The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 150: Something was off
Chapter 150: Something was off
"Is everything okay, sir?" Lucas asked when he noticed Sebastian looking at the sea from the balcony window for the last few minutes.
Was everything okay? He can’t stop thinking about Elliana, and it has been like this since last night. He didn’t catch a wink of sleep just because he didn’t get to be with her in the same bed as her.
That vampire girl ruined his entire plans.
So was everything okay? Of course not! He was anything but okay.
Sebastian sighed and pinched the space between his brows.
More than the want he desires for her, he has been constantly thinking about the mystery that has started to build around Elliana, his so-called ordinary human wife.
If it had been others, they might not have been able to notice it, but thanks to his grandmother who gave him those books to read in his free time, and his extreme research on witches and all the other species in the world, he could see a pattern of differences around Elliana these days.
At first, he used to think it was nothing, but now he can see things are indeed worth to concern over. On this trip only, so many weird things happened around them.
The sirens calling Elliana, that push while falling, the soft landing, Dexter saying Elliana used to go out of the kingdom even when he was notified that she never left the kingdom, and how she knew about vampires and probably strong ones even before that.
Then most importantly, the sudden and drastic change in her personality from time to time is another thing worth suspecting.
"Lucas, I asked you to look into the princess’s information before, right?" Sebastian suddenly asked, and Lucas nodded.
"Yes, sir. I told you the information I found out about the Princess, and how much we could find about -"
"That was some useless bunch of paragraphs. That’s not the real deal. I want you to send our S-class team and look further into her details. And when I mention her details, I want everything starting from the second she was born to how she ended up at that kingdom’s gate. Will you be able to do that?" Sebastian looked at Lucas and the latter looked down.
They had already tried everything last time too, but if sir is asking for that special team to look for those details, maybe it’s really something important? Even the prince from the royal Kingdom is looking into the human princess’ details.
What is so mysterious about this princess that all the Prince and royal vampires can see but the normal vampires can’t? He was no weak vampire either. He was the son of one of the dukes too. Lucas sighed before nodding.
"Did you get the information of Prince’s call details?" Sebastian asked Lucas.
He was sure the princess was talking to someone yesterday when he saw her. It was strange how she was able to sense his presence and cover her tracks quickly when even the strongest vampires don’t sense him easily. She might’ve thought that he didn’t notice, but he did, and it was quite suspecting.
Meanwhile, Elliana, who was sitting inside her room after taking a shower, looked at her reflection in the mirror.
Something was definitely off.
She couldn’t talk to Nathaniel properly yesterday because Mr. Marino interrupted their talk, but the explanation Nath gave her didn’t match what she felt in the market.
It can’t just be her premonition, right? There has to be something wrong.
Nathaniel said that the prison world she was sent into was done by one of his witches, colleagues, or whatever they were, then why the hell did she hear that weird whisper?
If those witches were of Nath’s team, there was no need to whisper those things to scare her more, no? And what was with that sentence?
’What is so special about that you are under Arizona’s protection?’ It was something like that, wasn’t it? Why would someone from his team say that? And who exactly was this Arizona? She thought Nath was taking care of her.
Then again, was she really under someone’s protection? As far as she was told, she was just receiving training from them to control her powers, no?
Elliana massaged her forehead as she thought about all those things and was about to leave her room for breakfast when she heard someone knocking on her door.
"Come in," she said after a few seconds once she was sure her dress was decent enough.
"Hey," Dexter walked inside the room with a boyish smile, and Elliana’s eyes immediately softened.
He was probably one of the people who has been with her without judging her for her shortcomings whatsoever.
"What are you up to?" Elliana asked, and Dexter shrugged.
"Don’t know. I just heard Melony talking to Drake about you returning with your bodyguard after an attack, so I just wanted to check up on you," Dexter said, and Elliana narrowed her eyes.
"Attack?"
When did that happen?
Could it be that Mr. Marino told everyone they were attacked when they returned? Since she was sleeping, she had no idea about what happened before he threw some water on her.
"What else do you know?" Elliana asked, wanting to be prepared for the questions she will have to face as soon as she exits this place, and Dexter smiled at her confused face.
"That you were quite wounded. How is your hand?" Dexter looked at her hand which had a few scratches, and Elliana nodded.
"It’s fine. I guess," She looked at him before patting the space beside her.
Dexter smiled at her and sat on the bed before taking a deep breath as he looked at her.
"Honestly, I came here to give you this," Dexter pulled out a beautifully carved dagger.
"A dagger?" Elliana smiled, and Dexter chuckled at her beaming eyes.
She was probably the first person around him who never conceals her excitement for such weird stuff.
"You got it for me? When?" Elliana looked at him with wide eyes, like an excited kid anxious to get their present in their hand, and Dexter shrugged.
"Maybe when you were looking at those daggers and swords with such excitement in your eyes? I didn’t want to give you a sword on a goddamn trip, so I bought you this," Dexter smiled at her like a friend who wants to spoil their friends and fulfill all of their wishes.
"This is beautiful. Can I touch it?" Elliana asked.
"Well, technically it’s all yours...soo..." Dexter placed the dagger in her palms, smiling at her cute and innocent expression.
"You are beautiful when you smile like this," He whispered.
"Thank you for such an amazing gift. I don’t really receive gifts," Elliana smiled innocently and Dexter suppressed the urge to pull her cheeks.
He was about to tell her that he drew a portrait of her here and wanted to show her, when her bodyguard walked into the room, and Dexter looked at him apprehensively.
Sebastian’s gaze swept between Dexter and Elliana before it settled on the thing in her palms, and he quirked his brows, not saying anything nonetheless.
Elliana finally looked up after inspecting the dagger-like an art collector.
"Mr. Tian, see," Elliana stood from her place so quickly that her foot got entangled in the carpet.
"Glow!"
"Princess,"
Dexter and Sebastian said at the same time as they rushed forward to hold her, but Elliana just wobbled a little before standing straight, making them sigh.
"Hehe, it was a close call," Elliana chuckled, while Sebastian looked at Dexter with narrowed eyes.
What did he call her? Glow? Was that her nickname or did it have more significance?
