Chapter 778: Chapter 433 Value (First Update)_2
Two immense figures tumbled and clashed in the canyon for hundreds of rounds, cracking the earth and shattering the rock walls. Luckily, the Death’s Trace Canyon was quite spacious; otherwise, it would have been ground away itself.
Soron shouted, "Jessica, deliver a Heavy Strike to create an opening. Without a Soul Void, Rod can’t advance!"
Rod said unhappily, "Professor Soron, can you please watch your words?"
Carrying Rod on his back, Soron raced chaotically through the canyon. Weakened by his draining Spiritual Energy, he was sweating profusely. Upon hearing Rod’s complaint, he immediately turned around.
"What’s the matter? Can’t you ’advance’?"
Clearly, he hadn’t realized the issue with his language; he was only concerned about whether they could kill the monster.
Rod covered his face, deciding not to fuss over these verbal details any longer.
"I can advance, I’m still able to advance. Stop asking, Professor Soron, I can still move no matter what the situation."
Soron instantly smiled.
"That’s great! Killing this Soul Devouring Demon means we can finish a task that was supposed to take half a month in just a few days. Our situation will vastly improve and we can start preparing for the attack on Starry Sky City a day earlier, thereby increasing our odds of winning."
He leaped to dodge a large stone flying toward him and shouted:
"Jessica, what are you doing? Hurry up!"
Just as Jessica was about to respond, the Soul Devouring Demon suddenly lifted its head, its facial features brightening with intense red light, targeting her fiercely.
The massive body of the Six-Armed Snake Demon suddenly contracted and then lunged forward, barely evading the red light by a whisker.
Just as she was about to raise her Giant Sword, the Soul Devouring Demon quickly turned, its claws swiping at her again.
Jessica raised two Giant Swords to block the claws while her other four Giant Swords heavily struck its body, leaving four massive scars.
The Soul Devouring Demon roared, launching an even more fierce attack.
Jessica fought with all her might. The battle prolonged in the canyon, finally giving her a moment to respond.
"Professor Soron, this Soul Devouring Demon is much stronger than the last one. Its strength, speed, and reactions are incomparable to the previous one. I need someone to help me a bit."
Soron anxiously replied, "How can I help? My Spiritual Energy is almost depleted..."
Jessica shouted, "Just distract it briefly, and I’ll have a chance to break through its Spiritual Defense."
Soron paused, distract its attention?
He looked at the frenzied Soul Devouring Demon careening through the canyon.
If they were to charge at it head-on, the monster would likely turn and kill them with a single strike.
But he had no means of long-distance attack, and most crucially, he was out of Spiritual Power. He had consumed too many Spiritual Power Potions while fighting the first Soul Devouring Demon and was now exhausted from potion fatigue.
Rod was also at a loss. He could only maintain enough Spiritual Energy for a Soul Blast and nothing else.
But just then, a voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
It was from the Book of the Future.
"Master, I have a method."
Rod exclaimed, "You have a method?"
"Yes!" the Book of the Future confidently said. "If it works, please reward me with ten thousand units of Spirituality."
Ten thousand units of Spirituality was not a large amount, but it was not particularly small either. Rod frowned, "What’s the method?"
The Book of the Future confidently said, "Let Asa fly out there to attract the Soul Devouring Demon’s attention. He’s undead, so even if the monster kills him, he’ll come back."
Rod’s frown deepened.
"Asa? I remember he can’t leave the Dream Realm, otherwise the Dream Realm’s restrictions on him would break, and he would regain his freedom."
The Book of the Future quickly replied, "Master, based on my long-term observations, Asa’s soul can actually split. As long as half of his soul remains in the Dream Realm, it doesn’t matter where the other half of his Spiritual Body runs to; destroying the remaining half will allow the Dream Realm to capture him, and he will be reborn in the Dream Realm once again."
"Is that so?"
Rod asked skeptically.
"You aren’t conspiring to deceive me, are you?"
The Book of the Future urgently replied, "How could I? Why would I conspire with that piece of crap? I’m in this sorry state because of him. Seeing him smug is more painful than my own misfortune. I’d rather eat him alive."
It quickly flipped through its pages, the dark pages revealing a new vision.
"Look, Master, this is my prediction of his immediate future. There’s no chance of him breaking free from the Dream Realm. Every attempt to escape will be thwarted."
Rod watched for a while, then communicated separately with the Book of Knowledge and the Puppet in his consciousness, explaining the situation and asking, "Is the Book of the Future dependable? Can its method work?"
The Book of Knowledge answered, "I think it is reliable. Dream Creations cannot lie to their master; at most, they can stay silent. They also cannot misuse their powers, let alone disguise them."
The Puppet said, "Master, Asa’s soul form is very peculiar, but as long as the Dream Realm has him locked down, there’s no way he can escape, especially now that he is in an almost Spirit-like state without any Spiritual Energy."
Rod frowned, "But then, can he really attract the Soul Devouring Demon’s attention?"
The Puppet said, "Please be assured, Master. Asa is one of the oldest souls. He knows many secrets and has countless ways to achieve this."
Rod fell silent for a few seconds. It seemed there were no other options.
He focused his consciousness on Asa.
The prisoner at the base of the Obelisk was observing the outside environment, his features filled with gloom, bearing an expression of deep resentment.
