Chapter 117: Bring a bodyguard
Chapter 117: Bring a bodyguard
"What happened to the princess, sir? She left so abruptly. She didn’t even eat anything. Is that because she had to drink the milk forcefully?" Miss Zoya asked Sebastian, and he looked at the space in front of him before sighing.
"You don’t need to worry about that. She doesn’t like turmeric milk, and I kind of forced it into her mouth. She is just throwing a tantrum," Sebastian stood from his place, and Miss Zoya hummed.
"Please don’t be so hard on her. The girl was probably scared for her life today, not to mention how Mrs. Victoria looked at her and tried to insult her," Miss Zoya said, and Sebastian hummed.
"I’ll keep that in mind. Don’t worry. She’ll return for the night’s dinner. I’ll be in my office," he murmured, and Miss Zoya bowed in respect before leaving to tend to her maids and see how their work was going.
Meanwhile, Elliana stood with her eyes wide, and her heart beating at a high pace. Her back was plastered on the door as she took deep breaths to calm herself and rubbed her cheeks to calm the hotness she was feeling.
She didn’t know what kind of feeling this was. It wasn’t like this was the first time the prince had kissed her or she was embarrassed. Then why the hell was she feeling so hot suddenly?
Elliana touched her lips and remembered Mr. Marino’s forcing the milk into her mouth, the kind of milk that she doesn’t like. However, she didn’t even taste the milk. She was so shocked by his actions.
She didn’t even know if he realized or not, but his other hand was so close to her chest that it almost made her nervous.
This was wrong. She shouldn’t be thinking this. Elliana walked to the bed before jumping on it and flailing her legs, annoyed.
She shouldn’t be feeling so naughty with the prince, but what is she supposed to do when that’s the only thing she can think of? She is yet to see his face, but his lips... They must be surely beautiful. At least the way they moved against her lips was breathtaking...
"Ahhh!" Elliana rolled on the bed before wincing in pain when she hit her ankle on the side of the bed.
This reminds her, she has to call her friends and ask them if it was okay to bring Tian with her.
That mischievous man, as much as she didn’t want to go with him, Mr. Marino said that Tian is the only person he can trust. Now she is left with no other choice but to give in to it.
This was her first trip with her friends. Elliana thought and sighed.
It would be three days and two nights that she would be away from Mr. Marino. It hasn’t even been a month, and it already feels like they have lived together for an eternity.
The way he understands her, and cares for her like she has never been treated before.
Before coming here, she had thought that the royal vampires were next to a monster because of how much pain they like to inflict. She doesn’t know what he does out of the palace, but inside the palace, he was her knight in shining armor.
Besides, why should she care about how he treats others? Those people never accepted her even when they were supposed to show at least humanity.
Mr. Marino, though being called a monster and the most dangerous vampire prince in the nation by the world, was way more soft and sensitive with her than anyone else has ever been, including her biological father.
Elliana smiled at her thoughts before looking at her phone.
’La la la la,’ Elliana hummed.
She dialed Samantha’s number to inform her she was coming, and Samantha immediately put everyone on the group call so that if Elliana was about to say no, they all could pacify her or give her ideas on how to coax her guardian.
"Hello?" Samantha picked up the call, and Elliana was about to answer when the door of the room opened.
"You sound really happy for someone who dashed out of the dining room just now like someone said something bad to her," Sebastian commented, and Elliana, who was sprawled on her stomach on the bed, looked at him, feeling embarrassed again as she remembered how he made her drink that milk and made it taste so sweet and -
"I... I... You shouldn’t tease someone like that. That’s bad behavior," Elliana said, not being able to come up with anything else, and Sebastian chuckled at her choice of words.
"So our princess thinks I am mean now. Should I show her what being mean actually is?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana’s cheeks turned red again.
"That’s not what I meant to say, Mr. Mar -"
"Are you talking to someone?" He interrupted her, and Elliana’s eyes widened before she looked at the call that was picked up earlier.
Just like earlier, her friends were intently listening to her conversation without a shame in the world and more heat crept up her neck.
"So cute. I’ll be in my office. Call me if you need anything. Tian will be back soon," Sebastian smirked inside the mask, seeing her dreadful expression before turning around and leaving with his coat.
Elliana looked at the closed door before looking at the call and took a deep breath.
"Uhh... Hello?" Elliana tested the waters.
"Girl, you need to tell us what family you belong to. Why do all men around you, call you a princess, and why the hell does everyone sound so sexy...mmmmphhh!" Melony’s voice was cut short as Drake pulled her in for a jealous kiss, and the rest of the friends rolled their eyes.
"Umm... I called to let you guys know I can come to the trip. However -"
"However?" Daniel was the first one to jump in.
"I’ll have a friend - bodyguard with me," Elliana quickly changed her words. There is no way she is calling that Tian guy her friend.
"A bodyguard? Geez, you live in more protection than any of us. Are these the perks of being a beautiful human?" Daniel teased her, and Elliana bit her lips.
"Will that be fine with you guys?" She asked, and they hummed.
"It’s not a bother. We are surprised that you said yes in the first place. We were planning to kidnap you from your place at night if nothing worked," Samantha said, and Elliana smiled.
As if they would ever be able to crack the security of this place. She sighed before remembering something.
"Also, can you guys not mention things like I race or dance or sing in front of my bodyguard? My new family doesn’t know about these things, and it’s better if it stays hidden. I can trust you guys on this, right?" Elliana asked.
"Why? Are you afraid your new family will throw you out if they found out what kind of hooligan you are?" Alcinder asked, and Elliana quietened.
"Hey, that was mean, Alcinder. Don’t comment on anything you don’t know about," Daniel said, remembering what she told him about being bullied at her home.
That might be her previous home. Everything makes sense now.
"I... Umm.. yeah, that’s all I wanted to say. Message me the address I need to reach. If that’s all," Elliana quickly disconnected the call, and everyone sighed.
"Did you really have to say that to her, dude? "I thought you were a jerk, but how can you act so insensitive? After everything she told us about getting bullied?"
"Do you even have any idea what it means to lose our comfort home and family?"
Everyone started calling out to Alcinder, and Alcinder, who didn’t get a rebuking reply from Elliana, felt guilty.
He felt more bad from her silence than anything his friends were saying.
Maybe he indeed hit a sore spot. He sighed before ruffling his hair. Why can’t he just control his mouth when it comes to her? He groaned.
Elliana, on the other hand, didn’t mind what Alcinder said and started humming again. It wasn’t like she didn’t know about it. It was the truth indeed. If Mr. Marino found out about her rough ways with life and her dealings with the black market or black angel wings, he will be the first one to dislike her.
And probably throw her out of the place too.
She stood from her bed and walked to her closet. There it was, the suitcase that she brought when she entered here for the first time.
She can still remember how startled she was by the sudden arrangement. The question that Mr. Marino asked her if she was scared of him. The way he helped her out with the footwear that day when his grandpa arrived for the first time or how he always held her and put her to bed no matter where she ended up sleeping.
These little things might not matter to anyone, but to her, they were starting to become her everything.
As much as she was excited to go on this trip, she felt weirded out that she was going alone. It would’ve been better if it had been Mr. Marino going with her rather than his friend. But it’s not like she can force him either.
