Chapter 252: A little snake for truth
"This is not appropriate, Prince Vincenzo. You can’t enter my room like this when my husband is not here," Elliana said, her eyes stern, and Vincenzo looked at her with a neutral look before nodding.
"I know, I can’t. How are you feeling now? Do you remember anything? Did something happen? I am sure it’s not because you danced for 15 minutes. The Glory I knew wasn’t like this," Vincenzo said.
Elliana scrunched her brows in annoyance.
She didn’t know this prince was so overbearing and stubborn. No matter how many times she told him that she wasn’t the person he thought she was, he just couldn’t believe it.
She didn’t know if she should praise his friendship, care, and observation powers or if she should curse them because she didn’t want to be found out.
"I am not -"
"You are not Glory? Yes, for sure," Vincenzo rolled his eyes before he held her hand and pulled it out of the duvet.
Elliana narrowed her eyes when she saw him taking out a marker from his pocket.
"What are you doing?" She asked warily.
"Drawing. Just like how I always used to," he said before drawing a snake, and Elliana immediately felt her skin burning with the similar irritation and ugliness of the creature Vincenzo drew on her palm.
"What did you do? You know I hate snakes -" Elliana started before she paused.
She raised her gaze to look into Vincenzo’s eyes, who had a knowing look on his face.
"That you always hated snakes with a passion. You still don’t know what’s the reason behind it, but it might be because your life has been filled with different kinds of people who always acted like a snake around you. Yes, I know," Vincenzo said, and Elliana gulped before looking away.
"I have no explanation for this. Almost everyone hates snakes and people like them. I don’t know what you are implying here and -"
"Why?" Vincenzo interrupted her, looking into her eyes with an intensity that she couldn’t look away from.
"What do you mean -"
"Why do you not want to acknowledge our friendship, Glory? I mean, Princess Elliana. Did I do something wrong? Was it something I said? Was it something I didn’t say or do? Just give me a fucking reason so that I can put my heart to ease," Vincenzo said, his gaze quivering.
"I... I... " Elliana looked away, but for the first time, Vincenzo touched her cheeks, forcing her to look into his eyes.
"It’s been hard, Glory. You have no idea how long I searched for you. There wasn’t a place in the Heart Moon City, Moon City, Sun City, vampire kingdom of the three states encircling us where I didn’t find you.
Heck, two of my spies were still looking for you all over the nation until I heard your voice that day. I forbid to believe that you weren’t here anymore, that you died without telling me," Vincenzo said before taking a deep breath.
His emotions coursed through Elliana’s heart, making her uncomfortable as she tried to dart her gaze.
"You just left without saying a word when I used to tell you about every single mission I had. Was my friendship never nothing to you? I still am ready to understand that something urgent came up and you had to leave, but now? What’s your excuse now? Why are you denying what we had?" Vincenzo asked her, and she looked down, barely controlling her emotions.
Her empathetic heart had always been a problem for her. She had no intention of recognizing him because she knew that once she recognized herself as Glory, things about her would start surfacing. Things that she didn’t want anyone to know.
"I... Just leave, Prince Vincenzo," Elliana said, and Vincenzo could see her facade or whatever shell she was in cracking softly.
He smiled through his sad emotions, finally seeing a little hope that this girl hadn’t abandoned him and his friendship entirely.
"I can see that you don’t want to have anything to do with me, but can I at least know what I did wrong? I am tired of thinking about it again and again. I haven’t slept for three days, Glory. Just answer me and please end this misery," Vincenzo looked at her with pleading eyes.
Elliana chewed her bottom lip as she contemplated what to say for him to give up the thought of keeping a friendship with her.
"I didn’t know -"
"You knew I was a vampire and a very strong one at that. You knew that I was related to royals if not the royal family so don’t try to lie about what you didn’t know -" Vincenzo said, none of them talking about whether she was Glory or not anymore.
"Prince Vincenzo, I don’t -"
"I..." Elliana paused as the knob of the door fumbled from outside, and she widened her eyes.
If someone saw Vincenzo here, it would be questionable and Mr. Marino would definitely not like it.
She looked at Vincenzo to tell him to leave if he didn’t want both of them to get into trouble, but with a swoosh of wind, he was nowhere to be seen. The curtains flailed as he left, leaving no trace behind.
The only evidence that he was here in this room a minute ago was the little snake he drew on her palm, and she fisted her hand, hoping it would disappear because of her sweating.
This... This isn’t right. She can’t -
"Princess," Sebastian walked inside the room, and when he saw her sitting there with tears brimming her eyes, he narrowed his eyes.
Was she so shocked because she fainted like that? Or was something else bothering her? He thought before he walked to her and took off his shoes.
"Come here," He sighed, getting in the bed with her and pulling her close, placing her head on his chest.
His heart tinged a little when she wrapped her cute little hands around his torso like she didn’t want to let him go.
He patted the side of her head softly, letting her calm down in his embrace so that she could feel at ease.
"It wasn’t your fault that you fainted. So don’t think that you spoiled anything, okay?" Sebastian asked, and though his voice was cold and void of emotions like always, it was more than enough for Elliana to nod her head and feel relaxed.
"About that one question that I wanted to ask you.
What is your relationship with witches, Elliana? I am sure that you fainted because you heard that death sound. That death sound that I could hear too because of the curse. No one apart from the I ever heard it, so how come -" Sebastian trailed off, closing his eyes in frustration when he realized Elliana was fast asleep.
Sebastian gritted his teeth and contemplated waking Elliana to get his answers, but before he could do that, his phone vibrated with an incoming message, and he looked at the content of it, sighing.
It was a message from Lucas.
"Sir, we have located Madonna. She is here. When do we leave to talk to her?" The message asked, and Sebastian looked at the sleeping girl before sighing.
’It’s okay if she doesn’t answer anything or doesn’t speak of anything. He will get his answers from this witch now,’ Sebastian thought.
"We will leave after dinner," Sebastian messaged back and was about to keep his phone aside when he read the message from his spies, a message he wasn’t expecting.
"Sir, the team is a little suspicious of the Prince of the second royal family. Prince Harry," the message said, and Sebastian’s eyes drooped immediately.
So his suspicion was right. Though they fight all the time and don’t like each other, it was a bit hard for him to believe that his direct family would plan that kind of attack on him. So it was the second family. Sebastian’s gaze darkened before he quickly typed a message.
"Keep looking further. We can’t accuse him without any proof, and once we have the proof I’ll get a legit reason to kill him with my bare hands.
