Chapter 296: Siren Queen: Love brings miseries
"This is the story of around 30 years back," Cleopatra started, and Artemis raised his brows.
"Thirty years ago? But as far as we know, didn’t the queen transfer her powers around eighteen years ago? Or is there something I am missing?" Artemis asked, and Cleopatra looked at him, the ringing of her silent voice now concentrated on his headspace, and he immediately winced.
"Ooooffffff, stop, stop, stop. I am sorry. I won’t interrupt again, I promise," Artemis said, and Cleopatra glared at him before removing her ringing effect.
"Why are you always so impatient? Don’t you want to hear it?" Marianna asked, and Artemis looked at her awkwardly before looking at his feet.
Hera smiled at her to-be husband and sighed before ruffling his hair and pointing her finger to her lips, shushing him, he smiled before nodding before he laid down and placed his head on her lap, making her gasp at his atrocious behavior.
Cleopatra looked at the man and rolled her eyes.
"So, as I was saying, this is the story of thirty years back. It was the time when King Callus had seen Queen Elizabeth for the first time," Cleopatra started the story.
~~~~~~~~
It was the time when Queen Elizabeth’s clan was blooming and was famous for their high-quality spells and practices.
They were the talk of the entire species. Not only were they making their ancestors proud, but the rumors of them being the best in the species started to spread in other kingdoms and species.
They were a complete mixture of what anyone would call a beautiful and the most powerful clan. The girls of the clans were exceptionally eye-catching, even alluring and attracting other sirens, let alone other species.
Their soft hands like rose petals used to move so magically when they used to dance and show their art.
It was strange. No one had heard about this hidden clan for so long, and then suddenly, overnight they started to become so famous that there was no stopping them.
It was the divine energy clan.
Queen Elizabeth, the most beautiful, well-trained, and specialist of all the magical realms who was known to have mastered the angelic dimensions was the daughter of the leader of the clan.
Her beauty was unparalleled and unmatched. She was known for her soft-spoken language and the eyes of an angel. She was both intelligent and quick-witted.
It was rumored that it was all because of Elizabeth, the clan’s condition turned overnight and they turned from an unknown clan to the most famous clan in the world.
They were known internationally.
Naturally, when their clan started to gain their fame, the Palace of the Kingdom was informed of it too.
Suitors from all over the world and foreign waters used to come to Elizabeth’s father to ask for her hand in marriage.
But they always denied it.
There was a hidden secret behind it. They didn’t want to marry their daughter off to anyone. Most importantly, they didn’t want the secrets that their daughter would’ve to reveal in front of anyone if asked after she got married.
It was good in the beginning, but then Elizabeth, who was given the entire responsibility of the clan’s fame, started to feel alone.
Everyone would treat her like she was some kind of royalty. Her own family started treating her like she was some golden egg-laying chicken for them.
Her friends started to distance themselves from her because now she was a divine power, and they started feeling small.
Two years passed just like that, and one day without telling her parents, Elizabeth escaped the clan’s regional waters.
The girl who had never stepped outside with a guard was not alone.
She was scared, but she had a strong will to explore the other neighboring clans. Elizabeth even went as far as putting up a disguise to hide from the public eye so that everyone could treat her like a normal siren.
She was like Lily in the little toxic world.
It was the time of high tides as it was Supermoon that night. The waters were strangely disturbed.
When the tides came, everyone drifted away from their places, and Elizabeth accidentally drifted to the Kingdom’s regions.
That’s exactly how she had met King Callus. She was still drifting apart when he used the ropes to stop her from drifting far away as she was crying for help.
King Callus was the first man who caught her eyes despite all the suitors over time, and to say Elizabeth was the first woman who could make the King’s heart beat strongly would be an understatement.
Everything was planned. Of course, they didn’t plan that Elizabeth would sneak like this and Callus would save her, but their meeting was scheduled for some time.
Thus, when everyone heard that Callus managed to get the attention of the Siren Elizabeth whom every Siren male has been trying to get, everyone was happy.
Small gaze exchanges started to change from little chats in the market to meetings in the kingdom, and then they turned into long nightouts.
The Divine Energy clan didn’t want to marry their daughter, but when they saw that their daughter was happy with the heir of the kingdom, they got ready and happily married her.
The clan had thought that their daughter being married to the royals would bring glory to the clan and spread their names to neither region, but they had never thought that things would start to go downhill quickly.
Everything comes with a negative and positive effect on your life. They liked that their clan was getting the recognition their ancestors always wanted to have, but it posed a great threat to the one secret they had to protect with their lives.
The secret because of which they had stayed hidden for so long.
It started slowly, but soon the rumor, the secret they had been trying to save their entire life, started to come out and when it did, things turned ugly.
They came to know that the kingdom spies probably already had a gist of this secret, and that was the reason they initiated these plans to capture Elizabeth in the first place.
Of course, given her powers and intelligence, they couldn’t capture her by force or pressure her mentally. That’s why they used one method in front of which every person kneels.
Love.
No one ever found out if Prince Callus knew about this plan or not. He never got the chance to explain himself.
People from all over the world started tricking the Divine Energy clan members and started sneaking into their regions to steal their ancient books.
The ancient books had the secret of bringing back the dead to life.
The clan knew exactly what they were looking for, and though they didn’t have the powers to perform that spell or magic, it was their duty to protect it with their life.
"Liza, my daughter, we have been betrayed," Elizabeth’s father said to her through the mind link.
Elizabeth was brokenhearted when she came to know the truth. She couldn’t believe her eyes or ears. She tried to run away. She tried to free herself from the miseries, from the pain of her clan’s demise on her hands.
Only the people who were present there knew exactly how painful it was for her. Seeing her husband standing on one side and her entire clan looking at her with hope on the other side, tore her.
Callus was innocent, she wanted to tell herself, but what her eyes were seeing and her heart believed were completely different.
She was the cold princess, and the siren known for having never cried her entire life, even when she was born.
But that day, she was torn.
"Dad, don’t worry. Nothing will go wrong. I will save you all. I will save everyone. Please hang onto it. Nothing will happen to anyone. Please bear with it," Elizabeth cried as she ran towards them, but as she was about to cross the barrier to reach her parents, she saw someone placing the sword on her husband’s neck, and forcing him to kneel.
"Go, Elizabeth. Save your clan. I am sorry. Please, I didn’t know I was just a pawn in their hands. It wasn’t my family, I swear. Please don’t hate us. It was the ministers," The king cried, and Elizabeth looked at her family rather than at her husband.
It was hard to decide where to go.
Her clan was capable enough to save themselves and the king could fight too, but at that time both were kneeling helpless.
"Liza, go to your husband. It’s okay. It’s our duty to protect the ancient books they have been looking for. We will burn those books. You contain all that energy. You are our pride. At least one person in our can should be happy. This secret shall end with us today," her father said, and Elizabeth’s eyes went wide when she saw her clan smiling at her.
"Elizabeth, go to them," The king said before he held the hand of the man who had his sword on his neck.
’No. No. No. No. This can’t be happening,’ she looked at her people in horror, and before she could utter a word, they took their words and sliced their necks, their limp bodies falling on the ground as the sparkles of the burning book flew in the air.
"Dad!" Elizabeth shouted, falling on her knees before she quickly got up to run to her husband, but seeing his dead body falling on the ground, she broke.
"Aaaaaaaaaaa!"
"Aaaaaaaaaaaa!"
That dad Elizabeth had cried. And when she had cried, everyone in the radius of one kilometer had cried tears of blood with her. That was how powerful her voice was.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Elizabeth had cried until her throat started tearing apart. Her powers, everything turned sad, and they brought a cyclone that no one ever saw.
Cleopatra wiped her tears and Hera sobbed, feeling the pain as she clenched her heart, and Artemis hugged her, wiping their own tears as they waited for Cleopatra to continue.
"What happened afterward?" Artemis asked, and Cleopatra smiled sadly.
