Chapter 299: Where were you when I was burnt

"Are you ready for your first official experiment?" Glow signed, and Sasha translated for everyone, making them nod in response.

Elliana was absent from the class today, and the few people who cared about her quite a lot these days were irked by her absence.

"Do you not know where she is?" Daniel looked at Dexter.

"Why do you think I would know if the others don’t?" Dexter quirked his brows, already annoyed by the fact that she wasn’t here, and now Daniel was adding salt to it.

"It’s just you have a massive crush on her and -"

"Just like you are head over heels for her?" Dexter snapped, and Alcinder placed his hand on Daniel’s shoulder to tell him to stop and not mention it.

Daniel scowled, not liking Dexter’s sarcastic answer.

"Let’s start with the distillation. You guys can take help with the manual. For the maceration, we’ll provide you with a few specific items and -" Flow stopped signing when Elliana walked to the entrance of the laboratory.

The expression on her face wasn’t pleasant, and anyone could tell it.

"Is there a specific reason you are late, student Elliana?" Glow signed.

Sasha didn’t need to translate it this time.

Elliana rolled her eyes.

"Ask your lover about it. Next time he calls me early in the morning, I will light his clothes on fire and make him run naked in front of you," Elliana signed back, and a slight blush appeared on both Glow and Sasha’s faces.

"Is everything okay?" Glow asked, looking at her hopefully.

Elliana rolled her eyes before sighing.

"Stop reporting every single thing to him. When I get the composition done, I’ll let you guys know. His nagging is getting on my nerves when this poison isn’t the only thing on my mind," Elliana signed.

Everyone in the laboratory looked between the vampire professor and the human girl who were both signing furiously, looking quite funny and weird at the same time.

"We are sorry. We will only nag you once a day now," Glow signed with a cute shy smile, and Elliana bit the inside of her cheeks to control her smile before she scoffed and went back to her place, which for some reason was right ahead of Aditya.

She took out her gloves and lab coat and wore them before wearing her glasses.

The lab period was usually 2 hours and time was deducted from all the free periods they used to have. So apart from the designed experiments from the curriculum and needed for the research by the royals, they were allowed to conduct research of their own if they wanted.

This lab was really helpful for Elliana, and she concentrated on her work.

"Elliana, umm... did you get my message?" Aditya asked, and Elliana ignored him.

She didn’t understand what message he was talking about, but she had no intention of asking either.

"I know you are angry with me and -"

"Council head’s son, Mr. Aditya, I am not sure if you went through the rules or not, but this place isn’t for talking," Elliana hissed at him, her voice though soft, loud enough for all the vampires near her to hear clearly.

Aditya looked at her emotionless eyes and felt his heart pricking.

What did he turn her into? There used to be a time when she used to snuck paper notes to him in the middle of the lecture but now...

"Is everything okay?" Alcinder asked, his gaze shifting to Aditya.

"Yeah... I just-" Elliana picked up her pipette, accidentally knocking down the test tube of conc. H2SO4 and HCl, which fell on her hand that was holding the counter, made her wince.

"Elliana!" Multiple voices echoed in the room, and soon the three boys rushed to her.

Elliana raised her brows when she saw Aditya holding her hand and pulling her to the sink, putting it under the cold water.

Good presence of mind, she must add. Wasn’t it exactly that made her fall for him?

"Bring something basic," Elliana said to Glow, her expression completely neutral to the pain as if she wasn’t feeling anything, and Dexter immediately pushed Aditya away from her, glaring at him.

"Stay within your limits. She is not your girlfriend,"

"And neither is yours," Aditya retorted. Dexter gritted his teeth.

"Stop it you two. Her hand must be aching terribly. Look at you fighting like kids," Alcinder snapped at both of them.

Elliana looked at Aditya, her expression void of any emotions.

"It’s just a small burn, Aditya," Elliana said in her soft voice.

The three boys and Glow immediately felt jealous that she would assure that human boy rather than talking to them. Was it because he was a human too and felt her pain equally as her?

Glow was about to walk forward and bring her back to the infirmary when Elliana started again.

"It’s just a small wound and you are so worried," Elliana whispered, stepping closer to him until her body was almost touching his, making everyone’s gaze dark.

Elliana bent forward until her mouth was right beside Aditya’s ears.

"What about the time when your so-called fiancee’s friends pushed me into steaming water because they wanted to hear me scream? Where were you?" Elliana asked, freezing Aditya in his place.

Dexter, who was about to hold her hand and pull her away from Aditya, froze in his place.

They did what?

Elliana smiled brightly as if she hadn’t dropped a bomb of her past trauma before she stepped away from Aditya.

"Thank you for your concern, but as you can see, I now have a genuine group of people who would care for me more than your friends or YOU ever did," Elliana smiled, and Aditya’s expression turned grim.

"Elliana, what are you -" Dexter started, but Elliana shook her head at him.

Glow immediately left with Sasha to control the irritation and annoyance that she felt immediately after hearing what their leader said.

"It’s okay. It’s in the past. Now I have you, don’t I?" Elliana winked at him, making him square his jaws before he flipped her forehead, making her scowl.

"Hey!" She scowled.

"Let’s get your wound treated first," Alcinder said and was about to hold her hand when they saw two more people entering the lab, and everyone raised their brows when they noticed who it was.

"So this is the laboratory my brother is funding? Nice. Nice," Stephano’s voice resounded in the silent environment, and Elliana closed her eyes in annoyance.

Not the brothers again.

"Oh, someone got hurt too? Why do I smell human blood? Quite an appealing and amazing scent of blood, I must say," It was Marcus’s voice

Alcinder immediately grabbed her hand in a tight hold before pulling Elliana behind him to protect her from the royal brothers.

He didn’t know what it was, but from the moment Prince Sebastian had started this deal of the laboratory, they had been seeing quite a lot of royals here even when they didn’t even like the Prince, and for some reason, they all ended up near Elliana in one way or another.

"Hmmm, who is the lucky person?" Stephano asked, his nose tingling when he smelt a few familiar scents.

It was quite a big laboratory, and since the group was in the corner, they took their sweet time walking to the group.

"So who is the person who invited us here with their sweet blood?" Marcus asked as he turned around the counter, his gaze immediately meeting Elliana’s displeased ones.

His smile widened.

"Brother, you should see this," Marcus mused, and Stephano walked to where his brother was, looking at the scene with amusement dancing in his eyes.

"Awww, what do we have here?" Stephano murmured, making Alcinder push Elliana further behind him, and Sebastian who had also arrived with them, massaged his forehead in annoyance.

He wanted to prepare for the meeting, but because they acted like kids, he had to bring them here since he especially asked his grandpa to not allow any prince near the university and princess in public.

"If you guys have looked enough, can we leave already? You guys are hindering the experiments. Marcus, you should know how important every second of such experiments is," Sebastian said, his voice cold and tough.

"Hmmm, I can see that. Every second is important," Stephano smirked before stepping closer.

One step at a time. He liked how the council head’s son who was oblivious to things around him was being so protective of the girl he didn’t have any inkling about.

Sebastian walked to where his brothers were, ready to pull them away when his gaze landed on the girl who was hiding behind the council head’s son.

His nose twitched at the faint scent of her blood. He thought it was just his delusion since he had started to crave her blood these days, but -

Sebastian wanted to step ahead and pull her away from that man, but he didn’t want to put her in the limelight again.

"When you get hurt, you treat your wound. What are you doing hiding behind a vampire? Are you courting death? Don’t you know your blood will make everyone want to attack you? I didn’t know you were so stupid," Sebastian said in his neutral yet cold domineering voice, making Elliana shake in her place, surprising Stephano and Marcus too.
