Chapter 222: A witch and a human
"I want all the information of what happened here when I was gone and what happened at the site of the battle," Sebastian sat in the lounge, not bothering to go to the office room, knowing all too well that his princess would be asleep after that activity now.
"Let’s start with you, Miss Zoya," Sebastian’s eyes were cold, empty like a vase of never-ending abyss. His expression looked resolute, like a tiger ready to pounce on anything and everything that would annoy him.
Lucas raised his gaze towards the prince, and his eyes narrowed when he noticed the weird mark on his neck.
It looked like a... A bite mark?
"Sir, your neck," Lucas started, unsure about how to form his sentence in a way that didn’t sound too offensive or provoking.
He can’t just ask him if the princess bit him, right? Besides, that mark looked quite deep. He won’t be surprised if it bled too. Could it be that this bite mark is the reason behind his cold expression? Maybe he wasn’t happy about it.
Was Princess alright? Lucas thought, his gaze involuntarily going to the third floor.
"Thanks to your princess. I asked her a question about where she was, and she got so angry that she bit me," Sebastian sighed, hiding what he did to her, which led to these bites. He was aware of them. There were two bite marks on his neck and on either side.
He could’ve made them disappear in a minute, but he didn’t want to. He needed to tease his woman with something, something to hold against her and threaten her with, and these marks were going to play a vital role in that.
Sebastian smirked inwardly at his trail of thoughts while everyone, shocked by the revelation, suppressed their emotions.
Lucas was the only one who dared to speak when Sebastian’s facial expression clearly said no more questions on the matter.
"The princess bit you because you asked her where she was? And you let her bite you? Not once, but twice? And you did nothing?" Lucas expressed sarcasm through his questions.
Sebastian raised his brows, challenging him to speak one more word with his gaze, and Lucas coughed before clearing his throat.
Right. This wasn’t the time to discuss these things when they just got out of a battle where they almost lost their lives.
"Do I need to give you another invitation, Miss Zoya?" Sebastian looked at the caretaker, who jumped in her place at the extra cold voice he used.
Sebastian was indeed annoyed with her.
If she had used that extra master key that he keeps with her, they would’ve caught the princess red-handed and -
And then what? Sebastian narrowed his brows. What would he have really done? Punish her for saving his man’s life?
The thought of giving her the same punishment or even harder made his soldier down there, tingle and come to life slowly, and he sighed, keeping his thoughts at bay.
No more thinking about punishment right now. He needs to concentrate on the matter at hand.
Miss Zoya took a deep breath and told him everything. Starting from how the guards rushed inside the palace saying they saw something weird lurking out of their balcony to how Miss Zoya rushed to the room and got it checked while Princess stood in the corner. She told him everything.
Sebastian heard everything with his eyes closed as he leaned back on the couch.
"So you are saying you let the guards enter the room and check it while Princess was in her nightgown?" Sebastian’s eyes were still closed, but everyone could feel the dark energy radiating off him.
"We were afraid someone was trying to hurt the Princess to target you. We are sorry, sir. We couldn’t think that much at that time," Miss Zoya said, and Sebastian hummed.
"And? Did you find out what made the guards suspect something was there? Did you guys check the CCTV perhaps?" Sebastian asked, and Miss Zoya shook her head.
"There was nothing in the CCTV footage of the garden that faces the rooms. I don’t know if I should be bold enough to say it, sir, but I think it was a witch. Only one guard saw it, and we can think he was delusional and saw wrong, but what if he was right? I think we should increase the Princess’s security and call Blue back. That’s my personal opinion," Miss Zoya said before looking down at her feet in submission.
"I will think about it. As far as I remember, I only told you I was going out of the palace. Who told the Princess about where I was going?" Sebastian came to the main topic, and everyone looked at each other.
"Sir, are you sure it was the princess? Did you confirm with her?" Lucas asked, and Sebastian narrowed his eyes.
"I don’t need to confirm with her to know that she was the one who entered that dangerous zone.
Despite that weird mud and sunflower scent, she had around herself, which she cunningly tried to hide by bathing as soon as she returned, I know when she is around me. I can feel her presence. It’s strong and -" Sebastian let the statement hang.
"If you are sure about her being so cunning and mischievous, sir, she probably figured it out herself. She had asked me if you would join her for dinner, but when I refused she asked me if you weren’t home, and I said that you went to work," Miss Zoya said.
"And she connected the rest of the dots herself. She immediately understood where I went right after she talked to Tian. Quite calculative," Sebastian licked his lower lip thoughtfully.
"I wonder how she is still not able to figure out that I am the same Tian she keeps disrespecting, or is it that she knows the truth already and just acts naive to cuss me freely," Sebastian smirked at the thought of his woman confessing everything to him one day, the same day where he will be ready to tame her beauty.
"I still think that it wasn’t the princess, Sir. Yes, I thought momentarily that it was her, but I don’t think she was," Lucas covered the truth, not liking the evil expression on Sebastian’s face.
Something didn’t feel right about the situation, and he didn’t want them to jump to conclusions based on their own speculations and accuse her of something she didn’t do.
Even if she helped their team get out of that situation, anyone would blame her, and they would find a new reason to suspect her in the name of her conspiring with the wolves or things like that.
"And how can you say that with such confidence?" Sebastian asked.
"Her presence in the room when we returned. Though she didn’t open the door for fifteen minutes straight, she was inside the room when you entered, right? Miss Zoya reached the room as soon as you called. It means she was in the room fifteen minutes before we arrived, right?" Lucas asked.
"How did she come here so fast? There is no way she covered all the distance and reached here without being caught, and the most important thing, how did she sneak out of here and come back without being noticed?
We can say that she went out when she went for a walk in the forest, but why did no guard notice her when she returned? Did she jump over those walls? And didn’t get scratched? Did you see her dirty clothes?" Lucas asked reasonable questions one after the other and it started bothering Sebastian.
Everything he asked was plausible. Sebastian was 100 % sure that it was Princess who arrived there, but then how did she manage to do all this alone? And those wolves, how did she manage to collect them all in such a short period? The Moon City alone is 40 minutes away from here so...
Sebastian took a deep breath, confused about everything before he said one sentence that surprised everyone.
"It can only be possible if she has some kind of witch helping her. And now the main question is, why would a witch help a human? A human who doesn’t have anything to give in return?"
