softly and wondered why he didn’t teach her everything himself and brought her here instead.
It was clear that no one would be a better teacher for her since she trusted him with her life and would believe and follow every word he would say without questioning it.
"Look into my eyes while you do it," Nathaniel cupped her cheeks, and Elliana focused her gaze on Nathaniel’s eyes.
His galaxy eyes were full of so much adoration and care for her. The soft positive emotions swirl in them, the emotions that come to life only when he was with her, she took a shaky breath.
"Brennen," Elliana whispered softly, letting her heart guide her powers as Nathaniel had suggested to her.
Nathaniel’s gaze contorted. It was warm, almost painful. The smell of burning flesh reached their noses.
"Nathaniel!" Kadakali shouted in horror when they saw his hand burning, but Nathaniel didn’t remove his hand from Elliana’s hand.
"Nathaniel, oh my god," Elliana tried to pull her hand away but he didn’t allow her.
"No one will move," Nathaniel said through gritted teeth, his gaze focused on Elliana’s panicked eyes.
"Sshhh, don’t worry. Nothing will happen to me. It’s alright. Try to control the intensity. Calm down. Take a deep breath and let your heart channel it," Nathaniel said before he used his hand that was cupping her cheeks to wipe the rogue tear that rolled down Elliana’s cheeks.
"I can’t,"
"You can. Just try it. It’s easy. I promise I am not hurting. You will never be able to hurt me," Nathaniel smiled at her.
Kadakali’s eyes brimmed with tears at the man’s selfless love. Anyone would be blind to not see how much he still loved her and was ready to go through any kind of pain for her.
Just to teach her, he was going through the pain of burning his own hand, and even in that kind of pain, he was smiling for her so she wouldn’t panic.
’Why do you have to be so cruel to this man, Moon goddess? The poor guy has suffered all his life. His father was snatched away from him, his family, his kingdom, everything was snatched away, and his own people didn’t accept her.
And when he fell in love and protected that girl for eighteen long years, you have to turn that girl into his half-sister? What kind of justice was this?’ Kadakali thought in her mind, shaking her head as she wasn’t able to see it anymore.
"Why? Why are you suffering alone?" Elliana asked dejectedly with resolution in her eyes before she grabbed Nathaniel’s burning hand and placed it on her neck, making Nathaniel’s eyes widen.
"Elliana!" Nathaniel nearly growled at her, and everyone in the room looked at the girl in pure shock.
She was white daring and- they couldn’t find the right word to describe her.
"I will never let my friend suffer alone just because he wants to help me learn some spells," Elliana said through her torn eyes before she closed her eyes and concentrated on her powers.
’Circe, calm down. If you don’t want to hurt me, help me control the intensity. Follow my orders,’ Elliana whispered in her mind.
The pain from her own fire made her feel dizzy as the fire was reaching her inner skin.
The fire on Nathaniel’s hand that was on her neck started subsiding slowly until it was nothing more than warmth, and Nathaniel looked at the girl worriedly, whose eyes were drooping slowly.
"Oh my, Elliana," Nathaniel immediately went on his knee and pulled her in his arms once she succeeded with her first task. He looked at her soft smile with a contemplated look.
"See, I told you. I would do it," Elliana whispered, and Nathaniel looked at the large burn mark on her neck before sighing.
He placed his hand on her burn mark, using the coolness of his powers to heal her.
"Is she okay?" Kadakali was the first one to rush to her when she felt Elliana losing consciousness, and Nathaniel hummed before he bent and kissed her forehead.
"She will be fine," Nathaniel looked at her legs which were swollen and bleeding slightly, and sighed before picking her in his arms and walking out of the seminar room, Teacher Lin hot on his tail.
